Today's test is the Rockford Fosgate T800.4 (2006/2007). It is rated at 200x4 or 400 x 2 (bridged). I will make an effort to post a video on Tuesday's, at least a couple times a month, highlighting a different amp each time. More amps to be tested soon! Some will pass, some will FAIL!
*DISCLAIMER - The amp testing you see me doing on my BENCH, is exactly that, on my BENCH. It is limited to 3 12v batteries and 3 14v batteries. You might see the starting voltage higher then the 12.8 (12v) or the 14.5 (14v) bank. That is because i have a 10a intellicharger keeping the batteries fresh in between rounds. The 10a does not contribute much at all to the power supply but the voltage appears higher as they try to replenish the batteries. It quickly comes back down once the test starts. The AD-1 was designed to be brought out to your car and amps tested while STILL in the vehicle. The test results will be highly influenced by the electrical system YOU provide while your amplifier is being tested. Although my bench is FUN, it is probably limited to about 1800-2000 watts. Smaller amps will show better results as they will not pull the battery bank down as hard. I will test some very large amps but they will need to be hooked up to a larger power source, like my Tahoe with 4 alternators and 10 batteries.
Serial # 00001 is in the building! the SMD D'Amore Engineering Amp Dyno AD-1 is about to set the standard in car audio for amplifier ratings. Does your 5000 watt amp really do 5000 watts? Whether it is car, pro, or home audio, the AD-1 AKA the Honey Badger, does not care.
Remember, the amp dyno isn't so much about your amplifier not making the power as it is WHY the amp isn't making its power. If your electrical system, or some other link in the chain is not working to its full potential, the amplifier will not either. The dyno shows any small change you make in REAL TIME.

I think the model number of this amp is T8004 (without the dot) and they are from 2005/6 time frame. I had a T4004 once and it was rated at 25x4, but actually did over 100x4 at 4 ohms. Man, I have a TON of old school amps and the Amp Dyno would make my testing SO much easier! Really enjoy the tests man, keep them comin'!!
Is it possible that you could get the t8004 and dyno that amp? I just got one the other day for free and I know it's not doing 50 per channel.

because Rockford amps are underrated. Please don't complain. The last amp i tested had 1200 watts on the top of it and did 199. LOL....

when you actually install this into a car, you will set the gains according to what they are being used for. If you need all the channels to output the exact same amount of power, for a set of woofers for example, you would gain match the front and rears. This test shows how much power the channels are capable of, but there will always be small differences between channels on any brand of amp (before gain matching).
meade916 just a noob question but the first test was bridged to 2 channels right and the 2nd channel put out almost 100 more watts then channel 1 is that a sign of an issue with the amp ? And if you can run subs on this amp would it cause an issue because one sub seeing that much less power ? It seems like they would be battling each other and not moving in sequence but i don’t even know if this amp can run subs or just for door speakers sorry if it’s a dumb question it had me wondering. I have a t15004 and a t8002 both mint I plan to use on my first real build they are beasts !!!
Rockford fosgate always seems to test higher than rated especially old school fosgate
From what I see and hear RF are very good amps, but I have a dilemma. I bought a car from the local police auction and when I opened the trunk it was missing the woofers in the custom made box,so I removed the the very well built enclosure only to find 1-4000.1..1-2000.1 1-800.4 all on back deck..I took the three amps to a local stereo store and the 4000.1 doesn't work. So my dilemma is is it worth fixing and who can do the work..I really like your dedication to stereo atmosphere and keep up the good work

RockFord amps is all I use because I don't have time to be going back and replacing blown amps. I don't do a ton of installs anymore but installed a Power T-500 and punch 400.4 several years ago with no issues recently put this in another Hummer. And I've installed a total of 14 amps in 3 limo's for another customer. 2 amps in the small limo /5 amps in the medium sized limo and 7 amps in the new limo. No issues other than some blown speakers and they play @ high volume all night long.
Damn the amp dyno has been out for 5 year already lol but for real this was a big plus for car audio A simple test that shows clear as day what companies are bs and overrate their amps and helps people like me that are just getting into car audio find a amp that puts out what it says it does or close to at least so we don’t buy something and hope its doing rated power and think it’s legit because of that bs CEA-2006 compliant logo lmao

