Much the same is being said by the Moroccan authorities after releasing their criminals from detention and sending them across to Spain. Cases of rape, mugging, stabbing and general theft have increased exponentially in most of Spain’s larger cities while Morocco enjoys a new found civil peace. For centuries flocks have been safe. Even in the middle ages when some were starving, the English peasants never stole sheep.
A friend had her flock stolen, including an elderly pet ewe. It was heartbreaking.

The peasants didn't steal sheep because if caught they would have been hanged also if they poached rabbits they would have been deported to the new discovered Australia for life of hard labour

It happened to me, I challenged some fully masked intruders, and called them 'a f*****g nuisance, then I was called to the police station and interviewed with a solicitor present on a public order offence!! After 2 more months I was told no further action, well done the police, another person who dislikes them

Not just the farms. The Poles decimated all the carp stocks. My brother is into coarse fishing in Scotland (carp) and he started noticing it in 2004. The Poles do not understand you catch a fish, weigh it, photograph it and release it immediately, having put it gently on a special unhooking mat. They also rip out ceps with the mycelium - they don't ever go to a forest with an intention just to look, admire, everything is utilitarian to them, the approach is 'take, take, take'. They also are emboldened by the British lack of resolve, once they got their feet comfortably under the table (at least in Scotland), they now threaten those who challenge their behaviour. My brother is no longer a water bailiff for that reason - he challenged a couple of Polish men on a Carp Group water - they were swimming in the stagnant water of a loch (!!!!) close to a cygnet nest, distressing the bird and they threatened him. They also fish on Carp Group waters without buying membership - and this membership does not cost a lot. Years ago one journalist (I think Alexander Booth) wrote an article 'Legal to East Europeans is anything they can get away with'. Sums it all up wonderfully.
Yup, and they raid the nests around the ponds in Springtime taking eggs. I checked the nest of one and they hadn't left a single one for the parent fowl to raise. Think about the old adage of the Native Americans which always talk of talking a small amount, leaving the bulk to replenish the stock for the future. I was visiting friends in the England in Sept one year and saw a bunch of men with baskets of boletus and in my usual friendly rural manner exclaimed, 'lovely day fro it!' to which my friend pointed to a white van in the carpark and told me these were E Euro groups that come in and decimate the entire stock to be sold to London restaurants. 'Take what you can, give nothing back' seems to be the name of the game these days/ Considering we have MPs which take an inordinate amount in expenses each year, we don't have a role-model system to lead by example. In SA, this is a terrifying nightmare. Farms are remote, and farmers need to go about the business of farming to feed the nation. In your case, it might still be about stock theft or theft of equipment for the moment. There is so much you can do to help your farmers! Don't turn away!
As a small farmer i can tell you we don't get much trouble out here,firearms and no cameras is ample deterrent.

I cannot agree I'm afraid. See my comment I've added about a close friend and his experience. These people know that very few law abiding people would use a shotgun on anyone and they will still confront a farmer! And in this country, the law is not on your side that's for sure.

I've had experience of this, a farmer approaching me and treating me with hostility and suspicion until he established I was just an English bloke out walking. As Simon said, it makes the countryside a less relaxed place to be.

we had Romainian family opened a vegetable shop in town and raided the veges from neighbouring farms to sell in shop as well as buying from markets. They lived rent free refusing to pay rent 1 year and thanks to SNP giving tennents free run, landlord powerless to evict them or claim any costs back
My daughter has seen shopkeepers at the food bank. The food bank have now been obliged to limit them to once a week
As a former small landlord the law is no use whatsoever in landlord tenant relations. When my first tenant walked out without paying I asked an experienced landlord what I could do he said simply forget it. He was right the court ordered them to pay the £800 off at £5 a month.
Even if they're British there are no end of agencies to help them give the landlord a hard time. References are worth nothing you just have to hope they are decent people because if they're not you've had it.
The exception is the big landlords whose companies are based in the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands who employ big men with Rottweilers. They're complete **** but they never have any trouble and the law can never really go after them

As Polish woman I m realy, realy ashamed for the behaviour of those Balts and Slavs with whose nations I always connected myself as with neighbours and cousins :) As proud tinhat ("Thinking, Independent, Neutral, Honorable, Apolitical, Troublemaker") I think that it was all by design - there are many ways to destroy european farmers - like high taxes, immigration, copyrights of tech and of plants, high prices of energy, limits in fertilising, "green" limits on this or that, and extensive import of food from outside of UE esp without "EU norms" of health savety.
I used to work with a guy who’s father was a Rhodesian farmer. He told a story that all the farmers kept shotgun shells loaded with salt and a local seed. If anyone tried to break in, they’d get this as a warning shot, a few days later, the seed would start to germinate causing pain and swelling. Off they’d go to the doctor who’d call the local police to arrest the would be thief knowing the cause of this. I can’t remember the name of the seeds.

I live in North East, Scotland, where local farmers, have used nothing but imported, foreign labour, since the 1990's. What the BBC, also won't tell you, is this is the (ahem) chickens, coming home, to roost. These farmers 'diversified' themselves, with preferred foreigners, amazed at all the expensive farm equipment, left unsecured. No doubt regaling compatriots, with tales of untold riches, to be simply driven away, and exported, back home. Why do you think, they know, where such goodies, are to be had?
When you look at the list of production staff appended to any BBC production, it is not surprising they are coy at identifying culprits as foreign.

