I’m adding a 5cm straight waistband to my skirt (using striped fabric so want to make sure it aligns, and I’m adding belt loops). Could I simply lower the waist on the skirt block so that ultimately the finished skirt still sits at my natural waist and not above it? (It’s feeling too high waisted in my toile!)
My skirt, copied from the initial skirt block, has a back centre zip. ( Stupid question coming up) I presume I just mark off the measurements differently? ( the front takes up the middle section with two parts for the back on either side with the tag on one side??
Excellent vídeo!! One question, the total length of the skirt at the end will be the initial length marked on the pattern plus the height of the waistband? Or do I have to deduct the height of the waistband from the initial length before drafting the pattern? Thanks!!
Great question! In this video, the waistband is added onto the top of the skirt waistband, so the over all length of the garment will increase slightly. Because the waistband is quite narrow, this will not effect the fit of the skirt.
You ROCK! I love to watch your tutorials. You are a really good teacher and what a bonus to listen to your accent!
Excellent tutorial as always.
Glad you liked it!
Many thanks for this tutorial. I am adjusting a pattern from a curved fitted waistband to an elastic one and have found this video very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Love this series 😊
Thanks for watching 😊
