The first time I seen the GE all in one I told myself I would never buy one. Now two years later I'm looking to buy one. I have done my home work guys and GE model is the winner for me. I love LG even the price is good for one of these units but the time it take to wash and dry and only a 1 year warranty vs a 5 year warranty on the GE well its a no brainer. We love our LG washer and dryer, but we are going with the GE all in one. Thank you, guys, for discussing both LG and GE. units. Love the videos and especially all the information. We have 55 acres and with all the dirty that comes with that i can confidently say with buying the GE i have made 1 of the best purchase decisions of my life honestly. Its a workhorse, just have to maintain the cleanliness of the filter system. Its like buying a staccato. It runs the best. But you gotta keep her lubed well.
Just watched the video and read the blog. Thanks for the comparison. We were leaning LG after reading about lint issues on the GE, but after your comparison, we might grab the GE (hopefully a pair) for the warranty and faster cycle times. Another point in favor of the GE: There's an option to add 3 additional gallons of water to both the main wash and rinse cycles. One video I saw of a wash with this option made the tub look like a commercial washer: water was sloshing around and the load was well-submerged. This is GREAT for folks who use additives like washing soda and percarbonate. The LG does allow for at least 2 more rinses, but the load won't be submerged the same way.
We have the GE. We love it. We do clean the filter every wash and dry, just as we did with a normal dryer. So no big deal. I was blown away at how good it was with washing and drying. Only annoying thing about it is, the bottom filter. So happy we got the pedestal, as this filter can have lots of water in it when cleaning.
GE has had its ups and downs in appliances for sure and we've lived them as our house built in 2004 was all GE. However, we've used Samsung, LG and others for washers, dryers, refrigerators and dishwashers. What we've found is none are great for longevity, but the GE wasn't diverged from length of reliability either. The original oven is still in service (flat cook top had 1 burner replaced in all these years). So we took the leap and got the GE washer/dryer Combo. Just hit 40 loads completed and we l love how it operates. Its performance is what we expected and we really focus on keeping it clean as required due to feedback found online. What I can't say is how reliable it will be. We got it on a big sale but hope it will last at least as well as the last set even if we have to do some repairs. About 12 years is all we've gotten without hugely expensive repairs on LG or Samsung, but I expect this one may need more repairs based on it being new tech and first generation. We'll see, but so far it's awesome.
I have water hookups and a drain pipe, but no out vent. I have no choice but to opt for the combo unit. I bought the LG and thus far it's been great. Cleaning the lint filter after each wash and dry cycle is not a big deal for me.
Re: depth and extra 4” recommended behind unit to wall, to clarify, LG says that about ALL its washers including the non heat pump WashTowers, specifically to have adequate room for the water supply and drain hoses. But in practice they don’t really need anywhere near that much space behind them for the hoses. Also, the rears of these units aren’t flat and have certain parts that stick out deeper, so the hoses, which have recessed connectors and on which you can and should use L-shaped supply hoses, can be tucked and draped behind the less-deep areas, don’t require more than 1” of depth to the rear wall. Long story short, if the WashCombo is x” deep and a WashTower or other w/d is also x” deep, they will fit in the same depth space, and you definitely don’t need 40” of depth for one to fit well.
Thank you so much for the info - I was looking all over the place for this 4" depth requirement and you cleared it right up for me. Our laundry closet is only 32" deep, so we figured that we could just remove the closet door and have the LG sit flush (Aside from the unit's door) with the surrounding wall. Should be doable without this 4" issue.
Have you seen or done any testing on the LG's self cleaning coils? If that works well I could see how it makes a difference in longevity. Also, do you know why/how the GE is able to advertise 0" clearance needed in the rear while LG requires 4"? It seems crazy that they would make it unable to fit in most conventional closets
I bought the LG. I sent it back. There were a lot of issues, but at the end of the day, it does not do what it says it can do. If you have a huge load of towels, then buy a clothes line because that stuff is going out in the backyard to dry. If you do exactly 10 pounds, then will it dry in 2 hours? No, it will not. It’s more like 2.5 or 3. We used if for a couple weeks until they came to get it, but we found ourselves doing small loads (less than 10 lbs) and then it worked OK and was able to complete a cycle in 2 hours. Another problem was a 10 lbs load required us to stop and rebalance the load during the spin cycle. This is apparently normal for this device. They even give you instructions for how to properly stack clothes in dryer to try to prevent this or if it happens. That does not work. The only thing that does work is to do smaller loads like 5 to 8 lbs. Overall it was not a bad machine for an all in one, but it was simply not going to work for us and our needs and was too expensive for what you get.
I have the LG and don’t have any balance issues. I have washed a full heavy linen quilt and king size linen bedding and no issues. This is a really heavy load. All my normal loads are under 3 hours and it has been fantastic. I have 2 toddlers so tons of laundry and it saves us a ton of time with not having to swap the load and can set it before going out or at night.
I just did what I would consider a full load of towels (75% of the drum) and it completed in 2.5 hrs. haven't had any balance issues besides once with a cal king comforter but that's fairly normal
