z-traps the best lol they were the first to powder coat and have the extra swivels, plus its a push-pull and has the most stable stake. and back in the day they done all this and were cheaper than everybody else. and they are easier to turn into a super hair trigger because you can put just the very corner of the dog on the trigger instead of the whole edge of a pull type. and according to you they even save on cat food lol if you want to waste a whole trap worth though fill it half full and sprinkle the other half across the road heading toward the trap lol
Best and through explanation on the type of, and use, of dog proof traps on the internet. I have both the E-Z push-pull and pull only Duke's, and my results are just about 50-50. I also use dollar store cat food with some bacon grease-just a covering, not soaked. Cat food goes in first and covers the trigger. A small gap and then a marshmallow at the top. A little bacon grease or lure on the marshmallow. They can't resist the marshmallow and once they get through it; they are so food driven, they immediately start on the cat food and within a minute or two, they're caught. Works darn near every time. Thanks for the excellent video!
Well so far I have only used duke DPs. I really like them. I only fill it to the top of the trigger with cat food and put a marshmallow below the trigger and I have good results.
I may use some mini marshmallows too next year. I found a super easy recipe for coon bait and smoked em on it this year. Jelly. Melt strawberry jelly and mix in the cat food.
Been loving the Duke traps, hardly any maintenance, large marshmallow on the trigger, a little cat food, plug with another marshmallow. Coon every time
I love to try different traps and sometimes or most times the more expensive ones are my least favorite. I end up selling the ones I don't want. I don't run just DPs unless I am around a lot of places people take there pets. I should mention I do quite a bit of nuisance trapping.
While I've never heard of it, I strongly suspect these traps are not cat (domestic) proof. The similarity in their paws is obvious. I also suspect a trapper who catches one wouldn't announce the fact, and involve the animal rights groups?
With the amount of feral cats we have in the farmland in Ohio it happens BUT these traps are very humane and ethical so all incidental catches can be released unharmed. They are less likely to be caught in a pull only style trap also.
just picked you up in half paced outdoors live . check out a dp from pcs outdoors called the featherlite , it is a cast aluminum body and stainless hardware . they are a pull only but bullet proof ,the springs are a lot stronger than the z traps and duke dp's i was using .
Personal preference really. Some say it attracts them more but I don't think it makes much difference. It definitely makes them easier to see from a distance though when you're checking from a vehicle or four wheeler.

Yeah they're the best push pull trap I'd say
The Z trap is the only DP I use and have not had any problems with them

Thank you and good luck to you
Duke pd my favorite dp as well.
I really like the powder coat finish as well.
I wish they offered them powder coated white.

Any thoughts on the no bs do traps? I saw a video on it. Guy swapped to it. It’s a pull only
I don't think I've ever actually looked at one in person but I really do prefer the pull only traps.
Big differences I see in picture is it has a longer chain with earth anchor, the chain and spike are separated and it has a black powder coating
I agree 100% duke DP is best quality. Why white paint? Is that to blend in with the snow?

Great choice in traps 👍

@@briancoots you will love them ,a little cat food and some black jack from jeff dunlap = caught coon .
What's the purpose of painting white ? See a lot of people doing that !

Cheap BBQ sauce works great for Dps
Dukes are good
