Faced the same exact issue with a 2012. What a great thinker you are to solve problems like this so easily ! Thanks a ton also. It worked great for me. And also, yes, one might crack open a beer or too thinking of what we might have paid for ($1400) !🥛 Thank you very much !

I have 2014 Avalon with 40k miles. I make a turn to the right and I hear a sound at the middle right edge of the car. Sounds basically like a large can of soup hitting the side of the car. When I make a left turn it sounds more like metal hitting plastic and more at the back.... At first I thought it was something in the truck like the jack but it's all firm. Definitely not front suspension. Kind of feels like the muffler is hitting the side but they feel pretty firm. Any ideas?

there's a vid somewhere about rear sway bar bushing's being loose and causing a noise.....doesn't take much slop to make it noisy.......that's what fixed my noise

my 2011 avalon was clunking from there over certain bumps....tried that 19 mm nut and it was already tight..loosened it up a bit and drove it..holy crap that noise must've drove you nuts !!..tried smearing rtv under the spacer under the nut and then under the washer/nut combo....we'll see tomorrow after the rtv sets up.....great vid tho...thanks ....

@@onlyonecannoli3952 turns out no...i was hoping the rtv would do something but no .....turns out it was the rear sway bar bushing's making the clunking noise

Wasn't the noise I was searching for to fix...but thanks for sharing! My wife's is making a 7 second noise when she goes into reverse....only for the first time after starting it up....after it's made it's noise if she goes into reverse again, it does not make the noise. It sounds like a motor or something, with a bit of clunk...clunk...clunk....but no idea what it would be. It's near the speakers in the rear panel best we can locate (from vibration). Anyway, thanks gain for sharing!

I wonder if this will apply to the 2001 Avalon? I know it is different, but could be the same basic setup.

How did you get the impact driver in position to tighten the bolt? I was in there today and there isn't a whole lot of room.

2005 to 2012 Avalon this clunking noise 90% come when it’s cold weather because of the rear suspension bushing just spray silicon inside the bushing where it connect with metal most of the time it work

Welp....guess that's not what was causing the clunking in mine. I'd better keep looking. It was already tight but I threw some loctite on it and cranked on it pretty good. No change. Thanks anyway.