GE has pretty genrously space fins in the coil unit which in the long run are going to make cleaning/build up much easier to fix. The LG fins are basically a stacked microfin array which is going to get plugged eventually and be impossible to clean without damaging the fins.
Great video. For the LG with their longstanding issues with compressors I would have to wait before thinking about buying one. But owning a conventional LG front loader I have been happy with my machine. However, even with my LG I've had clearance issues, because I had to remove the folding doors to my laundry closet to accommodate the greater depth that the LG had over my old Maytag. That is a reason why I might consider an all-in one heat pump, if it is more compact in depth, so I can put those darn doors back on.
I would be more concered with which one performs better over time, not at time of testing when new. I recently replaced my washer and dryer and did not want to take the risk on combination units like these when the reputation in the past has not been good for this type of machine.
What's so much better about the GE in-house service department. If you don't buy from a dealer that provides service, LG has a a network of independent service technicians. May not be in-house, but warranty repairs are still taken care of.
I had both and used both for over 3 weeks. They are fantastic units. I stuck with the LG for AI wash, app function, appearance, reliability of other units, experience with heat pumps, and the lint filter. The lint filter on the GE let to much through as after just 2 weeks of use I could see build up. With no easy way to clean it off compared to the auto rinsing of the LG. To me seemed like the better way to go because of how important that component is to this wash/dryer. Also my GE unit door arrived scratched and they shipped a broken door to me along with other issues making their service to me very sketchy. I did find that the dryer does take a bit longer in the LG. I believe it might be because of the smaller heat pump being used. The few minutes I observed was not a big deal as I do loads during the day while away or at night. An added bonus is the pedestal of the LG is a bit higher which can be a small washer or a laundry basket in the pedestal which I find extremely convenient. Hope this helps someone.
If you do a deep dive thru the manuals, LG also says you should have 12.5” clearance above the top of the washer.. (In addition to the extra 4” in the back). Lg’s installed depth dimension with door open may also impact where a custom can install… Question for you tho, can you tell us what the wash times v. Dry times between the two brands were? (Rather than combined) It might help me decide which has the better dryer function. Is LG’s largely based on higher heat? Or is GE lower heat, but bigger fan assisted air flow? Generally I like LG appliances & their washers, but agree GE’s customer service & warranty on this combo is far superior in this case.
This is a solid point! Dry times could reflect the difference in heat pump design. I know they said LG's is rated higher wattage, but GE in general seems more thoughtfully designed. I wonder what their engineers have to say about customers hacking their filter with tape to block lint buildup.
One other comment / question / suggestion for another video please…. How do these 2 units compare vs the LG WashTower with heat pump dryer in terms of performance, features, and energy usage? Steve always points out how these combo units can’t wash and dry 2 loads at once like traditional separate w/d, so it stands to reason the WashTower heat pump may be the best of both worlds. But what’s the situation with that dryer’s lint filter and coils? Doesn’t it just have the same standard lint filter as all WashTowers? Why does the heat pump WashTower need a 240V/30A electric outlet for its dryer-in addition to a standard 120V outlet for its washer-if it has a heat pump dryer that uses so much less electricity???
As I said previously in comments of other videos. The GE is my pick due to the more powerful blower, higher BTU heat pump, better warranty, and possibly better filter (with some room for improvement). Before the Yale test came out I could tell GE would probably dry better overall, but I know LG with their famous quicker wash cycles is probably a good reason it got through the colors quicker. I would like to know if this is correct, but my guess would be the wash cycle was shorter for the LG color test, and the spin cycle did most of the drying. With the GE the wash cycle usually lasts about 50 minutes depending on how big of a load, and what you select for how dirty the load is. I think the GE pulled away in the other three tests since large article loads rely heavily on the drying ability of the washer over since they can retain a lot of that moisture after the spin cycle. I'd love to hear other opinions or thoughts on this. Only time will tell however, but I'm certain those who clean the machine by the book or better will have a long lasting machine. Especially if they make sure to deep clean the coils if they ever notice any buildup and a quick brush or vacuum after so many loads. The GE has a small slit you can access the coils with before disassembling the top. The LG filter seems easy enough, but there is some minor disassembly required before you can see the coils. A quick disclaimer: I've owned a GE Ultrafast Combo since launch, and recently had a warranty replacement done by best buy so I actually had the option to switch over to LG, but after a quick consideration I felt for the reasons I mentioned above would be why I chose to just have Best Buy send us another GE. Keep in mind the unit needed replacement because the geek squad installers messed up in addition to other factors unrelated to GE's design.
I looked at both the LG and the GE, eventually settling on the GE. The LG looks better and has a smaller footprint but the LG does not dry as fast the heat pump system in the LG is half the size of the GE and with all the problems with LG refrigerators that took me away from them. The GE works amazingly well the cycles mean very little to me as our family hardly uses more than 2 of them anyhow.

