Amazing!!! I'm a 73 year old great grandmother. I followed your directions and voila!, It worked. You are wonderful and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!
My dad was an electrical engineer. You are really thorough! I got my TV from my aunt. I’m 54 soooo everyone including the TV is old now. I’m still getting black screen of death. Not a financial problem at $100 replacement so new side bedroom TV will be purchased. Thanks so much for your in depth info!
Thanks. I was looking for this subject a couple weeks, but no situation videos showed up. Now, months later, your video just popped into my feed. I just subscribed. I have just been unplugging and plugging it back in, since I have a 32" set.
Thank you so much! My 8 year old TV was working fine last night, today----nothing! Your very first suggestion worked like magic. Saved dumb me from running out to buy a new TV, I'm very grateful! 😄
Your video is awesome and fixed my TV. The screen was lighting up, but no icons; it stayed black(ish) but the panel was 'gray'. I for the heck of it turned the volume up and down on the remote and it showed feedback on the screen... but then started working. Thanks for your help! Cheers- mike
I had tried everything on my Vizio TV before I found this video after I unplugged it and hold onto the power button for 15 seconds and then let the power button go and wait an extra 30 seconds before I plugged it back into the wall it immediately lit back up thank you so much You helped me from having to buy a new TV because I thought the TVs went out.
Thank you so much!!! agree with everything everyone says about your great advice. We had new Verizon set ups done yesterday, upgraded the service w/ new boxes, etc and I think there was just a lot of activity that could have caused this power build up or whatever it was you said! Incredibubble.
Just tried it and it seems to have worked like a charm! I have a Vizio smart tv and it would turn on but not load the home page. First time in months I’ve been able to actually use my tv. Thanks!
THANK YOU!!! This is the 4th isssue I’ve had with my Vizio. I’ve only had it 2 months. I am returning it this week. DO NOT BUY A VIZIO. And if you still can, just return it and get something else.
Mine is doing the samething but using flash lite I can see faint picture that being said there saying power supply . Cause t con is good so is motherboard . Did you fix yours ?
Thanks, it worked . . . sort of. I have to push the ON/OFF button, on the TV, several times before it 'takes'. The small white light bar ( on the front of the TV) in the chrome trim, will come on for a second, then when I let go of the button it goes off and 'dies'. I have to press and hold it several time to get it to turn on. Plan to do more of the tests you recommend once it gets dark.
My Vizio TV has Control Board problem. In particular, the two ICs under the heat sink have soldering problem. So far, using heat gun at the devices for 2-4 minutes seem to melt the bad solder joints and heal the problem. This process requires removing the back cover of the TV
Excellent review, thank you very much for doing this! Question with my Vizio that is a black screen without image. I am wondering if the fact that the Power On LED light (on the front panel) does not come on is a factor in making the correct diagnosis? Otherwise, at this point in my diagnostic attempts, I am suspecting the T-con board. Appreciate any help and keep up the good work!
I had the flashing til out power light issue. My powerboard is integrated in the motherboard. I replaced the motherboard and still have the no pic fading power light problem. Could it be I purchased another bad motherboard?
The first option unplugging TV for 45 seconds and then pressing the power button does work, but only 1 time. I have to redo every time that I want to watch the TV. Any thoughts
I discovered the power plug that plugs into the back of the TV wasn't a tight fit when it was plugged in I took pliers and squeezed the connections in the plug and made them smaller causing the plug to fit tighter into the TV it worked for me hopefully it works for others as well
Exactly, as in they downloaded an upgrade which is crap. This is my third Vizio and this fun by far is the f****** worst-ever I want to go to my I have fire stick at can't get on in the local antenna is jacked customer service attempts to help but they f***** up
I was watching my TV and the screen suddenly froze, then half the picture disappeared, and the screen stayed that way for a few seconds. I was able to turn it off and figured it just needed the usual unplug and wait 30 seconds cycle. But none of that worked. Whether I use the remote or power button on TV, the light comes on for about 5 seconds, fades out and then flashes a few times before stopping. Any suggestions for that?
I have the same issue, just replaced the power supply but its still doing the same, sometimes the power light comes on and becomes dimmer until its off, sometimes it blinks for a while then turns off, no image, does this mean its irreparable?
Well that got the tv back on, but now neither the remote or the buttons on the back of the tv work. This vizio has been nothing but trouble since I got and Vizio's only answer is, It's out of warranty
Mine comes on, shows the logo, goes to a semi-black screen. Screen is black but u can tell it is on. Stays this way for about 2 minutes then shows a screen save photo and locks up. I have 2 new remotes and the original remote. Fresh batteries. Still no deal.
How do I get back to my TH-cam channels in subscriptions that should have not been removed I had surgery I can't search cuz it wants me to join gmail which I don't want to and it says enter my gmail address which I don't have one and I don't want one how do I watch my goddamn TH-cam station not the pay stations the free ones without having this issue I'm very pissed it's been 2 days now and I hate this new freaking TV
For ~$25 you can buy a new power board and replace it. It's a simple fix and takes 15-20 min to do. You save $300-600. Seems like a waste to throw out a TV because of one bad board you can easily replace even not being a handyman type.
No such luck here, ran through your steps 4 times and still black screen. Th8s Vizio TV is only 1 & 1/2 years old and doesn't get used too often, I'll never purchase another Vizio television! Thank you for the diag tips, however.

