Hopefully. Cause getting kids to lie to avoid meeting people is a seriously bad sign. If Darren`s fear, anxiety, shame, or whatever his emotional reasoning is for wanting to want to isolate himself is that severe, there is a serious danger he could want to end his life to prevent having to face others permanently. Clearly Darren is more concerned about not having to face Kyle, than about the example he sets to Ella by asking her to lie for him. That is a seriously bad sign of how severe his depression has progressed. Even though it is too soon to conclude this to be a depression - there are a couple of other serious conditions or illnesses it also could be, with the little we have learned yet.

I think that Kyle had struggled with depression so he knew the signs when Darren was avoiding meeting people because he was feeling "under the weather".

I like this side of Kyle. Leaving the open mic night (or should that be the open pandemic night?) he clearly had looked forward to, cause he was alarmed about Darren`s state of mind. He didn`t tell the others about his concern, respected Darren`s privacy perfectly - and now hopefully will either be in a position to help Darren getting help, or to inform Mandy she should get him help, and that it is urgent.
That was the comment. The following is a continuation of a communication I have had going with someone else on another platform. But because of restricted space on that platform - and because I am now bored out of my mind being a prisoner of the Corona pandemic - we steal a little bit of the larger space offered by YT for longer replies. But it is not a personal conversation. I noticed last time I used YT for this that many others had read it too. That is perfectly okay. This just guessing, or if I guess wrong, an alternative SL to some Hollyoaks SLs, and brand new developments for some of the characters, plus a few brand new ones.
For those who need it - the one who doesn`t can just continue to the replies, where the actual SL will be resumed - here is first a "quick" refresher of what has happened until now - on both platforms (so it is quite a lot): DS Cohen has arranged for an undercover officer to work as a music teacher at Hollyaoks High, after PC Kiss came to her with information about possible drug dealing at the school. Because there previously has been suspicion of corruption within the Dee Valley Police, Cohen is working only with newcomer to the station, PC George Kiss, and the undercover officer from a national anti organized crime force, who has a dog trained in finding narcotics, which alerts about his findings with signals only his handler can interpret, and therefore is being presented as a guide dog. The story being the arts and music teacher the undercover officer pose as, because of a head injury sustained in a motorcycle accident, sometimes loses his eyesight abruptly and completely. But it is just a cover story, his eyesight is perfectly fine.
At the school only headmistress, Sally, and Nancy because she was the victim of the knife attack, is aware the new arts and music teacher is an undercover police officer. But neither of them know that the undercover "guide dog" has identified which lockers drugs are being stashed in at the school, and also which cars appears when the owners of those lockers give over cash after school elsewhere in the village. Unfortunately though, Nancy has, without knowing about it, sat somewhere where there had been cocaine, so the undercover "guide dog" has marked on her, and caused her to be included among the ones suspected of being part of the drug trade in the school. Leading Cohen and Kiss to conclude she might not have been a random victim when she was attacked with a knife in the school ground. But since they conclude Nancy not to know about the undercover drug dog having identified where the drugs are being stashed, and who distributes it, only that the new arts and music teacher is an undercover officer, they assume it is best to continue having the officer undercover as a decoy, hoping to fool Nancy and her co-conspirators the police know less than what they do. Instead Cohen arranges for phone taps on electronic communication for all the identified members of the gang: Nancy, Sid, Juliet, Jordan and a few others. And after noticing both Kyle and Darren has been convicted in the same drug case, both they, the restaurant, and Grace who were suspected of being involved in the same drug case as Kyle and Darren, are placed under full electronic surveillance.
While the police has been barking up the wrong three, and even have obtained permission to include both Mandy, Luke and Tony and Diane in the same electronic surveillance, the real big boss has made an appearance in Hollyoaks completely under the radar of the extensive surveillance. Felix Westwood has met Jordan, told him to pull himself together and get his business running smoothly, or someone else will be put in his place. And reminds Jordan pension plans are fairly short term in this business, usually all you get is a stone with your name on, and maybe with some flowers next to it.
