    At the start and in the middle of theses project things often look like such a hopeless mess. Then a few weeks goes by and like magic everything is graded out and job site is neat as a pin. Chris's skill and artistry never fails to amaze me.

    I was holding my breath while you were spreading the dirt out around that spring. I had a feeling that you were going to get your dozer stuck. Getting stuck isn’t so bad when you have the equipment to dig it out near by. I doubt there’s much of a chance of the head section drying out anytime soon as long as that spring is still running. Spreading that dirt out will definitely help it to dry out everywhere except where the spring is. The owner definitely needs to put some field tile in to help drain that area. That’s going to be a job in itself with it being so wet.

      I was about to ask Chris if he ever hires someone like DP to install drain tile. Looks like that farm could benefit from that procedure.

    Kenny Komatsu found the wet spot that might be one of ground water spring outlets. Good save. All of the tracks are mudded up enough so we don`t hear any squeeking.

    You had that ol d6 moving pretty good. You make it look nimble lol. Idk why, but most guys (me included) love seeing the old iron still out there in the production.
    In years and years when you wear it out, ull be able to rebuild it, too.

    Head section certainly is a water course near unseen good for filling in ponds but not for dozer operators attempting to transform an area into usable land. Nice fleet you have there LetsDig18..

    That’s is a huge fuel bill. Private farm with 500 gal tank was big enough when I was doing things. Bad enough to buy gas for mower every week.
    Love the set up, worth the investment for sure.

    The Komatsu is a lighter machine but it also has less track surface. It would be interesting to know the pressure per square foot of contact.

    I'll trade you that wetness for some dust. I don't think I have ever seen it so dusty where I'm at in the thumb of Michigan. We haven't had rain in over two weeks and the next predicted rain is two weeks away. There are farmers still getting their crops in and behind every tractor is half mile long dust cloud.

    Something that may be interesting to subscribers is for Chris to walk through how he estimates the price of a project. Not numbers, but what are the factors in the quote. Like how does he determine the time for excavation, hauling, tree and stump removal, grading, compacting, fine finish, seeding and hay, etc.

      @@letsdig18 Industry standard is Clear/Grub/burn Per/Acre. Mass Grading is done Per Cubic Yard. We figure Finish Grade Per Sq Ft. The way he goes about stuff some times like today I hope he works by the hour.

      Mike Dirt Perfect kinda explained the basics but I'm sure there's some issues not covered in the estimates.
      I'm lucky in that I charge a service call then a basic per circuit board per type charge.
      I've been doing board repairs on pinball and arcade games for 40 years so I pretty much know how long it's going to take except pinball solenoid / lamp driver boards.
      Those are per hour.
      Rest flat rate.
      $125 plus major parts on old CRT monitor chassis.
      Same on a Ms. Pac Man mother board as I know by issue exactly which chips caused the problem.
      I love watching you operating excavation equipment.
      Wish I'd gotten into it when I was young.
      No dealing with clients who can't understand that they really are paying for my knowledge and abilities.
      Fortunetly for me there's not that many gane techs left alive from my era and young people are more into computers these days which I do also repair along with modern tv's.
      I've gotten 5 free led tv's from sports bars then fixed.
      Almostgot a 90 inchfrom one of my best sportsbar customersI repair and recover his pool tables for. Unfortunately he had to prove he destroyed it the Dumpster it to have the warrenty approved.

    Anyone know if there is an infrared camera that could be used on the drone to show the underground springs? Seems like this site is going to be on hold until we get a very long dry spell or figure out exactly where the springs are.
    Sorry, Chris...4 feet of pine debris one place, 4 feet of mud in the other. ☹️

    One of my favorite Chris statements, "It is what it is." I guess it IS a little muddy. Surprised you don't need mats to get the excavator around the job site. That sharpshooter shovel is going to get a lot of use. It is going to be a nice pond even if the area looks more like a mud wrestling pit than a job site. I love watching Chris work a blade as much as operating an excavator.

    It like the only way that area will ever be dry is if the property owner installs field tile to pull the water out. The tile can drain into the pond to help keep it full.

    Fairly sure that is never going to dry out. There is an underground spring there and it will most likely always be somewhat wet and unusable. Probably should have been dug out a little and made part of the pond.

    from what i've seen that little dozer isn't good for anything other than finish work. newer dozers just are not as good as older ones IMO. they just don't have the power needed. regulated into uselessness.

    When you got stuck and tried to use the blade to push yourself out, when it sunk it was just like that flop you pull out of the bottom of the ponds your dredge. If you didn't bottom out the dozer, you probably would have sunk to the cab... not quite a bad as that excavator you recovered.. but that slop was not much better.

    Need to revert back to the mud mat squeegee method of grading. I did think you would get stuck a few more times. Good job getting something done under those conditions.
