out of all the clips, the one that gets me is where he's buying celery in the grocery store. Just reminds me of how someone's life doesn't consist of just the spectacular moments, but the ordinary, everyday things too...and that can all get taken away in an instant.
Jonas is the one of the reasons tetris blew up. He inspired many creaters after his battle against Joseph. Sad to see him gone in a very short age, only 39. Gone but not forgotten. Cya Jonas.
this is still so hard to comprehend. Jonas was such a great human. I actually owe him s much. He is the reason, why I even am in this community. I still remember how like 3 years ago I was watching all the CTWC videos with Jonas and I was telling everyone how good he is so I decided to pick up the game on my own. He truly was my biggest Tetris idol. Why did he had to go so early.
when Jonas Neubauer spoke at CTWC 2018 after the finals, not gonna lie, i cried. i felt the same kind of familiar love and fondness that a father has for his family. I think that Jonas embodied that role for the tetris community. Outside of this community, tetris is just a silly russian puzzle game. But inside, its family, its new friends and old, it's passion for something that has brought so many generations of people together. It's not just a silly game anymore, its so much more than that now. I think Jonas knew that. Follow your passion, even if others put you down for it, call it pointless. You never know the friends you will make and the places you'll go together. You're the best Jonas, i heard that you're a bartender so, first drinks on us when we get there, your favorite.
2018 I'm sure he knew what was coming in terms of talent into greeting the new folk. He definitely filled that role in being the 1st and greatest ambassador of Tetris
Jonas Neubauer April 19, 1981 - January 5, 2021 Passing the torch to the new generations. Thanks for everything Jonas! Will remember you the most in October during CTWC...
I really don't like first month of January. It's such a bad sign for all of us. We already two great people Brad Venable and now him because of news notification. Sometimes, I just wanted to shut my eyes, go to sleep, and pretend like nothing happens. Now, it's too late.
It was great to see him play other games and have just as much fun as he did playing Tetris. He was a great man gone from this world too soon. RIP Jonas.
Beautiful video, thank you. It was tough watching all these joyous moments, my heart is truly broken for Heather. All my thoughts and love are for her. Rest easy Jonas, your legacy and kindness will never be forgotten
RIP Jonas you legend. He really seemed like the coolest guy in the world. I'll certainly miss your streams and tournament plays! Condolences to his friends, family and partner.
Thanks to the stream clips, and candid moments, it’s easier for people to remember we that this isn’t just a Tetris guy that won’t be there anymore. He leaves behind a wife who wakes up alone now. We’re not promised anything. I’m sure Heather is still hurting now, and I hope it gets easier for her sooner than later. Thanks Jonas for bringing Tetris to so many people.
This video makes me both happy and sad at the same time. I figued out how to play tetris for real watching Jonas. I feel really bad for heather losing her husband at such a young age. When I first started watching in 2016 It seemed like he was a mythical guy with some sort of ability to think in a way no one else really could. Watching his streams he was just a normal guy. Classy in victory and defeat. I am not really a gamer but watch the Tetris tourney's every year and some selected twitch streams, his being one of the very few. Never in my life did I think I would get this upset over someone in a E-Sport dying. But here we are. God Speed Jonas!!
Wow 2016, props to you. Must have been a fun sight to see before the explosion of young players. I've watched a couple of his Tetris 101 vids to have some idea how to play. Can't say that I grew up with this game much like a lot of people, but I felt compelled to make something memorable in honor of him.
@@rs_tornado577 It was crazy for me when the younger kids started playing. When I was watching the classic stuff. level 15 start was still a thing. It common now like very common to hit 19 in a match it happened only sometimes. A max out was a huge deal but now it happens all the time. Jonas could have been a total jerk when he was on top, But he made those videos to share what he knew, Not sure if he thought he would bring people into the game but he did. Nothing but respect for the guy.
The trophies that are shown was when the CTWC started using the T-Piece trophy that we are all familiar with. The trophies from the first 3 tournaments were different.
I don't think it is shared what happend. But all we knew was that is health condition wasn't the best. I assume it had something to do with that. I will update when we find out.

I honestly hadn't thought of that, just saw it as a funny derp moment.
The celery had a kink, it was a J piece.
I'm fairly new to the Tetris Community and everyone is so cool. It's so sad to see Jonas go
So am I, very grateful to have chatted with him on his streams.

Definitely, much thanks to his streams and being helpful. Got me to start actually playing it.
This made me cry and smile at the same time. What an amazing human being.

@@rs_tornado577 Oh gosh yes, it must have been so tough to make. But I am very grateful you did. I'm still shocked with the news now to be honest
I missed his streams. Life goes on I guess...
I'm glad you made this video after the news of his passing. I miss his Twitch Streams as that was my hangout.
That Rob Scallon vid (2:13) was my gateway to the tetris community. Boom Tetris for Jonas!
Rest in Peace, we wouldn;t be here without you

We're going to miss you... :(
My biggest inspiration. I will always miss you Jonas.
Thank you for this very nice tribute video. I only visited his stream one time but he did make me feel like an old friend. Rest in peace Jonas.
What a legend, he will be remembered forever
These clips really put a smile on my face. I'm really gonna miss him...
The community will never let him die, Jonas is immortal as long as we remember him. RIP Tetris legend
JONAS MAXED OUT....! Great video! Goddammit, you made me cry!!
We’ve all been grieving. Would also say he had a really tough time maxing out in the quals in 2020. Glad he pulled through.
He maxed out his life. Sadly it was shy by around 50 points.

Jonas inspired me to improve my tetris skills, but more importantly, inspired me to become a better person. I still can't believe he's gone 💔
loved him. it is so sad. r.i.p., Jonas.
Great tribute video. Thank you for putting it together.
"Not tetris" is going to feel so empty. Jonas is the one that turned me on to it.
Boom tetris for Jonas
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😢
Thank you for this. It is impossible to sum up the years of joy he brought to us, but considering what you had to select, it was a worthy collection.
There was so many clips and memories, impossible to add them all, but I think I did ok capturing those funny or epic moments.

what a beautiful video. rest in peace Jonas...
Very beautiful. Thank you.

Boom Tetris for Jonas, my dream was to go to Portland and see, always watching the videos, stay strong Heather plz

How did he die?
He got off the couch to get something and then collapsed. He never regained consciousness. We don't know exact cause and we should not speculate.
DVT/PE most likely.
His heart stopped (NOT a heart attack) and we don't know why.

This is late. It's on his social media page. Basically, his heart stopped (not a heart attack) and they don't know why.
It still doesn't feel real.