Despite Cohen and the surveillance team have identified who sells the drugs and who picks up the money afterwards, the national squad think it is too soon to make arrests. Cause so far they have got nothing that ties any of the suspected kingpins (Nancy, Kyle, Darren and the rest) directly to neither the drugs, nor the money. Until they have that, the operation must continue, is the order she receives. The organized crime squad take the fact there is nothing to connect the suspected kingpins to neither the drugs or the money as an indication they are careful and professional in their conduct. Before this, a curious Yasmine, eager to write a story about the occasionally blind arts and music teacher, and who was turned politely down cause the undercover officer didn`t want his face connected to news stories (could be difficult for future false identities and undercover assignments), but he doesn`t tell her that. Instead he says he does not want to be branded by his disability. Not happy with this, Yasmine decides to follow him after school, he spots her easily, but trying to lead her up the garden path with a little detour around the village he is unfortunate enough to run into PC Kiss in civilian clothes. Kiss greets him and starts chatting. Covering up the unprofessional conduct by Kiss, the undercover officer leans in, hugs and kiss the other man, while whispering in his ear he is being followed, this is theater. Kiss soon picks up his role, and the two of them walk hand in hand away from there, with Yasmine staring after them with her jaw dropped from afar.
Yasmine not being the most discrete individual, the news about the arts and music teacher and his policeman boyfriend spreads fast around school. Something now, much later, the organized crime squad wants to utilize. They have read up on all the characters `past, and therefore think former gay Kyle could become easy to befriend if George Kiss and his assumed boyfriend broke up, so Kiss could become the new insider, since the gang knew about the undercover officer at the school. Cohen, worried about Kiss` safety, wonders if it would not be risky to include Kiss - a PC - in something that is more an undercover role. But the leader of the organized crime squad has made up his mind. A newcomer would immediately attract attention in such a small village. But a known PC, no one would think was anything else than that. Therefore he would be their best bet. So one day Kyle is at the Dog a break up between the two officers is staged, and as assumed by the psychologist giving advice on the case, a pretending to be heartbroken George Kiss would soon be offered a comforting chat by a concerned Kyle. The two become friends after just that chat. Some days later Kyle invites him home to meet the family, and they all have a meal together. The more time Kiss spends with Kyle and his family and friends, the less convinced he is of them being drug kingpins. The leader of the organized crime squad is starting to wonder the same. But unlike Kiss who has suggested to Cohen they should stop the surveillance of Kyle, Nancy and the others, and instead go back to stake out the ones they can prove have been in contact with either drugs or money from drugs, and work their way further up the chain from there, the leader of the organized crime squad is worried about his own career prospects, if it emerged ordinary innocent citizens had been victim of surveillance they shouldn`t have been exposed to. And with Kyle and Darren both having been convicted for drugs before, he, together with an underworld figure, arrange to have Kyle and Darren framed for having received a large quantum of cocaine, camouflaging it as a delivery to the restaurant - and using Kyle and Darren`s mobile phones to arrange the delivery, so the evidence will point to them after the restaurant have been raided and the drugs discovered.

(CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS) While all this happened, Ollie had some exciting developments in his life. After having heard on the radio boys who could play football was searched as extras in a movie, he went to the audition, was found to be good enough to advance to further auditions, and there was told he had the age and looks required for the leading roles, did he want to audition for a part, and not just to be an extra. He did, impressed the casting director enough to be selected to audition for the director, writer and producer. When arriving at the acting audition, he was one of around 500 boys there. They were told by a production assistant there was two lead roles needed to be cast, 6 fairly big supporting roles and eleven other supporting roles, all of those would form the national youth football team in the movie. But before the two boys got there, they played on opposite teams in the same city, and they also played a lot of matches against other teams, so even though there looked to be many at the audition, quite a few of them would be offered a part in the movie, and the two leads also would be chosen from that group. But the director, actor and writer of the movie - who would be making the final casting decisions - did not have time to watch near 500 boys audition in front of them. Therefore, to select the right type of personality and skills for each part, they would be asked questions. There would be neither a right, nor a wrong, answer to any of those questions. The purpose was to get the right types of persons to audition for the part they most resembled and had the ability to do. Another thing they had to be aware of, continued the production assistant, anyone auditioning for the lead roles must be able and willing to do semi nudity, which means no frontal, but rear full nudity. Because of some scenes from dressing rooms, and another crucial scene in the movie, semi nudity was required. Also some of the extras and the other supporting roles included semi nudity, but nudity was not required for all the parts. After that they were given a form to fill out, and told to reply to it by e-mail or text with yes or no for each of the numbered questions.