And this is why i buy RF amps. May be expensive, but when they're putting out sometimes double what other equally rated amps put out, it's worth it.
My little 300-1 is meant to put out 300w, the sheet included with it says it'll do 430wrms+ @ 14.4v w/2ohm, and i believe it.
This is a great example of how low voltage effects and amp and clipping. I bet that amp only put out less on lower voltage was due to clipping. I wanted to do this test myself but didnt have the equipment, great vid.
Almost 1400watts, I have found a new fav channel.
I've owned two T4k's and BOTH of them blew some MOSFETS on both amps. Everything was correctly installed, but I just didn't have any luck with them. I've owned AQ amps, DC, and even a Sundown with no problems and the same wiring. I still love me some RF products though. I'm running 3 T400.4's still for mids and highs. Amp Porn!!!!
I sold Pyramid car stereo and PPI back in the mid 90's at a shop in Phoenix. The heat sink on the Pyramid was 20x bigger than the PPI so people wanted to buy them. They weren't so happy a month later when the Pyramid was broken, woofers blown and it never got as loud as the system in my car with a PPI A600 and a pair of 10's. :)

nope, can test over 30,000 watts. But my BENCH can only supply about a couple thousand watts before the batteries start to get taxed.
Yes sir I agree. The lows at the beginning are a beast. I have 2 l7 15 and those last 2 lows sound beautiful
T3002 is a nice one as well for dynamic power
This amp is rated by Rockford at 50x4 RMS at 4 ohms.
So what is it really putting out at RMS/per channel at 4 ohms?

I actually sold one to P. Stone and the other I sold to my cousin. But they were purchased from a authorized dealer. I have two D3100's in the back and a D6500 up in the front with a DC 270xp alt. Power is good. I still enjoy me a good RF product :) I'll never blame THEM because like you said, shit does happen. I'm just waiting to see what they're gonna drop next as far as amps go!!!! :O whoooooooooo!!!!!!
also why was one channel putting out 55 more watts on one channel? i know its not exact but that seems a bit far. and the amp is 6 years old but i am a curious guy :D and i love everything you do man!

I'm super happy my buddy bought one of your Dd1's so I'll know for sure all my amps will be tuned without any distortion cause my last big system with my 6 15 in JL W6's and my precision power Pc 2350's I kept hitting my clipping points and that shit alone will drive your ass insane trying to find that perfect gain sets till I just would turn it to around 3/4 of the way and just said fuck it and walked away lol what was super nuts was my amp put out 1400 @ 4ohm bridged but when we checked the out put it was only 5.5 ohms and if I tried to add another sub or two it would take it down so low it would cut off cause it wasn't stable to that ohm load that was something that had me puzzled for years have u ever had a problem like that before it was like either the sub ohms wasn't correct or the amp wasn't reading it correctly but when I took the W6's out and put the 8 15 in JL W0's 8 ohms it worked out fine as far as the ohm load. Went and I got a real serious question can u take a duel voice coil sub and run matching amps and wire one voice coil to 1 amp and the other voice coil to another amp and if need be maybe put it on some kinda gain splitter splitter to where your getting the same exact amount of watts through both amps to 1 single sub ??
Another great test Steve, I love seeing these but they also make me wonder if my 2004 Kicker KX 450.2 and 400.1 are putting out anywhere close to what they should.

Hey Steve. Been watching your videos for a while now, and its great stuff. I was wondering if you have ever thought of testing DJ amps on your dyno. Im thinking about getting a Rockville RPA5 500 watt amp for my DJ system, and wondering if it do what it says it do.

Was that per channel or bridged?? my 800@4 does 152W-4ohms /305.7W-2ohms per channel.. 2 channels bridged 568.0W-4ohms Tested @ 1k-10db On VELLEMAN HPS10 Hand Held True RMS Oscilloscope.. @ 14.5V.. It's 10-15 watts more per channel tested @ 40hz-10db.. My jvc likes the -10db tracks volume @ 48 of the 50 before clipping on rca jacks.. power output volume 33 @ clipping. Good thing i'm not using them speaker outputs.

Had this amp for a year and never hooked it up. I was sick as a dog once I found out how REALLY sick that amp is. I had to catch up with dude and see if he would sell it back. $130 is the price he told me. Still in good condition. What chu guys think?

my brother has one in his jetta hooked up to two orion xtr 124s that shit pounds!! I built a custom box for them too hits 133db on the meter. tuned at 35hz bc we like listening to music too.

