    I always found it amazing what carpets do to peoples sense of comfort, especially like in planes and on ships. Oh, look we stand on this fine fluffy woven floor how can ever anything happen to us ... . You glue one to a 917 and they go down Mulsanne straight like on their couch. Thanks.

    I've just been test fitting my Coverdale kit and started to get the fear. Then I watched this for the 3rd or 4th time and I'm feeling more confident again. It's invaluable to have all the parts laid out for reference. Thanks so much for doing this Tommy. Mine had largely disintergrated when I removed them, and even though I took loads of pictures I started to feel a bit lost. Top man.

    You made it look so easy to do those carpets! Took me days of faffing around to do that job. Great work 👍

    Good to see you have decided to relocate the battery. If you can run to it put in an Odyssey 925 AGM battery. Expensive but smaller, lighter and will withstand deep discharge better than standard batteries. Make sure you use larger diameter cable too. You'll be amazed how much difference it makes to starting. Also if you can get the terminals crimped using a hydraulic crimping tool it gives a better joint. You will also free us space in the footwell but you may need to fit a foot rest for your passengers to brace on or they feel like they are rolling around.
    You will also find the ECU and fly leads for the fuel pump relays hanging loose. I managed to manoeuvre mine above the flap in the dash over the passenger's knees. Safer up there and won't get wet in the footwell if you have a leak.
    Battery should go in middle of boot above tank. Tried it elsewhere and it doesn't really work well. I routed the cables through the drivers footwell, well below the pedals in some trunking, up the outer sill and up behind the access flap behind the door and through into the boot over the wheel arch. Hope that's helpful.

    Moved my battery recently, decided on the odyssey pc925 above the fuel tank which I did have to think long and hard about as I didn’t like the idea really.
    I then dropped the fusebox down into the space left for easier access.
    Used a 50 mm cable from new battery location to the starter motor, old battery cable left in place to power fusebox.
    I grounded the chassis at the back with the same size cable, probably should have ran the ground to the front too but it seems happy as it is.

      @@ToolsnTrack yes it has been said it's too small amp hour wise but its been ok for me, starts the car as well as the large lead acid banner it replaced.

    Can't wait for this one, my carpets have faded and last year I booked it in with a local trim man who I got recommended by guys in the Pistonhead forums, I booked it in a month in advance, he saw the car up front and quoted me 850 quid, I dropped the car off and he said he would need it for a week. On the day I went to pick it up, he rang me to say he'd just tried to order the carpet and his swatches were out of date !! Complete f#cking time waster 😤

      Yeah, I have had way to many experiences like that in my youth, which is why you see me doing these works now!

    • @Mister_Pinx
      @Mister_Pinx 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah me too, normally I do as much as I can myself, but I've been told this is a bitch to do, apparently the roof and dash have to come out. So it'll be interesting to see how you get on, are you using one of Central TVRs kits ?

    • @larrybeale1710
      @larrybeale1710 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mister_Pinx I know this is a very very old comment, but the Dash stays in. Roof does need to come off and is a bit of a tit of a job.

    How long would you say this realistically takes? I'm tempted to swap the carpets out on my 98 Chimaera which have faded somewhat

    • @ToolsnTrack
      @ToolsnTrack  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A couple of days if you really go at it. Taking your time and letting sections dry on the refit helps a lot though, so don't rush!

    • @jamesparker754
      @jamesparker754 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ToolsnTrack that's not too bad! It seems relatively simple just annoying in terms of having to lift the car to get the seats out and the roof section you had to leave in place. Annoyingly my cars previous owner did a half carpet swap so all that rear shelf section is immaculate but the centre tunnel and footwell are in a right state! Would you recommend the place you got your carpet from?

    • @ToolsnTrack
      @ToolsnTrack  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, Central are pricy but to be honest you don't have many other options. Quality is on point.