Still have questions…. - does LG really have “self cleaning coils” as their marketing video says and shows in an animation, and if so, how does thar actually work and does that mitigate any concern about lint build up on its coils vs GE? - why would LG need so much depth if it’s 4-6” shallower physically than 40” and if it has no vent? - which LG SideKick pedestal washer is compatible with WashCombo and what do you think about that application? - how much electricity do the LG and GE use, both in terms of max kW draw at any one moment during their cycles and total kWh consumed to wash and dry comparable loads? - how do they compare to each other on noise?
Self cleaning coils.....Bosch has them in their compact washer. It pumps the lint through the wash. In the words of our tech, it pumps the lint through the hoses. We will see
I agree on the depth issue 4 inches behind the LG unit that doesn’t have a vent makes no sense. I service high end commercial kitchen equipment and self cleaning coils are a fantasy, the best thing is good filtration.
My LG is using around 0.9-1.1 kWh for a full wash and dry. The coils are staying extremely clean and the lint filter works so well on the LG. One thing to check is the seal on the Lg lint trap might be creased over from the factory. You can bend it back for a better seal and it works perfectly. Another TH-camr mentioned LG sent a brand new filter that wasn’t creased on the seal. It’s the part that presses against the drain plate when you insert it. I’m loving my LG so far.
Unfortunately, my experience has been bad with the combo. Bought the combo 8 months ago and I'm on my 5th technician visit. The major repairs have involved a motherboard replacement due to the machine going dead. Next, the entire heat pump assembly failed. The product is so new the technicians have never seen it or been trained on it. Keep in mind, the 10 year limited warranty only covers the motor. There is only a 1 year warranty on the rest of the parts such as the motherboard and heat pump.
For anyone interested, I solved the Lint Problem on the GE. Hopefully GE will Modify the current filter design flaw. I have been running 2 GE Combo units with 100% success of lint bypassing the filter. Ben the appliance guy showed a video that after several washes, the LG unit had build-up on the condenser like the GE.
I am looking at all videos concerning my decision of GE vs LG all in ones. One of my concerns is my closet will only allow a dept of 37 inches and that may rule out LG. However one idea I have is installing a thermostat controlled fan behind the LG and thus pushing it only 3 inches from the back wall. I wonder if this idea would push any excessive heat out from the back thus permitting this shorter distance in the rear?
As these are "all in one" do these units avoid the mold issue that can occur with front load washing machines? I am just wondering if you still need to keep the door open to dry out after a load?
Steve, Any plans to review the new Electrolux Laundry Tower? Also, I'm curious why the version for the Canadian market lists the washer as 5.2 cu ft whereas America has a 4.5 cu ft washer. Is that just a difference in how they measure? Surely they wouldn't use a tub 0.7 cu ft larger in another market?