Just opened my post this morning.Received a penalty notice for driving at 35 in a 30 zone.Wide country road with no pedestrians.Clearly the police have their priorities wrong.Not really interested in catching real crims.
We had an incident recently down in the south west where a couple of gentlemen of Middle Eastern appearance were throwing rocks at seals on the beach.
Going right up to the wild animals and making them panic, then lobbing big stones at them just to get a reaction.
All caught clearly on camera.
Sure the odd local yob/chav kid May do similar stupid actions. But these men were in their 30s at least.
Shared values can no longer be expected when meeting strangers in the UK.
Diversity is our strength after all.
They come from societies that never often never developed agriculture.

Did you listen to the video before posting, or do you think there is no agriculture in Eastern Europe? A Few days ago, someone from Poland was delighting that their country is so crime free. I didn't respond, but perhaps should have said that's because many of their criminals have come to the west, whether of their own volition or with a 'nudge' from whatever government was in power in their homeland who can say.

Many times they have been caught, killing swans and carp in our local park. They just get a slap on the wrist and a small fine. As an excuse, they usually say that they could do it back home, so they thought it was ok to do it here !

This sort of thing is going to affect access to the countryside for all of us. Where once farmers allowed public access for all, will be revoked. This is a real shame for all of us. Farming is hard enough at the best of times and a rural police force is almost non existent. Animals wandering around in fields will also be a thing of the past and will only be found in childrens books. It makes me sick.
Create a volunteer group to help farmers. Sort of like the adopt-a-road program we gave here. A group of friends or a scout group have a section of road they look after- they pick up litter, fix fences then have a picnic.

I live in the countryside and a local farmer told me that they come out with several vehicles at a time, at night and just help themselves to his crops (which he supplies to Lidl and Waitrose). It is a very sophisticated operation. The police can't catch them apparently because it takes them over an hour to respond to a call-out, and longer, if they suspect the robbers are armed. The farmer says he has reluctantly come to accept it and allows for it in his business plan. Of course we, Joe Mugs, are paying for this extra cost. The farmer claims they are Romanian and Albanian. I don't know how he knows this but apparently all his farmer friends are having the same thing happening to them so word gets around.
It's a shame that local farmer doesn't install some 'tank traps' err pardon, I mean some "drainage soak pits". On an obvious vehicle entrance to his field, dig a pit somewhere 1 to 3 metres deep, then cover it over with a thin covering, such as roofing iron and a few inches of soil/grass. ("It's a drainage pit, your honour !") In the middle of the night, any unauthorised visitors vehicles will be crash through the top and be so thoroughly stuck they'll still be there when the poolice eventually turn up !

I now carry a can of water in my vehicle, I put out 2 small but potentially detrimental fires in field gateways last summer, the corn was almost at harvest point, no way did they start by accident.

Any accidents involving a tourist results in the tourist being at fault. The simple reason is the accident wouldn’t have happened if the tourist wasn’t there. A simple but very effective law that could be trialed.

I now have a tracker on my vehicle to keep insurance premiums as low as possible and therefore have lost yet another civil liberty because of the foreigners stealing, crashing for money and claiming falsely for nefarious injuries.

Simon I'm in wales and there was a spate of sheep rustling! Most of which ended up in the Birmingham area !! These sheep were known as smokers ??? Hence a large number of farmers here are turning to cattle !!

Our local alotments are now being raided on a weekly basis. Asked around and its never happened in peoples memories, going back to ww2. They take anything, including fruit n veg.
A friend of my dad had farm and it was being raided regularly at night, he went to police and they couldnt do anything, so he camped out and a few days later the criminals returned, this time the farmer let them load the car and on way out laneway the farmer fired both barrels of shotgun into the windscreen, they were both seriously injured and to my knowledge never raided anymore farms. The farmer almost went to jail except for fact it made the cops look so bad as he approached them first to help
...and the perpetrators were foreign nationals, from eastern Europe, I can't remember if it was Latvia or Lithuania, one of the 2

The law does not allow you to hurt the person trying to steal from you so they are very difficult to stop even if you catch them at it. I think that should be changed now that we are under threat.

Last week I reversed my LandRover to make way for a big white van in a country lane. 25 years ago I had an allotment, and as I was going on holiday I went to the allotment at 6am in order to water it,as I would be away for a week.
I went into my shed to get my watering can,and within seconds a van pulled up and out came 4 men.They spoke with a foreign accent,and looked to be Asian.They started to pull up fruit and vegetables from most of the plots and as they had forks and other implements,I decided to stay in my shed.
They chucked everything they had picked and dug up,onto the back of their van and drove off.They were there for roughly 15 minutes, and in those days I didn't have a mobile 'phone.The nearest 'phone box was vandalised so I could only report the matter to the police when I got home !
Apparently these thefts had been a regular occurrence from allotments,and I spoke to the council and they were very good,and installed a gate with a padlock and all holders were given a key.
Most of my friends on the allotment all agreed I did the right thing by not confronting them,as I was outnumbered 4 to 1,and they were carrying forks.
Rumour was they probably sold the fruit and veg in a shop one of them had.
I'll bet the erm..travelling community isn't happy either. That used to be their job.

A large local private estate, beautifully kept, has permitted walkers and cyclists to traverse their pathways for my entire lifetime, 75 years to date, but no longer. Closed to all, with good reason, just a few months ago.Similarly, our large local supermarket functioned for thirty years with no cesurity guards, until two years ago. Along a similar vein, our local schools were never fenced off (and locked) until a few years ago. And what has been the overriding change in our society, IMMIGRATION. Eglish people, as far as I can tell, are just the same as fifty years ago, mostly good but with a few odd bods.
In my local paper whenever there is a mugging or violent attack they always keep the colour of the perp out of the description.

Livestock rustling has also hit the nature reserves where cattle are free roaming . the small stock cattle used for rough grazing make for an easier target to transport .
