Sorry, but the ocean liner was not replaced by cruise ships. The advent of jet air travel in the 1950s replaced the need for ships to transport people across the Atlantic. Cruise ships and ocean liners are not the same thing. Ocean liners existed to transport people from point A to point B. Lusitania was known as "The greyhound of the seas" for its speed and regulatory.

Bananas were considered bad luck because when they rotted they produced gas that could cause other fruit in the same hold to ripen faster than they could be delivered. Cruises are fun to go on and after going on one after 7 year hiatus, and pleased that they have streamlined the check-in process and cut it from 1-2 hours from 2017 to 30 mins max now and the muster drill can be completed by visiting your station, checking in and watching the safety video from your room or phone instead of everyone going and standing for 15-20 mins. Just cant believe that once cruise is done, they only take a few hours to clean and flip the boat for the next voyage and kinda wish it was longer to give the boat a more deep cleaning considering that half of the passengers always return sick with something. Also, those who go on cruises, for your steward of your room, making a gift basket for just $20 of sweets snacks can make a world of difference for them since all of them are not from Europe or USA.
If you’ve worked in the service/hospitality industry, and you’ve ever thought your job was sooo hard… man, try working 90+ hour weeks on a cruise boat. No days off, only shifts off if you’re lucky. No sick days. The skin on your feet basically break and then harden so much you don’t feel the blisters and splints. I’d said it’s more like working in a hospital as a nurse, since you’re basically taking care of people all day and always on your feet, up and down stairs. But you don’t go home for months rather than sleeping in your own, comfortable bed at night. And yes, it is like military barracks, no windows, on some boats up to 12+ roommates and only one bathroom. It’s a lifestyle to work and be in a new place everyday, but it’s really hard to become accustomed to. When you’re back on land it’s like being freed from prison💀
The cruise ships being used off dock in Katrina were paid for by taxpayers through FEMA Nothing is free. Some man, woman, or family is paying for it. Or the government gives them a huge 3 to 10 x tax break, and our taxes go up and put more money in the owners' pockets. 😮 I have talked to and interviewed many crew staff And their pay check is way below minimum wage for the number of hours they work and mandatory that they be on ship for months at a time. Their treatment is less than fair. Unless you are in upper management.

10:27 this gives me SO much anxiety! Even the most well-behaved pet can still be unpredictable. Youd have to always have your dog on a leash, even in your room incase they sprint out the door, if you have a cat you are limited to ocean view or interior because a lot of cats will get on the railing or run out when you arent ready. You'll also have to worry about doors, the doors on ships are HEAVY and can swing shut faster then youd expect sometimes, especially balcony doors when youre at sea. I always stay in a balcony and every cruise ive heard people cursing because the door closed on its own or slammed. The partitions between balaconies also have large gaps under them so they can go to anyones balcony. What if, god forbid, something happens and you have to abandon ship? You are now adding the extra time to go back to your room and find your pet or lose them. There is so much that can go wrong and its just not worth it. Service animals are different, theyre always on a harness and attached to their owner on top of years of professional training. Ultimately, though, the risk just isnt worth it in my opinion. I go on 7-8 day cruises, i actually have 2 planned for this year already, and my kitties stay home. My parents come and visit them and feed them, if my parents are with me then another family member does, and they send us pictures and videos the whole time (free international texting to our cruise locations and we can text through the wifi) so we know they are ok. Nice video, but you have a couple mistakes: service animals are allowed on Carnival Cruise Lines ships, only with proper documentation. I don’t know if they charged extra for this. Carnival also had plenty of champagne costing less than $100, including really cheep stuff that was given away as prizes in some entertainment activities. Fact 33: 3 types of wastewater. Bilge water (water that collects in the lowest part of the ship's hull and may contain oil, grease, and other contaminants), sewage, and gray water (wastewater from showers, sinks, laundries and kitchens).
Afaik, the Captains of MeinSchiff vessels by TUI Cruises actually can perform weddings that are legally binding and accepted in the EU. Apparently this is due to the fact that the vessels are registered in Malta and due to some special legal magic of theirs that result in the marriage being legally recognized by Malta and consequently all other EU members.

The code thing every retail job I worked uses codes. Like my last job was a supermarket, service 50 was trash run becuase I guess saying were doing a garbage run was "bad" as the compactor was under lock and key for saftey, we had managers with keys call a service 50 over walkies or the PA to let us know in say the deli we nedd to send our trash to the back room. Same deal service 1at time meant you were requesting more cash it was rare to say on PA but in deli we would page the front end then tell who ever called us to tell front end in charge of cash we needed a service 1 meaning our till at deli needed cash pick up, and more change or bills., And I talked to others in same change seems every store has its own "codes" for same thing with some crossover only because mangers got in habit.
#49 is wrong. The Largest Ship is Royal Carribbean Icon of the Seas
MAX pass is 7600 with 2350 crew
Fact 33: 3 types of wastewater. Bilge water (water that collects in the lowest part of the ship's hull and may contain oil, grease, and other contaminants), sewage, and gray water (wastewater from showers, sinks, laundries and kitchens).
The last place I would go on my vacation is a cruise ship
Afaik, the Captains of MeinSchiff vessels by TUI Cruises actually can perform weddings that are legally binding and accepted in the EU. Apparently this is due to the fact that the vessels are registered in Malta and due to some special legal magic of theirs that result in the marriage being legally recognized by Malta and consequently all other EU members.
The REAL reason it took so long for a woman captain is the MANY YEARS OF SEAS EXPERIENCE needed to be a Captain! There's no "shortcut".
9:39 Wasn’t one of the plot points at the end of Life of Pi is one of the investigators saying bananas don’t float?

10:11 There's no way you could get me on a ship that features a decadent band like KISS ( Kings In Satan's Service) That'd be worse than prison!
30 minutes and 29 seconds the Costa Concordia sank on January 13th 2012 not January 13th 2013.