That entirely depends on what you mean by "work better". If "working better" means "will reliably turn on and make placating noises when the button is pressed for decades to come" (i.e. the main selling point of laundromat/landlord machines), the SQ is better. If, however, "working better" means significantly better cleaning performance, fitting considerably more clothes and bulkier items, and spinning nearly twice as fast while also using about 50-70% less electricity on the drying (not counting the drying time saved from the faster spin!) resulting in costing a fraction as much to run while leaving less detergent residue in clothing, then either of these modern high-performance LG or GE front load units will wash circles around a SQ. Watch some of the lab tests of SQ cleaning performance.... it's pretty poor. I mean, they **sorta** wash, but like... by the standards of a laundromat owner or landlord. lol
People over stuff it. I do very large loads but don’t pack things in the way I’ve seen on videos. No issues drying. My old expensive separate dryer had issues drying things fully sometimes (had to flip things like quilts as they were wet on the inside), the GE drys everything perfectly including queen quilts and dog beds the first time without an extra cycle and more work from me.

I disliked at 5:05 for not including the fact that the warranties on both machines only includes parts after the first year. So, if you avail yourself of the years 2-10 of warranty, you're still spending what? $300 on a service call?
I have a couple of issues with how you keep comparing these units. You like to point out that the ge dries fast in your testing but fail to mention the lg uses quite a bit less power even with taking longer. You also keep saying lg doesnt have its own repair service when they do you can say you dont like it but dont give false information.
My review was on performance. I neglected energy efficiency. My bad. As far as service, I just had an exchange with one of their techs. Evidentally, they have a "Boston Guy". Thats great. We have 35 techs and just service what we sell because we can only handle our customers. Their Boston guy has to handle Home Depot, Lowes, Costco, and Best Buy along with 100 appliance dealers and internet guys (along with their damage rates) Is that service?...Get more Boston guys, and I will gladly retract the statement. PS: I think at least they are trying
OK...I wasn't talking about power. Both are energy saving heat pumps combined with the more efficient front load...and I never said I didn't like it. About service, I just talked to a LG service tech. He was pointing out they do have a Boston guy.....Really? A Boston Guy? We have 37 techs just in the Boston area and are 1 week out for service..and we service only what we sell. Their Boston Guy will have to fix Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy, and about 30 independents in this area. Is that service?
@@YaleAppliance1 ok... Having 1 tech in YOUR area is not the same as not having a service department especially when you are doing a review on a platform that is nation wide. My first unit was defective and they had a tech out within a week to confirm if it needed replacing or could be repaired easily.
How can you state you base things on longevity when you only provide reliability statistics based on the first year? In another video someone stated LG has better reliability then Speed Queen. That’s a ridiculous statement for anyone who has had experience with both brands.
Not ridiculous to a company that logged over 37,000 service calls last year and 100,000 over 2.75...I like SQ, but LG is more reliable when looking at the totality.

Pete.....We service what we sell. I dont care if the name of the appliance is Pete. The misinformation out there bothers me when the stats don't line up. Companies will say 20 year life. I say show me the documentation. I dont have an axe to grind with SQ, but the stats don't line up with the promise. Here is another problem. Independent servicers do not want to fix a product with a seven year warranty because the reimbursement rates are so low. Buy what you are comfortable. If you have good luck, fantastic.

