Many people video their drive on Highway 1, but never really "stop" at local places. I love that you actually show those. I've been up/down Highway 1 between San Simeon and Monterey at least 50 times now....and it NEVER gets old!
Thanks for noticing!! Ali’s brother lives on Highway 1 so he always shows us great places to go! I’m very pleased you’ve done that stretch 50 times and say it never gets old as we have MANY more times to go, we hope!! 🚗☀️
the only other places I'd add to your great video is Davenport just north of Santa Cruz. You might think it's too small but it's got a great hotel and restaurant and a great ocean view right across the street from the hotel. The other place is Pescadero where you can find great seafood and it is also the area where they grow straw flowers, which you can see fields of.I haven't been to either place in decades, but I bet they are just about exactly the same - Oh! and you can't forget the Pigeon Point Lighthouse and Hostel. It was great fun back when I stayed there in the late 80s and very clean and decent. We picked the left over brussel sprouts from the field next door after the machines were through, and we all shared our food. Great fun. Thanks again for this video - loved the view from Nepenthe.

Your videos keep getting better and better! And I didn't think that could be possible considering the already high standard of your prior videos! Really enjoyable and informative!
Thanks Jason, really appreciate that!!! Now the pressure's really on for the next one!!! Ha ha!! We're really pleased you're enjoying our videos - and thanks for letting us know as it spurs us on to make more!
@@LifeOfReillyTV I’m planning to do the trip (finally after a few problems) on August 24. We want to do it in two days from San Francisco to LA. Couldn’t find your message where I remember you answered this question. Please let me know where should be the best place to stay the night.
Hi Gabriel, if you’re doing it in two days (one overnight stop) I’d book a hotel/motel anywhere between Ragged Point and Pismo Beach. Take your pick from the video, if there’s a spot that appeals to you more. Or if you’d rather do more driving Day 1 or Day 2.
I agree that’s it has many more beautiful beautiful spots, than not. But they keep saying everybody is leaving CA, but I say, where and when. In LA we attract the wrong people because of the great weather and so many beautiful coastal cities. And many come here unprepared, and those that don’t make it, end up homeless in LA or San Fran!! 😢
YES!! Great that you found us!! Lots of our Californian friends say they learn more about where they live from our videos!! Ha ha. Hope your trip goes well. 😎👍
Planning a 4 night trip from San Francisco to LA. Where would you recommend as 2 overnight stops? I was thinking Monterey and San Simeon. But after watching this, perhaps Cambria or Pismo Beach is better? Great vid! I'll have to go watch your first vid now!
Hi Linda, it's totally up to you. Monterey is amazing but quite close, so you'll have further to drive on your final days. We stopped in San Simeon and Santa Barbara, but we were going down to San Diego. I would definitely stop in Cambria over San Simeon - as they're so close. Take a look at our website itinerary. The Four Day idea is right at the VERY BOTTOM!! www.lifeofreilly.tv/tag/pacific-coast-highway/
Loving these videos, planning my families trip! Also we did East coast version of this in New England, I could see you guys doing a series on that too!
@@LifeOfReillyTV Oh, I'm planning a trip from LA to San Fran by car and saved every suggestion you made on my Google Maps list. One question... you briefly show a rock just off-shore with a square hole in it and waves crashing all around. Where is that located? Thanks!
@@LifeOfReillyTV Also, your point to stop and have a drink at the Big Sur Inn by the water's edge is a great idea that I would not have known about if you hadn't pointed that out. Most awesome! Going to try and do that.
Ahh, cool. It's a fun one to plan and do. The place you're talking about is called Pfeiffer Beach. We didn't give much time to it in this video because we went into detail in our main Road Trip video. Have a watch, if you haven't stumbled across it already: th-cam.com/video/HfcckBSy-4c/w-d-xo.html
Nice. We thought this was a cool little stop, too!! There are just so many places to stop, it really does make it difficult to plan everything! Maybe add an extra day on, so you can take it slow?
Ha ha. Don’t worry, Mae. We have to moderate every comment as we have kids in the videos and want to make sure we make sure the troll comments don’t get published. Thanks for commenting - you can never write enough!! 😀
@@LifeOfReillyTV NOT at all crazy, I love how brave and courageous you are guys!!! You inspire other families! Do you used GPS different than Google maps on the road? How many days you needed, and how much money for all family? I am planning to organize such trip for myself. 🦋
Thank you!!!! 😊 We used Google maps. We made a video which plots out the days/times: th-cam.com/video/HfcckBSy-4c/w-d-xo.html We did it over three days, which still felt a little rushed. I'd try doing it over four days so you can stop more. Our website has a four day itinerary. The cost depends on how much you want to spend on hotels/motels. You can spend $500 for the trip or $500 per night. Having said that, even the motels are expensive in this area because they know there aren't many on PCH! Good luck with your planning!! Let us know how the trip goes!!
nice country ,please and please be careful about natural disaster in your country but i wish you are fine and have a nice day with peace and have a good healthcare and going an oher country and no death in your country
No, we shot it in August but have only just got around to editing it. Funnily enough though, there’s less coastal fog in the Fall rather than the summer.
@@LifeOfReillyTV Wonderful!!! We are thinking about following your route the week after Christmas. But I see the weather forecast shows Partly Cloudy/Mostly Sunny. Do you think this is a good time for us? Thanks.

Such a shame. Just read the news reports. It’s a hazard of the local geography. We hope the road opens again soon.