End of resume, thank you to anyone who bothered to read it all. SL continues from here:
When Ollie gets home he is hesitant when filling in his form. Most of the questions are easy for him to answer, but two of them: "Are you willing and able to perform in a semi-nude state of undress?" And: "Do you want to be considered for one of the two lead parts?" makes him hesitate. He goes to talk to Imran about it. Admits that he really would like to go for a lead part, has even been encouraged to do so by the casting director. But that because of that with Buster it might be too much, because of the nudity involved. Imran`s response is immediate: "I know what you mean." Ollie shakes his head: "How can you? It was different for you. You... were able to stop him." Imran looks away, then picks up the courage: "No, I lied in court. I was his victim too. I just couldn`t admit it, cause... You don`t understand! Your not muslim. You don`t.. My family. It is different..." Ollie stops him by touching his hand, then says: "Thank you. Thank you for finally admitting it." Imran is shocked: "You knew!?" Ollie nods: "Off course I knew. He made you the captain of the team during the Barcelona trip - I knew fully well what it took to get that armband. But you helped me in court, you were not ready to say it all, but said enough to get him stopped. I will always be grateful for that." Brody appears further away, Imran points to him, and suggest to Ollie: "Why don`t you ask Brody what he thinks you should do? He has lived with this a lot longer than us."
Elsewhere Felix Westwood is sitting in his car, waiting, when someone jumps into the passenger seat. Felix is not pleased: "You took your time." The other, a man in his early thirties who looks to be getting his fashion advice out of Salvation Army hand out bags, objects: "It is not easy doing something like this in broad daylight, you know." Only now Felix notices what he is wearing: "WTF, Lew! I have had this car vacuumed! What are you wearing?" Lew: "As I told you, not easy to get something like this done in daylight - I needed a disguise." Felix is firm: "And now you are going to need a taxi. Get out!" Lew: "What...???" Felix: You heard. Out!" Lew reluctantly steps onto the pavement, and Felix drives off. Lew tries to attract a taxi by waving his hand, one approaches - but as soon as the driver gets a closer look at Lew, drives off again. Lew: Oh, come on."
Inside Marnie`s little tea shop Marnie is trying to get a customer to speak "French." The customer is not having it: "I am a customer, you want my business or not?" Marnie: "Off course, Sir, how can I help you?" The reply is quick: "Firstly by finding me someone else to be helped by, I have had as much as I can take of you raping the French language. I am French, you see." Marnie quickly fetches Romeo and leaves for the kitchen. The man orders something, sits himself down at a table, looks around to make sure there is no one else there, and waves Romeo over. Romeo: "Is there a problem?" The man smiles: "Not with me, and the food I suppose is as good as it gets straight from a supermarket wrapping, not so sure about your father, though..." Romeo: "My father?" The man shrugs his shoulder: "Something of a surprise to us all, I admit, James having a son. But you are his long lost son, Romeo, are you not? And you are currently living with him, your sister and," he nods to the kitchen, "that in a very nice appartement here in Hollyoaks village, are you not?" Romeo: "I don`t like your tone, or how you refer to my grandmother. I will ask you to leave." The man smiles: "You could always ask, but the answer is I will not. And if you don`t like my tone, you are going to like even less what you are going to do for me." Romeo: (Interrupts) I am not going to do anything for you!"
The man looks bewildered: (French) No? (English) I thought you enjoyed your life with your father, sister and THAT," he points to the kitchen, and continues. "I wonder if you all will enjoy it as much, after your father has lost his license to practice law, and been sent to jail for fraud. Where will the flat, the car and this little business be then?" Romeo: "Who are you?" The man laughs: "I am a very powerful man, who can make life extremely difficult for your father, professionally and financially - unless you help me with something. (Pause) Sit down and I will tell you." Romeo doesn`t move a muscle - but then he sits himself down at the table.