You’ll be lucky to get 5-7 years out of an LG where the Speed Queen at least has a chance to make it 20 years. I have to axe to grind with LG and don’t own a Speed Queen. I just know there has been no class action lawsuits against Speed Queen and I’ve noticed a lot of talking up LG on this channel in general. Starts to make you wonder why.
Makes you wonder what? I do not take a dime from any manufacturers. Dont make any money from affiliate linking like others who get a commission to gush about everything. Yes I like LG...for now. Until they have issues, then I will call it out. But I won't lie about it either. We will complete 100,000 service calls in less than three years. After all this work you see patterns. Service is a losing business...thats why nobody does it. Even fewer service under warranty. About first year service, most appliances will fail either in the beginning or at the end. Plus we service the first year free, so most people choose us. I have my suspicions about reliability after year 1, but are unsure how of the repair rate as a percentage. You think SQ is better? Fine. Show me the percentages and math. I wish it was, because we make more money on a more expensive set.
I THINK IT'S PATHETIC TO HAVE A COMBO THAT TAKES TWO AND A HALF HOURS TO WASH AND DRY and it does half the amount of clothes you can with a two-tier system. It's a gimmick at this point and if you watch one of these tech guys videos he washes clothes in his GE for quite a while and the lint thing constantly messes up at Authentech
I would never buy another LG appliance, especially a washer. I bought an extended warranty for my LG washer. Right after that warranty expired (5 years) , I had a $1300 repair bill. I needed a brand new transmission and motherboard. If these combo units have proven themselves, it will be a GE. If they aren't a good fit, it will be a Speed Queen.
You’re just unlucky…LG usually makes a the most reliable domestic washer. On the other hand though 1300 is an insane bill, you had to have been ripped off for that
Yeah I'm going to stick with my separate washer and dryer if me and my daughter I just got the whirlpool like a month ago removable agitator and I got a really nice GE dryer which is shocking cuz I am not a GE fan I don't even like GE light bulbs unless you really lazy and I mean extremely lazy I don't see the point of having it all in one it's just too much maintenance it's just too much of the unknown if you're that lazy you can take less than a minute to take your washer to the dryer I don't know what to tell you
There is one problem when I look at the app or GE and LG or the water and dryer and their appliances. GE does not work really good with screen reader for the blind and division impaired LG Qi does work with screen readers but also LG is more assessable GE app is failing people with disability, and she used to be the best ADA product on the market right now. It kind of fail, dropping the ball on it as well it’s just on the app which is failing.

I have 2 toddlers so tons of laundry and it saves us a ton of time with not having to swap the load and can set it before going out or at night.

I just did what I would consider a full load of towels (75% of the drum) and it completed in 2.5 hrs. haven't had any balance issues besides once with a cal king comforter but that's fairly normal

I'm 72 years old and it's perfect for me .
GE has pretty genrously space fins in the coil unit which in the long run are going to make cleaning/build up much easier to fix. The LG fins are basically a stacked microfin array which is going to get plugged eventually and be impossible to clean without damaging the fins.

Great video. For the LG with their longstanding issues with compressors I would have to wait before thinking about buying one. But owning a conventional LG front loader I have been happy with my machine. However, even with my LG I've had clearance issues, because I had to remove the folding doors to my laundry closet to accommodate the greater depth that the LG had over my old Maytag. That is a reason why I might consider an all-in one heat pump, if it is more compact in depth, so I can put those darn doors back on.
i have a 2018 LG Combo Washer that still works perfectly.
I would be more concered with which one performs better over time, not at time of testing when new. I recently replaced my washer and dryer and did not want to take the risk on combination units like these when the reputation in the past has not been good for this type of machine.
Could the 4” of clearance in the back of the LG be because it’s assuming the hoses that don’t have the “elbows”?

What's so much better about the GE in-house service department. If you don't buy from a dealer that provides service, LG has a a network of independent service technicians. May not be in-house, but warranty repairs are still taken care of.

