This is acted TO PERFECTION. I have seen this with just about everybody, and these 2 top them all for telling the story authentically both with dance and demeanor. Perfection!

Seeing this makes me miss Nureyev (and Fracci too). Nureyev had a special humanity and artistry that Baryshnikov never really had for me. Baryshnikov was magnificent but cold and mechanical, just doing a bunch of steps. I like Nureyev better.
These are my favourite romatic dancers together in my favourite romatic ballet. But it doesn't get to work as incredibily as one would think. Maybe it's because Nureyev steals WAY to much stage presence wherever he steps on, wich doesn't complements all that well with the needed protagonism of Giselle (from wich Fracci offers, as always, the BEST interpretation ever, IMO). He also lacks of the sobber nobilty I think Albrecht should portray. So, in short: Fracci&Bruhn is still the best Giselle.
Nureyev was much more artistic than Baryshnikov, but had gaps in his ballet training as he had spent only 3 years instead of 8 in Vaganova Academy. Baryshnikov had much better technique. Were they the best in their country before they fled? No. There were much more impressive dancers like Yuri Soloviev, Vladimir Vasiliev, Mikhail Lavrovsky. Carla Fracci was one of the best in this role in her prime time.