Brody, Imran and Ollie are walking and talking in Hollyoaks village. Brody lifts his arm in a gesture: "I honestly don`t know what to tell you, Ollie, and cant say what I would have chosen, had I been facing this situation. But that doesn`t matter. It is what you want, and think is okay that counts." He looks at Ollie: "What are your thoughts about it?" Ollie turns his head to look at him: "I am scared." Brody: "Then you shouldn`t do it?" Ollie: "Not of the nudity per se. But if I will bottle the nude scene up on set because I will be getting flashbacks to the Buster thing, and they will regret having picked me. Maybe not even be giving another part after, because I botched up a scene and held up the production. That is why I am afraid. I want to be able to tick yes to go for the lead, and yes to be willing to do nude scenes playing another part - but because of the Buster thing I am not sure if I will be able to. (Pause) It is not fair! I bet the others tick yes in each box without even thinking about it. I mean, it is just nudity - not porn. But because of the Buster thing I might not be able to do that type of scene, making myself out of consideration for the lead, and with fewer options to play one of the other parts. This could be my great chance. From what the casting director said, I should go for the lead roles, and had I got one of them, who knows.. more parts might have followed." They walk on, but Imran stops, and stand for a few seconds, thoughtful, before shouting to the other two he has to go, and walk with determined steps towards home.
Inside Marnie`s tea house Romeo is not saying much. Just staring down in the floor with worried, but cold eyes. The man finds that amusing: "I don`t need your answer now. But if you accept this little assignment, you have to make your move before the end of the week - or I`ll will not prevent the ones intending to report your father to both the police and ethical committee of the British Law Society from doing so, by paying them off not too. And one more thing. I am no fool. Make no mistake in thinking so. This conversation will never be repeated, so you can forget about all faint hopes of trapping me with a recording. You have been told what you have to do. If you don`t, your father`s career and freedom will be history. Understood? (Sharper) Understood!" Romeo nods immediately. The man gets up, but stops halfway: "Oh, I almost forgot. You`ll be needing the keys to the flat." He drops them on the table and leaves.

(CONT 2) In the restaurant Mandy is giving Darren a hard time, when Kyle and George Kiss walks in. Mandy is furious: "What kind of idiot lets a hobo into a restaurant kitchen?!" "He was hungry, and there was plenty of leftovers. And I didn`t want him to sit in the restaurant with the paying guests" Darren tries to defend himself. Mandy: "But in the back where we have the safe and most of the valuables, it was okay to leave him, was it!" "I wasn`t..." Darren starts, but Mandy isn`t finished: "You do realize we will have to clean everything in there now. Cause things have been moved, so he HAS been roaming around in there to his heart`s content! What if he had found the safe, eh!?" Darren tries to say something. But Mandy is furious and heads for the kitchen. Darren follows her: "Mandy? I am sorry, Mandy, I wasn`t.. It will never happen again."
Kyle turns to George Kiss: (Jokingly) "Can you believe Darren left my Nancy for her." George Kiss nods: "To me they sound very much alike." Kyle (Puzzled) Do they? (Pause) Well.. I suppose Nancy can be quite.. quite loud sometimes. (Pause) Most times, actually. But she can also be very kind and caring... sometimes. At least I can remember two occasions..." They are interrupted by police storming in through both the door and from the back, and the head of the organized crime squad waving a search warrant in front of Kyle. Kyle reads it, and shocked says: "Narcotics?! You are looking for narcotics." He looks bewildered around, the same with Mandy and Darren who has been forced out from the back. George Kiss looks towards D.S. Cohen, who also is among the new arrivals. But she discretely shakes her head - she hasn`t any idea of why this is being done either. Triumphantly the organized crime squad leaders returns with a sealed box. "That is a delivery from this morning," Darren says. The box is being opened, and inside it are packages which appear to be sugar. The drug squad leader cracks one of them against the corner of a table so it is burst open. But the powder inside it looks suspiciously like sugar. He picks out a litle test kit, places some of the substance into the liquid filled little plastic bag the size of a match box, and shakes it. It doesn`t turn blue. Instead the man holding it turns red. George Kiss, while everyone has been following the drama with the box, has sneaked up next to D.S. Cohen, and now whispers to her: "He found that box awfully quickly, didn`t he?" Cohen agrees: "Didn`t he just," she whispers, and continues, "I don`t think we should trust our friends in the organized crimes unit." "So how do we proceed?" Geaorge Kiss asks her.
