Hi Capt... You're a great teacher; you give simple step-by-step instructions that even I can understand and follow!! ☺It's crazy that that item does not come standard with the engine!!!
hello Andrew and thanks cap, im surprise myself , this part only cost yamaha $15 but is probably due to engine weight and as you know yamaha are the lightest in the market
Little by little one step ata time, better and better, better each time. thank you Cap for sharing another tutorial. Have fun. Love to see you get prep to get out in the water again. Thank you so much.
It's great you installed it, no one likes to see dots instead of data. unfortunately the pitot tube system is not very accurate especially at speeds below 10 knots. for this reason I installed a transom paddle wheel that is connected to my nmea 2k bus. This way I can display both my surface speed and my gps speed on all my equipment. Surface speed is a must have for adjusting trolling speed. Without surface speed one could think he is trolling at 8 knots in gulfstream heading north but actual speed being only 5 knots. The surface speed tells you at what speed your boat is moving in a body of water, fish don't use GPS haha. thanks Capt.
ONLY you can make something so boring, SOOOO interesting. I watched every second like it was game 7 of the World Series. Thanks. I tapped the thumbs up 👍 button to feed the algorithm monsters.
I just repowered with a 150 Suzuki and it was the same thing. All kinds of nice features with the electronics but without speed sensor. Seems like it should be a basic accessory.
@@danc9440 I agree, captain. And see you on the next video.Hopefully , if the weather helps , I will be out there , captainand I'll bring you along 👍😁😉⚓️🛥
I don't understand why Yamaha wouldn't include the part in the new engine kit. I know not all boat buyers don't have the Yamaha information center but a simple Y/N option on the on-line order form would have addressed that. My own Bulls Bay 2000 came with a Yamaha 115 4- stroke (great engine!) but the info center was an expensive option. I'd like to find a reasonably priced plug-in analyzer which displays engine hours to help me manage my maintenance schedule. As for you, another great and helpful video. I, along with your many followers look forward to sharing your next adventure.
@patscally5390 Thank you, captain and yes, you're right. They're very specific in my case.My screen from Yamah is about nine hundred dollars But without it, I cannot do these long trips.Calculating my fuel to the last gallon, And thank you for watching captain And I'll keep you updated on the next trip captain
All ready for a new adventure out on the crooked pilot house. Because if anything‘s gonna happen, it’s gonna happen out there.. stay safe and prop clear 😂😂
I would definitely recommend the water pressure sensor if you run through weeds or trash and it blocks the intake you can see it fast and shut down the engine before the temperature goes up
I agree, but just in case Yamaha like most modern outboards have a temp sensor that will bring down RPMs to almost idle speed if it senses overheating.
Water fed speed sensor are rarely used anymore because modern engines Digital gauge displays are almost always connected to the boat GPS for its speed data which are more reliable and accurate. Maybe I'm missing something?
Hey Cap, you have any opinions on Steigercraft. Thinking about upgrading to a pilothouse. Looked at the new Trophy T25 but the build quality (to me) was a bit average. Cool design just not followed thru with the higher quality. I hear the Steigers are built like battleships. Hard to find one to see.
Capt. I understand why you stayed with the yamaha brand. I have had 4 of them all good motors. But when I decided to repower this time I went with suzuki. Reason ...I wanted a white motor . 200 more for suzuki 2000 more for yamaha plus to more years on the warranty. Also it came with the speed sensor.
@@RickHornsby-ry5gr Good option captain and it looks like jamaha likes to charge a little extra for things but they do have a good quality so as Sizuki
no is not that important , some people tell me is a special oil to keep the engine in stoking , they only ran the engine 20 minutes that is what the engine computer recorded .
Be nice if your navigation unit could calculate fuel needed to reach a destination, using current, wind, wave conditions at the present speed.. You then could pick the most economical or quickest speed.
My lowarance can be configured by setting up the variables, tank volume, GPH of motor gps speedo with SOW and SOG. It will do the math to give the range. Pretty accurate.
It does. My older F225 and F150s showed mpg on the Yamaha gauges without the Yamaha water tube speed sensor, and that was with the NMEA0183. With NMEA2000 it’s even simpler.

@micuraPR yes NEMA is possible but if you have a yamaha screen you need to connect the pressure sensor
Why do you need a speed sensor if your gauges tell you your speed already? I’m curious now? What am I missing on my outboard?
the Yamaha LDc screen tells you the current MPG and thats how i have enough fuel to make it back home