Did the first step twice. Waited for a couple of seconds and the tv now works. Thank you. Saved me from buying another tv.
Same here! I unplugged the tv and held the power button and then plugged it back up and it turned on. I am so glad I did not have to buy another tv!
Thanks. I was looking for this subject a couple weeks, but no situation videos showed up. Now, months later, your video just popped into my feed. I just subscribed. I have just been unplugging and plugging it back in, since I have a 32" set.

I thought my tv had stopped working and all I had to do was hold the power button down for 15 seconds! Nice video!
Glad it worked for you!
You’re a genius!! The power button issue worked perfectly! Thank You!!!
Na, nothing worked . Still a black screen. Nothing
Thank you a million times! It was our surge protector!
Just tried it and it seems to have worked like a charm! I have a Vizio smart tv and it would turn on but not load the home page. First time in months I’ve been able to actually use my tv. Thanks!

I love Vizio. Had mine for 10 years before experiencing this problem.
My power light comes on then logo comes up then it goes down & the power light fades. Any suggestions?

That first step was EXACTLY what i needed!! Thank you!!!
First option worked for me. It’s been flashing the Vizio logo. I called and they reset it and it was still doing it so I went to google. Thank you!!
Oop.. except I went to open Hulu and it started doing it again….. :(
Now it’s working…? I’m never buying a Vizio again….
This tutorial was amazing! Worked perfectly to fix our tv. You saved us!! Thank you!
Great to hear!
Thank you!! Just got out office tv working again thanks to this video. 🙌
GREAT JOB! FOLLOWED YOUR INSTRUCTION & EVERYTHING ON TV FINALLY WORKED TX!

Great advice thank you my tv is now fixed, great video
Would this work when your TV plug is connected to an extension cord? The Entertainment center is way too heavy to move?
That could be the issue
Thank you. The first step worked like a charm.

It WORKED on my 30" Vizio !! Awesome!
Appreciate all the troubleshooting methods! Mine was fixed with plugging into a wall outlet rather than a surge protector
The remote step worked!!! Thank you!

These new TV's are terrible. Old school tech wins again.
Back in the day you just turn the things on for years and we get what we want
Exactly, as in they downloaded an upgrade which is crap. This is my third Vizio and this fun by far is the f****** worst-ever I want to go to my I have fire stick at can't get on in the local antenna is jacked customer service attempts to help but they f***** up

I’ve tried everything! I still have a picture just blinking light on the bottom
Sorry to hear that...likely a power supply board issue. Either will need to replace that board, or buy a new TV.
I have the same issue, just replaced the power supply but its still doing the same, sometimes the power light comes on and becomes dimmer until its off, sometimes it blinks for a while then turns off, no image, does this mean its irreparable?
Great video.
Thank you sir. That first trick worked for me!

This trick used to work, not anymore. Now it requires being unplugged 3-4 hrs to bring up the screen.
Didn’t work.

O
my tv looks like a strobe light.. any idea why?
When I turn my tv on the Vizio sign flashes on then off.
Same and I can't find a solution
Did you figure it out I have the same problem
Worked for me when i held the remote power button 15 sec
That's great!
No such luck here, ran through your steps 4 times and still black screen. Th8s Vizio TV is only 1 & 1/2 years old and doesn't get used too often, I'll never purchase another Vizio television! Thank you for the diag tips, however.
The power light just stopped coming on. You know the Vizio insignia is lit while power is off.
Or you can replace the capacitors in the power board that would probable solve the problem or send your rv to this guy and he will fix it for you .
turns out my tv got unplugged somehow…
Absolutely did nothing for my TV it’s still blinking till this day
👍