Outside in a car, with prime view from afar to the restaurant with civilian and uniformed police cars randomly parked outside, Felix Westwood (behind the wheel) and Lew is sitting. Lew is now dressed as if he should have been James Bond returning from having picked up a suit from Bond street: "I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when they opened the sugar," he laughs. Felix says: "Not so much as I would have enjoyed being one when his bosses starts to wonder where the drugs that should have been logged as evidence yesterday is. Lew: "how much did you pay for the information that this was going to happen?" Felix: "Non of your business! A police snitch who crosses the police is worth more than someone who swaps two parcels." Lew is offended: "I don`t think you appreciate the skill and nerve of getting into a restaurant dressed as someone living on the streets, identify where the parcel is and alert those on the outside when it is safe to deliver the replacement at the backdoor, make the swap, and get oneself out of there without attracting attention. You didn`t even give me a lift back, and I couldn`t get a taxi for more than an hour. A thank you wouldn`t go a miss, factoring in I not only secured the shipment for you. But got your arrested guys out of trouble, since now the drugs they were caught with have been retrieved." Felix sighs: "You claim credit for the head of the anti organized crime unit being foolish enough to use seized drugs to plant too." Lew becomes thoughtful, then says: "That is a very good point. He couldn`t have used the same drugs as evidence in two different cases - and certainly not one day after the first time the drug was seized. So what could be the plan here?" But Felix doesn`t listen, he is too occupied watching the head of the organized crime squad storming out of the restaurant, reaching for his phone. Felix laughs: "Look! He gets away from the others so they will not overhear him creeping and apologizing to his boss."
But the head of the anti organized crime unit is not calling his bosses to apologize. He is calling one of his guys, who currently is posing as an arts and music teacher at Hollyoaks High. When the undercover officer picks up, the head of unit is quick to speak: "You have to get out of there now! Get to a safe house, and stay there. We botched it up. I don`t know how, but we did. So the plan to arrest Kyle and Darren and get them to spill on the rest of the organisation to avoid being sent down for the major bust, while we got the drugs registered a day late, failed. So you must get out of there now. You are no longer safe, should they want to seek revenge for this failed search." A sound is heard from his mobile phone. "I have an incoming," he says, "but you must go now!" He finishes that call and starts the next: "Hello, Sir."
Ollie is at home looking at the form, where two questions haven`t been ticked. He has had days to think about it, but neither dare to tick yes, nor no. But he probably should get his form sent soon, in case the others have sent theirs, and the casting will be done from the ones quickest to reply? But what should he tick for? Suddenly Mandy appears, tells him Imran is there, soon after Imran enters. He is carrying some papers. "What have you got there?" Ollie asks him. Imran doesn`t answer just nods to the form: "Still not made a decision?" Ollie shrugs: "How can I? I don`t want to be the one who ruins an important scene - bit nor do I want to give up the idea of trying for the lead the casting director said I would have been his choice for." Imran: "And is the only thing stopping you the nude thing?" Ollie nods: "Yes, but it is important to the story and the topic of the movie. These are proper film makers, it is nothing sleazy. I just don`t know of I will get flashbacks to the Buster thing, and my emotions will become chaotic on set." Imran hands Ollie the papers: "Maybe this will help?" Ollie reads the title page: CAM BOY by Imran Maalik. He looks at Imran, who explains: "It is a little play I wrote. It is about a boy who is feeling alienated at school and put it in the shadows compared to his friends who are good at either sports, music or politics. But after a chance online encounter in a chat room with someone who encourages him to take off clothes in front of the web cam, and receiving likes and praises for his efforts, the boy is hooked on the positive feedback stripping off for the camera provides for him. My thought was that if you managed to take your clothes off on stage in a play, in front of a crowd, doing so on a film set in front of a much smaller crowd initially - before the movie is being shown to audiences - would not be so daunting. And if it should be more than you can manage, you would probably notice so as soon as you started rehearing? Ollie: "You wrote a play for me." Imran: "It is just a small one."
Ollie: "And you are right. If I am able to be naked on stage, being the same on a film set should also be possible. Thank you! Maybe I can actually prove to myself I can do this."
That is all for now. It is late, and I am hungry. Hope you enjoyed it, and that there wasn`t too many typos, peculiar sentences and similar. I didn`t have time to read through it.