About 50 loads in the LG so far. It’s been better than I had expected and with the price difference I’m happy so far.
I had both and used both for over 3 weeks. They are fantastic units. I stuck with the LG for AI wash, app function, appearance, reliability of other units, experience with heat pumps, and the lint filter. The lint filter on the GE let to much through as after just 2 weeks of use I could see build up. With no easy way to clean it off compared to the auto rinsing of the LG. To me seemed like the better way to go because of how important that component is to this wash/dryer. Also my GE unit door arrived scratched and they shipped a broken door to me along with other issues making their service to me very sketchy. I did find that the dryer does take a bit longer in the LG. I believe it might be because of the smaller heat pump being used. The few minutes I observed was not a big deal as I do loads during the day while away or at night. An added bonus is the pedestal of the LG is a bit higher which can be a small washer or a laundry basket in the pedestal which I find extremely convenient. Hope this helps someone.
So far so good with the ge after 100+ loads. But keep the filter clean and check on coils to make sure no buildup of lint.
If you do a deep dive thru the manuals, LG also says you should have 12.5” clearance above the top of the washer..
(In addition to the extra 4” in the back). Lg’s installed depth dimension with door open may also impact where a custom can install…
Question for you tho, can you tell us what the wash times v. Dry times between the two brands were? (Rather than combined)
It might help me decide which has the better dryer function. Is LG’s largely based on higher heat? Or is GE lower heat, but bigger fan assisted air flow?
Generally I like LG appliances & their washers, but agree GE’s customer service & warranty on this combo is far superior in this case.
This is a solid point! Dry times could reflect the difference in heat pump design. I know they said LG's is rated higher wattage, but GE in general seems more thoughtfully designed. I wonder what their engineers have to say about customers hacking their filter with tape to block lint buildup.

How do these 2 units compare vs the LG WashTower with heat pump dryer in terms of performance, features, and energy usage?
Steve always points out how these combo units can’t wash and dry 2 loads at once like traditional separate w/d, so it stands to reason the WashTower heat pump may be the best of both worlds. But what’s the situation with that dryer’s lint filter and coils? Doesn’t it just have the same standard lint filter as all WashTowers? Why does the heat pump WashTower need a 240V/30A electric outlet for its dryer-in addition to a standard 120V outlet for its washer-if it has a heat pump dryer that uses so much less electricity???

As I said previously in comments of other videos. The GE is my pick due to the more powerful blower, higher BTU heat pump, better warranty, and possibly better filter (with some room for improvement). Before the Yale test came out I could tell GE would probably dry better overall, but I know LG with their famous quicker wash cycles is probably a good reason it got through the colors quicker.
I would like to know if this is correct, but my guess would be the wash cycle was shorter for the LG color test, and the spin cycle did most of the drying. With the GE the wash cycle usually lasts about 50 minutes depending on how big of a load, and what you select for how dirty the load is. I think the GE pulled away in the other three tests since large article loads rely heavily on the drying ability of the washer over since they can retain a lot of that moisture after the spin cycle.
I'd love to hear other opinions or thoughts on this. Only time will tell however, but I'm certain those who clean the machine by the book or better will have a long lasting machine. Especially if they make sure to deep clean the coils if they ever notice any buildup and a quick brush or vacuum after so many loads. The GE has a small slit you can access the coils with before disassembling the top. The LG filter seems easy enough, but there is some minor disassembly required before you can see the coils.
A quick disclaimer: I've owned a GE Ultrafast Combo since launch, and recently had a warranty replacement done by best buy so I actually had the option to switch over to LG, but after a quick consideration I felt for the reasons I mentioned above would be why I chose to just have Best Buy send us another GE. Keep in mind the unit needed replacement because the geek squad installers messed up in addition to other factors unrelated to GE's design.
Which one dries better?
I looked at both the LG and the GE, eventually settling on the GE. The LG looks better and has a smaller footprint but the LG does not dry as fast the heat pump system in the LG is half the size of the GE and with all the problems with LG refrigerators that took me away from them. The GE works amazingly well the cycles mean very little to me as our family hardly uses more than 2 of them anyhow.

