- Shawn and Carrie Purdy are the parents of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. Their son had a memorable first year in the NFL as a rookie out of Iowa State this past season, beginning the year as the team’s third-string quarterback but - thanks to injuries - being called upon to finish the final five games of the regular season.
Brock performed admirably and led the 49ers to the playoffs, helping San Francisco win two postseason games before injuring his right elbow and falling to the Philadelphia Eagles, 31-7, in the NFC championship game.
Today on the podcast, we talk to Carrie about the last 12 months, watching Brock get drafted and have success on the field, and staying faithful to God.

I'm old and have been a fan of the NFL, and I can only say that I have seen so many high draft picks fail early in their careers (some never make it), and none that I am aware have come close to what Brock has accomplished! What a player he is and will continue to be great!!!!!
Lifelong Niners fan....Credit to Brock's mom and dad for raising a really good young man off the field. He's modest, grounded, gives credit to all of his teammates. He is the definition of a leader and as a father of a daughter, he is a gentleman and no doubt respectful and chivalrous when it comes to women. He's a role model for young boys both on and off the field. Kudos to mom and dad!!!
I usually don't pay much attention to football game. But I have respect for Brock who is such fine young man with God-given gift. Will surely pray for his success.

Not many parents get to experience watching their child achieve something like this. What it must be like to sit there and watch your son play in the NFL each week. Not just play but show the potential to be really great. You have to give his parents some credit, Purdy seems so well grounded and that's a reflection of his upbringing.

Thank You Father God for blessing this young man! I have always been a 49’s fan since 1981 when I first saw the Niners with Joe Montana as quarterback. I didn’t watch football as much until that first game because I was SO IMPRESSED with how ‘football’ was played 🧐 and learned so much after that. Now I watch how this young man is playing and I am MORE IMPRESSED about football 🏈. It is very humbling to watch such talent and skill, and now watching this video with his mom giving a shout out to the LORD has made me so Happy! Blessings to the entire team because they all work together with Brock and the 49’s are going far!

Brock's family, Christian's family, and George Kittle's family are such good and wonderful people. You can see the love and the tight bonds between the parents and their kids. It's so refreshing to see. Explains why these guys are such good role models.

The first impression I had with Brock in his first preseason appearance was his quick release , good pocket awareness and mental process of the game . I thought we may have something here . After Tampa bay and Seattle , I was certain he will be the starter for the 49ers down the road .

I think this is the first time I’ve seen a 49ers QB family interviewed. I love this whole underdog, Mr Irrelevant story. I recently watched the Kurt Warner story and it’s fantastic too.
There was an interview with Kittle’s family I believe or at least with him about his family. I seem to remember something about him getting special letters or emails everyday from his Dad. It was really cool. I wish I could remember where I saw it. Great piece.

This quarterback of the 49er half is a good quarterback, and he’s gonna get better. Yes, that was his first time in the Super Bowl. I know he was nervous. Maybe I’m wrong, but we got a good quarterback I like everything of the style of throwing the ball moving around I really like this sport I really do. I am impressed, especially in the regular season when they pay Pittsburgh he was just dodging these balls. I’m thrown the ball to the receivers man. Wow.😊😊

In my opinion NFL QB's get to much credit and receivers do not HOWEVER, Young Purdy's receivers did not have to make diving catches or some other type of fantastic catch because Pudry (for the most part) hit his receivers smack-dab in the bread-basket. I've never seen a QB in the NFL that consistantly hit his receivers in the hands ..... I'm impressed and this young man (Brock Purdy) is for REAL and at the moment I don't see anyone beating the 49'ers.

January 2024. Niners headed to SB. I’ll take Brock, instead of the flash and dance QB, any day. Playoff time is crunch time. Lamar threw an interception into the endzone with his receiver being covered by 3 defenders. Jordan Love threw an interception on his final drive that eliminated his team. On 4th down, Jared threw the ball into the grassy field and handed the ball back to his opponent. Dak? dak? So what that Purdy threw one INT in the championship; important thing is he corrected and dug in for the kill. That’s what a smart tough guy does. Big win. Purdy shows up to the stadium wearing Carhartt, other QBs show up in their wild color pimp suits. I’ll take the guy who gets the job done.

Young talked alot but didn't sat anything substantive about similarities between Joe and Brock. Regarding preparation, when Joe met with Bill W to go over Denver's defense on film before then Super Bowl where the Niners destroyed them, after the film ran Joe asked Bill, Is that all they do? Joe was always uber prepared.
Brady had 100+ people at that game because he was in his hometown area.
