Thank you for the 2nd place for Ireland, I thought it was our most professionally presented song since 2011. Was so happy to see us finally make it to the final, 5 years would have been embarrassing for my country. I hope so much that we send another popular song and maybe make the top 10 next year.

Hi, just to put my opinion out there, since I understand French and the language, the song has a very deep meaning, and so many people say it is overrated, but I don't ! I love the fact they are dressed very simply in black and the song was good for me! I really liked the British entry, but it was such a shame it was ruined, but she still carried on stronger than ever!
I speak Italian and the Italian song also has a deep meaning...
However... I'm not judging on message... the french song could have had a deep message and a powerfull song right???

First of all: congratulations on your marvellous show and production from Lisbon. Yes I have seen lots of videos after the show from Eurovision. TV, and I am really impressed. I love the post cards, the stage with the two bridges, and the hosts were great. I am really happy that Portugal was finally given the oportunaty to host the final after being trying for half a century. What we saw here on TV was a colourful show with almost no LEDS, and believe me it worked so well.... So how are things now after Eurovision? Is the PED stronger after being a hosting country compared to not being it? I am Norwegian, and we have hosted the contest 3 times, and I will definately say so....
My top 3 this year after the show are Lithuania, Germany and Ireland. Before the show Germany was no. 2 and Lithuania 3rd, Ireland??? I don't remember where I put it, but the whole staging lifted it up so much. Albania was my winner before the show, but now it's 4th. I don't like it less, it's the other songs that have grown on me.
Yes, poor Ari. And lucky you who sat next to him in the final. Yes, he would have deserved much more. He is my 10th this year.
Norway: 43! Lol ok! Yes I respect your opinion, but I myself would say there were worse songs. No final from me either as it ended 30th. There were better songs in the NF too, just to mention that.

Random eurovision stuff No reason to be sorry, it's all about musical taste, and in fact I agree with you in that matter. In the Norwegian final, Rebecca was my favourite. Her song was called «Who we are». She would had been ranked higher by many people out there. When Alexander ended 15th, it wouldn't surprise me if she ended top 10.... Now she is in the OGAE Seccond chance contest on internet. It's gonna be exciting to see how she will do there. About my ranking when it comes to Norway on 30th, it's just that I like 13 countries less, but my 30th-35th or something is more or less the same ranking..... but again it's all about musical taste.

I didn't like Azerbaijan when I first listened to it, but the performance on stage was powerful and I think it's a wonderful opening of the festival.
I absolutely loved Serbia and Georgia. I agree with you. In fact, they even deserve hire. Georgia had a magical song and Serbia was filled with emotion. I thought Denmark's would be better if it was acapella

There is an a capella mix of "Higher Ground" on TH-cam; also there are a few brief clips with Rasmussen and his backup guys singing the chorus a capella (one has them singing it in German).

I don't know why but something captivates me in Ari's song so much. a lot. performance was also breathtaking. I keep coming back to this and Georgia's song regularly. for me it's not cliche, it's sweet and lovely song.

just like you, i love hearing ESC songs for the first time right during the contest, and - many a time - being surprised by quality of any song. that's why i rather don't listen to ESC songs before the contest. I check only few of them out of curiosity, bun not a lot. this year I checked unusually many songs before the contest ^^ ten songs. ^^ usually there's about three - four, maybe five songs. :D but in 2019 i'm going to listen to at most four - five songs before the contest. because i really love to know ESC songs right at the contest :D
this year I had a lot of favourites songs, it was so strong year. songs, I really loved, more or less: Iceland, Georgia, Romania, Montenegro, Ireland, Austria, Albania, Armenia, Lithuania, Czechia, Denmark, Serbia, The Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Germany, UK, Spain, Switzerland, FYRoM... :)
I also really really liked Ukraine (but not at first), Cyprus, Estonia, Moldova... Bulgaria, France, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Australia, Azerbaijan, Latvia, Russia, SM, Greece, Croatia, were also quite good, though not my favourites :D
Hungary were okay but the second part of the song were to hard and screamy for me, it's not my cup of tea. Belarus was okay but nothing special. nice performance and staging. Portugal was nice, although really calm. Israel, Finland, Slovenia, nothing special although nice, radio - friendly songs. but they were too succesful and overrated this year. their entries were placed too high. i didn't like Malta somehow...
My winner is Denmark too, my runner up is Italy and 3rd Albania.
Iceland is my favorite of 2018.
I'm still sad that Ireland was placed so low... They deserved much more, people!!!!!!