- does LG really have “self cleaning coils” as their marketing video says and shows in an animation, and if so, how does thar actually work and does that mitigate any concern about lint build up on its coils vs GE?
- why would LG need so much depth if it’s 4-6” shallower physically than 40” and if it has no vent?
- which LG SideKick pedestal washer is compatible with WashCombo and what do you think about that application?
- how much electricity do the LG and GE use, both in terms of max kW draw at any one moment during their cycles and total kWh consumed to wash and dry comparable loads?
- how do they compare to each other on noise?
Self cleaning coils.....Bosch has them in their compact washer. It pumps the lint through the wash. In the words of our tech, it pumps the lint through the hoses. We will see
I agree on the depth issue 4 inches behind the LG unit that doesn’t have a vent makes no sense. I service high end commercial kitchen equipment and self cleaning coils are a fantasy, the best thing is good filtration.
My LG is using around 0.9-1.1 kWh for a full wash and dry. The coils are staying extremely clean and the lint filter works so well on the LG. One thing to check is the seal on the Lg lint trap might be creased over from the factory. You can bend it back for a better seal and it works perfectly. Another TH-camr mentioned LG sent a brand new filter that wasn’t creased on the seal. It’s the part that presses against the drain plate when you insert it. I’m loving my LG so far.
The most important question the don't answer is, how well they dry?

Unfortunately, my experience has been bad with the combo. Bought the combo 8 months ago and I'm on my 5th technician visit. The major repairs have involved a motherboard replacement due to the machine going dead. Next, the entire heat pump assembly failed. The product is so new the technicians have never seen it or been trained on it. Keep in mind, the 10 year limited warranty only covers the motor. There is only a 1 year warranty on the rest of the parts such as the motherboard and heat pump.
The heat pump is a 5 year warranty on the GE, not 1.
For anyone interested, I solved the Lint Problem on the GE.
Hopefully GE will Modify the current filter design flaw. I have been running 2 GE Combo units with 100% success of lint bypassing the filter.
Ben the appliance guy showed a video that after several washes, the LG unit had build-up on the condenser like the GE.

I am looking at all videos concerning my decision of GE vs LG all in ones. One of my concerns is my closet will only allow a dept of 37 inches and that may rule out LG. However one idea I have is installing a thermostat controlled fan behind the LG and thus pushing it only 3 inches from the back wall. I wonder if this idea would push any excessive heat out from the back thus permitting this shorter distance in the rear?

As these are "all in one" do these units avoid the mold issue that can occur with front load washing machines? I am just wondering if you still need to keep the door open to dry out after a load?

Also, I'm curious why the version for the Canadian market lists the washer as 5.2 cu ft whereas America has a 4.5 cu ft washer. Is that just a difference in how they measure? Surely they wouldn't use a tub 0.7 cu ft larger in another market?

That entirely depends on what you mean by "work better". If "working better" means "will reliably turn on and make placating noises when the button is pressed for decades to come" (i.e. the main selling point of laundromat/landlord machines), the SQ is better.
If, however, "working better" means significantly better cleaning performance, fitting considerably more clothes and bulkier items, and spinning nearly twice as fast while also using about 50-70% less electricity on the drying (not counting the drying time saved from the faster spin!) resulting in costing a fraction as much to run while leaving less detergent residue in clothing, then either of these modern high-performance LG or GE front load units will wash circles around a SQ.
Watch some of the lab tests of SQ cleaning performance.... it's pretty poor. I mean, they **sorta** wash, but like... by the standards of a laundromat owner or landlord. lol
I keep seeing videos where a large number of people dislike the GE because it doesn't dry enough.