I'd be curious to see more of these videos. We have a few nice rockfords tested. A boss that wasn't so bossy. Something in the middle would be interesting. Like a sony, mb quart, kicker.

im not a pro but only amps I be looking at are Kenwood, alpine, kicker, JL, infinity, JL audio, mtx, RE audio sound stream, DC, and as we all know Rockford fosgate. theres a lot out there but form what I seen in person I be leave the ones I listed are great to put money into for your sound audio depending on your budget.
you need a good power supply for a T4000.1. Did RF fix them for free? Shit happens, but RF has ALWAYS had the best CS. If they didn't fix them for you then that means you got them from a non authorized source and when that happens, there is no telling who had the amp before you, how it was treated etc. I know out of the 9 i have owned, only 2 had a problem but they were the first ones off the assembly line. Ever since then, NO PROBLEMS at all....and i still have 6 of them :D
meade916 ....i just got two 2000wat 15inch lanzar subs i broke my 1000wats crunch amp cuz i had it on the box so i hooked up my 250wat amp its a mtx termanator
So the 250wat amp mtx termanator bumps the 15inch subs pretty good but over heats i wonder why lol

Hey man amazing work! Keep it up but I have a Kenwood KAC-7205 1,000 watt amp. I was wondering if sometimes soon you could dyno it, cause im very interested what the true ratings are for it, and if it'll really pump out 1,000 watts.
we all know rf does rated easily. throw up some tests of some entry level stuff to see who is actually not exaggerating their numbers

I sub'd to you a year or two ago because I was intrigued by some sort of box you were building using only magnets. steve when you charge your batteries do you unhook all your amps and wiring? i never knew if i can charge while everything still connected so to be safe i unhook everything. if i didnt have to that would save me a bunch of time. thank you

Hello Steve, I had 2ch RF T15002 and I'm going to put 2pcs RF T1-12 d4 (600wrms) subwoofers. My question, Can it handle for both sub woofers? Is it maximum with power?

I don't know if you've heard bout the rock series amps I recently bought one it says it does 1000 rms at 1 ohm don't know if you'd be interested in testing it ...saludos from Mexico I like your videos and installs
if it says Sound STORM, the answer is no. I would bet almost anything you won't even get 1/2 of what it says...go look at the "1200 watt" amp test i did...your results will almost certainly be similar.
Heat cycling anything will degrade metal components over time. Also, most all metals oxidize to some degree or another (only a few don't). Just exposure to air and moisture will eventually degrade metal electrical connections.

Amp's wont put out rated power if you don't have the power to back it up.
Yes please, I have two brand new Hifonics BRX24000.1D that I purchase for my RE AUDIO XXX12D2 and I'm hearing the same thing. Some say they are BS, some say they are cheap and some say they are sae compliant to the watts that's specified. I just need to know before I open them up should I keep them or send it back and go with a different line.

depends is look a issue for ya it can be as simple as a lil to a good amount of silicone /or ca glue or even epoxy works wonders almost any adhesive can be used for most cone issues i have personaly used silicon on two of my daily driver subs and epoxy on a composite pioneer that i gort 4 free was gonna be tossed over a small hole in cone
its not really that big although its bigger then the current 800 watt amps by far :D You wanna talk big, the T4000.1's i have are straight up surf boards hahah
You should test a jl audio 1000/1 slash series amp or the 1200/1 if you ever get one around.

I'm looking to get a 1000-1500w amp but not sure which brand to buy ... I'm looking to run a single Sundown, RE Audio, SKAR, or Image Dynamics 1000w-1200w 15 or 2 smaller 600w 12s in a 95 Honda Civic. I never know what brand to trust so I stayed w/ Mainstream equipment so far. 175amp Alt. Stinger 35ah under hood, Knu 0ga Big 3, Rockford 4ga Dual Amp Kit, Alpine 9886 - Alpine MRP-M500 - Polk PA660 - Infinity Kappa 6.5 rear - Kenwood 6.5 Components front - Rockford P3 12 (04 version) 2cu. ft.
Can you test any of the hifonics amps? A lot of people are making a fus about them and I don't know whether to trust them.
