This song/video brings me to tears every time I watch this. The idea that even after your life seems to burn to the ground, the fog will clear up eventually leaving a bright future. I love hands like houses
I don't know what it is, but there's something about this song that makes it quite emotional. It has kind of a "tragic" sound to it, in addition to the burning house. To me, anyway. I like it a lot.
Easily one of my favourite HLH songs of all time, sad to see how much they've changed their sound in recent years. This record and Ground Dweller are absolute masterpieces.
@@Divine_Mode Try Dissonants, and their singles Drift and Hurricane I’d also recommend Shimmer but I have a feeling you might not like it, since it’s not very heavy
@@sendAJtospace thanks for the recommend, I’ve listened to dissonanta and was only really into one song. I’ll have to check out the others but I mostly listen to electronic music these days lol. Though I’ve been getting back into rock & metal again a bit lately.
My favorite thing about Hands Like Houses is their ability to use such grandiose language and proliferate it alongside a poetic format, while still keeping layers and layers of music cluttered inside. It's so rare these days to see lyrics that are planned out and hold altruistic meaning, I love it!

That my friend is the passion of art. To create an absolute beauty, but to always be willing to watch it disappear just as all good things do. Art is a flutter of light and color that fades to dark over time.
that's the beauty of music. the musician/s may not tell the meaning of it so you have to figure it out for yourself. the mystery of it makes the song so much better :3
I learned to play this song on drums ten years ago. Quit playing for five, didn't play this song for the next five. @@thepunisher7384 while yes, you did miss the point of littlemetaldevil's comment, which was to combine two of their song titles together, "The House you Built" and "A Fire on a Hill"
wait...Hands Like HOUSES. it's a painting of a house. it's on a hill, the song is called A Fire On A Hill. House on a hill and Fire on a hill, so maybe House=Fire and it's almost like Hands Like Fire. in this video, the painting of the house gets destroyed with "fire". maybe it represents the "hands" that were destroyed by fire because after all, they're like houses and maybe this represents his creativity, what he does with his hands, being destroyed.