People over stuff it. I do very large loads but don’t pack things in the way I’ve seen on videos. No issues drying. My old expensive separate dryer had issues drying things fully sometimes (had to flip things like quilts as they were wet on the inside), the GE drys everything perfectly including queen quilts and dog beds the first time without an extra cycle and more work from me.
Do either have steam for de-wrinkling?
I think I saw steam on lg. ge does spray a bit of water during a dry cycle.

More than that.....depends on the tech and company. Probably $500-1200. They arent making money on the part, so you will be socked with a labor bill

I have a couple of issues with how you keep comparing these units. You like to point out that the ge dries fast in your testing but fail to mention the lg uses quite a bit less power even with taking longer. You also keep saying lg doesnt have its own repair service when they do you can say you dont like it but dont give false information.
My review was on performance. I neglected energy efficiency. My bad. As far as service, I just had an exchange with one of their techs.
Evidentally, they have a "Boston Guy". Thats great.
We have 35 techs and just service what we sell because we can only handle our customers.
Their Boston guy has to handle Home Depot, Lowes, Costco, and Best Buy along with 100 appliance dealers and internet guys (along with their damage rates)

Their Boston Guy will have to fix Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy, and about 30 independents in this area.

@@YaleAppliance1 ok... Having 1 tech in YOUR area is not the same as not having a service department especially when you are doing a review on a platform that is nation wide. My first unit was defective and they had a tech out within a week to confirm if it needed replacing or could be repaired easily.
How can you state you base things on longevity when you only provide reliability statistics based on the first year? In another video someone stated LG has better reliability then Speed Queen. That’s a ridiculous statement for anyone who has had experience with both brands.
Not ridiculous to a company that logged over 37,000 service calls last year and 100,000 over 2.75...I like SQ, but LG is more reliable when looking at the totality.

Here is another problem. Independent servicers do not want to fix a product with a seven year warranty because the reimbursement rates are so low.

You’ll be lucky to get 5-7 years out of an LG where the Speed Queen at least has a chance to make it 20 years. I have to axe to grind with LG and don’t own a Speed Queen. I just know there has been no class action lawsuits against Speed Queen and I’ve noticed a lot of talking up LG on this channel in general. Starts to make you wonder why.

Service is a losing business...thats why nobody does it. Even fewer service under warranty.
About first year service, most appliances will fail either in the beginning or at the end. Plus we service the first year free, so most people choose us.
I have my suspicions about reliability after year 1, but are unsure how of the repair rate as a percentage.
You think SQ is better? Fine. Show me the percentages and math. I wish it was, because we make more money on a more expensive set.

I THINK IT'S PATHETIC TO HAVE A COMBO THAT TAKES TWO AND A HALF HOURS TO WASH AND DRY and it does half the amount of clothes you can with a two-tier system. It's a gimmick at this point and if you watch one of these tech guys videos he washes clothes in his GE for quite a while and the lint thing constantly messes up at Authentech

I would never buy another LG appliance, especially a washer. I bought an extended warranty for my LG washer. Right after that warranty expired (5 years) , I had a $1300 repair bill. I needed a brand new transmission and motherboard. If these combo units have proven themselves, it will be a GE. If they aren't a good fit, it will be a Speed Queen.
You’re just unlucky…LG usually makes a the most reliable domestic washer. On the other hand though 1300 is an insane bill, you had to have been ripped off for that
Yeah I'm going to stick with my separate washer and dryer if me and my daughter I just got the whirlpool like a month ago removable agitator and I got a really nice GE dryer which is shocking cuz I am not a GE fan I don't even like GE light bulbs unless you really lazy and I mean extremely lazy I don't see the point of having it all in one it's just too much maintenance it's just too much of the unknown if you're that lazy you can take less than a minute to take your washer to the dryer I don't know what to tell you
There is one problem when I look at the app or GE and LG or the water and dryer and their appliances. GE does not work really good with screen reader for the blind and division impaired LG Qi does work with screen readers but also LG is more assessable GE app is failing people with disability, and she used to be the best ADA product on the market right now. It kind of fail, dropping the ball on it as well it’s just on the app which is failing.
