Hello Everyone, I thru hiked the Pacific Crest Trail last year in 2017 and these are my videos from my amazing adventure. I will be releasing a video for almost everyday I was on trail, which was 172 of the best days of my life!
Hope this big series will be helpful in planning your own PCT thru hike in the future.
Enjoy and Happy Trails Everyone!
Started my SOBO PCT trip on July 9th 2017 and ended it on Dec 27 2017
Cameras I was using,
4K Sony Action Cam FDR X3000 for my video and for my stills I was using my Sony a6000.
They both performed really well!
In case anyone is wondering about the gear I brought out, I made a gear video before I started my thru hike. Here is the link

Thanks for taking me hiking with you today!!! Another great day on the PCT!!!!
Wow! It seems that everyone you encountered on the trip were just amazing!
Amazing!!
Yeah I really dig your style of vlogging... So chill yet exciting views.
Outstanding.

Generous gift from the couple that emptied their vehicle and gave y'all a ride into town!
one of my favorite day hikes Kearsarge Pass down to the K Lakes...
I absolutely love that stretch.
Spent a night beside Kearsarge Lakes in 2014 and caught a few fish too.
What was your pack base weight on the PCT?
You have a different tent to the CT and no fishing gear, what else did you change for the PCT because your pack still looks very heavy!
I think the vids are brilliant, the best backpacking vids I've seen on TH-cam so far.
Awesome vid again. Love these videos. Just started documenting my hikes too. Doing the Trans-Catalina trail this week 😍
Just cant get enough of this series. You got a way of filming and capturing the overall feel and community not many vloggers can. You think youll be doing a series on your L2H route you did? Would be helpful info for a trip plan i got.
You and me both! Never though I was going to like TH-cam so much...
I will be making a video of each day on the L2H, probably put them up on TH-cam when the PCT videos are done.
Thank you for sharing your amazing journey with us. Please keep on posting on TH-cam
too bad a bout the smoke.. we're being rained on by ash currently up here from fires in Napa area (again)... can never get enough of Kearsarge area awesome video
Being part of a trail family, did you feel less opportunities to take care of personal hygiene and cooking at your leisure? Did you feel more pressure to keep with the group and not hike at your own pace?
Over all we were a group that all kind of hiked at the same pace and we usually made a plan on how far we were gonna go that day so we end up at the same place again but all at different times, still kinda hiking your own hike at your own pace and having that solitude everyone likes but then camping with them, I liked eating lunches and suppers with the group and seeing what everyone was eating, I was always offering food to everyone, I usually had an abundance of food haha. I still cleaned up every night with or with out camping with the Tramily.
Over all I loved hiking with the group I was in, made the entire experience so much more enjoyable, Like when I reached the halfway mark or the wedding,
it was great to share moments like that with them!
Question for ya brother. Up to this point, what’s been your favorite town that you visited? These videos make my day! Thanks again brother for sharing this epic adventure!!!
Hi Zach, wow that's a tough one, I liked so many of the cool little towns we went into. Idlewild was really cool.
Yeah, kind of an unfair question. Thanks for the reply! Looking forward to the rest of the trip!
8:57 My favorite freeze frame..no wait, 9:08
Where's the storm, no rain no snow. What's going on in the mountains.
Sorry if I missed it GOAT... I think I heard you mention on your equipment list prior to the first PCT trip (?) that you had a Surface 4 but you were not going to carry it? Are you carrying it or something else on the second PST trip? I've watched so many of your videos now I'm a bit fuzzy, especially after drinking beer (or two+) with you again (by internet proxy). I ask because my planned Colorado Trail trip is expanding thanks to you, and while I'm not as videogenic as you, I may want to do some editing to share with friends. Mostly curious but still.. Looks like you have a lovely lady along with you on this one, and maybe other trips as well. Awesome! Sent you a FB request to follow you that way as well. (David F.) And to wrap it up... What's the origin of HurlgoatHiker? Safe trails and many thanks for all the content, info and motivation!
I don't have a surface pro, but was really debating on buying one to take with, but I'm glad I didn't and I'm not sure I ever will, it would be to much to do after a days hike.
I captured all my footage and after the trail I edit it all.
Ahh. Misunderstood. I was about to say.. Sounds like a lot of work after your probably gassed from the long hikes! Thanks for the info
Ya no problem, Enjoy your trip man, if you have any other questions, give me a shout.