+Random Eurovision stuff: That is really cool what you told us about Ari. I've heard that he's a really nice guy--I've heard that about Rasmussen and Mikolas Josef (sp?) as well. So how many of the artists did you get to meet? They all seem like a really fun bunch of people, from seeing the interviews and behind-the-scenes clips. It has been fun watching them (even though I got into it rather late--I should probably start watching the videos next year when they are released).
Did you get to see any of the rehearsals? I saw one of the videos yesterday (well, actually I was working, so I just listened to it) where a couple of guys were watching the rehearsals and commenting on them, and everyone went wild when one of the San Marino robots held up the "Justice for Valentina" sign!

As for rehearsals... that would be to expensive ... out of schedule and pointless to be honest...

About Ukraine. Even if the piano was an actual one he wouldn’t play cause it’s not allowed. It’s in the Eurovision rules that there not live instruments on stage. Same with Alexander Rybak.
Christina Bimpo I know that... but he could avoid playing it... the piano clearly had no strings if he was inside of it earlier... it felt kinda lame the fact that he was pretending to play when we knew he wasn't ... some people might be fooled with other acts ... but this one isn't fooling anyone...

Yes none of them are playing live ... but Ukraine establishes from the get go that that piano is a stage prop... so pretending in the end that he is playing in a piano that he already made clear that had no strings is what triggers me... but like I said... I an't gonna talk about it... thanks for the opinion
Random eurovision stuff No, but it was not what I answered to either, it was the rules that they weren't allowed to play live anymore, that your replier mentioned. Alexander Rybak always plays live, despite the playback. He did that also in 2009. He wasn't pretending to play the instrument. He really DID PLAY his violin. That was what I replied to!

Actually I uploaded this video four times and those songs were giving me problems... I thought doing that would fix it but what needed to do was to shorten them
Mucu sausage party on the high ranks, much women's power on the lower ones. But that's nothing new to me, since I've skipped through many ESC rankings lately and often the results weren't much different regarding the male to female ratio. But while I like the entries of Denmark and Ireland, I think that Belarus was one of the worst entries this year, besides Montenegro, Russia, Macedonia and Poland. And Iceland isn't ranking high on my list either. But everyone's entitled to their own opinions.
That is circumstancial... My 2019 top as well as my 2017 top ranks many female singer in higher places... I'm not anti feminist

Umm, I don't know what to say here. There were lots of blah songs in this edition in my opinion. The songs I hated were from Hungary and the winning song Toy by Netta. I liked the Belarusian song as well though. Too bad he didn't qualify, and I was upset actually that almost no former Soviet Republics except for Moldova, Estonia, Lithuania and Ukraine qualified. The biggest upset was of course that Juliya Samoylova from Russia didn't qualify making Russia for the first time a non-qualifier. Italy's song I also didn't like.

Apart Outlaw in 'Em being low - I don't think there were many songs doing anything new I so far most approve of this list. I also really like the Czech Republic. I'm sorry but I get why Australia got a televote in single figures neither Jessica or the song are that great and had a Balkan or Eastern European state submitted this it wouldn't have qualified. Belarus - I can see what you mean I don't think the song is that amazing though but I like the staging. Ireland qualified that's a result for them these days but idk about position it's not an earth shattering or adventurous song in a year where some songs were but it's lovely and executed to perfection and yeah I'm always going to there for anything that normalises gay romance so I can appreciate why you think it was underated. Denmark is great - my fav is the winner but yeah I would have had no problem with this as a winner. I bet it was awesome live.
