      Jaeger233 yeah, i agree in slovenia its the same, and i do not understand this in the usa, because it applies for everything you go to the store and see the price before the tax and then you have to add up...i mean how do you know how much you have to pay for somethjng if you have to do the math constantlz and i am not against doing the math, but if you are in a hurry and just grab something to eat and you could not have enough money

      Some waiters get paid enough at fancy restaurants. Its still polite to leave a tip. If the bill is high then its expected to leave a fat tip. Its kinda rude if you don't. Sure its not required but its polite.

      @@BlueHat1 You tip in the US because in most states, servers make $2/hr. That's right. Two dollars per hour. Customers are expected to tip. The system is stupid, but that's how it is. If you go out to a restaurant in a state where servers make $2/hr, you are expected to tip them.

    People are complaining that this story is superficial but you are missing the point... It is supposed to be superficial, making fun of 'fake' one-dimensional societal problems through IRONY (rich white girl walking around her expensive house and complaining about tips and relationship). For what we know, the story can even be made up, partially made up, or simply missing some crucial details.

    • @Amy-vr5yt

      sorry, but i think you are trying to find complexities that don't exist. IF VOGUE is trying to poke fun at SUPERFICIALITY, and rich, white girls in expensive houses, complaining about one dimensional problems, then they are poking fun at a large portion of their own audience.

      I actually don’t think it’s hinting at any irony. Vogue is superficial. I love it but it is. This is no deep, hidden meaning, ironic video. I think you should actually take it at face value, haha! Also, that is actually a terrible problem (bad tippers). People like that are horrible. If you can afford dinner out, then yes you should tip for the service as well. I understand if you go to those places with no table service that ask you to tip or if you had a horrible server...other than that, I don’t think people should go out for dinner if you can’t comfortably pay for the tip.

    If she’s talking about I think she is (Henry Cavill) then three things:
    1. Henry is British and our waiters have a decent salary without having to rely on tips so if it’s him then all she had to do was tell him cause I wouldn’t have a freaking clue how much to tip in the US cause most countries don’t have to worry about that, tips are just a bonus to waiters. Feel bad for US waiters but she didn’t need to call him out just tell him.
    2. Why couldn’t she tip if she felt so strongly??? Did he have to pay for everything? open your purse
    3. If it is Henry, she’s no angel either. Henry has said she threw a glass at his head! Glad he left.

    I have kind of the reverse problem :P If I'm dating someone that I know is barely getting by or complains about money issues, and I see them spending all their money on eating out and 30-50% tips, it makes me think that they are irresponsible and reckless with their money...definitely a turn off but not a deal breaker XD (and yes of course I would discuss the issue with them if I had a big enough problem with it)

      He was a star and she was a nobody. He was probably taking her to very expensive restaurant, spending upwards of $100 per meal. That's 20 dollars or more every time they went out. Which can be quite expensive for someone living off minimum wage, or anything close to it. Especially back then, when the minimum wage in California was much lower than it is today.

    im not american, so i have diffrent point of view then most of you. But in my understanding tip is there to honor really good services. So if services are avarage or below avarage you shouldnt pay tip. Today many waitresses need to get tip, because their salary is so bad, that brings an obligation to the customer to pay tip. Restraunts should just raise prises and pay more to there employees.
    So if people give big tips they worsen the "problem" (waitress gains more --> restraunt pays less to employee --> employee more dependent on tip). For me poeple that pay huge tips do that more because of their ego and to impress others around them and less bc they care for the people

    8% of $600 is $48 in contrast the $13 of 2,2% of the amount. Initially, a 10% tip is fair and square.

  • @TMIDiva
    @TMIDiva 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Think she's actually serious about this one....in a funny way. Bad tippers reveal something about themselves. I know, there are people who won't tip "On principal" and people who really don't have enough money and a night out is a big treat that they scrimp to afford. A pass on the scrimpers, an evil eye on the "principal" jerks. A waitress, a bartender, a cab driver and a hairstylist ALL count on tips to make ends meet. The tip represents a bit of respect and gratitude. If you have a nice comfortable life, it's on you to recognize that you are fortunate and need to spread it around. Not doing something so fundamentally "good guy" shows that, in a larger sense, you've got no concept of how much you owe the universe.

      Some states allow their restaurants to pay waiters below the minimum wage because they assume the waiters will get tipped. So they won't survive unless they get tips.
      I always tip 15-20% (or more if service was exceptional), but i don't really see the point of it especially because I live in a state where waiters make at least the minimum wage or more, and especially when the waiters do a poor job. And yes I have worked in food service and customer service before...I did not think it was any harder than any other jobs I've held.

    Anyone who doesn't think it's a good reason is:
    1. A bad tipper themselves
    2. Doesn't live in US/Canada
    Servers pay a % of the bill to the house. If you eat 100 dollars, they owe 5 dollars (less or more depending on the restaurant), regardless if you leave ANYTHING. It's a fcked system, yes. We shouldn't be responsible, yes. BUT, if you have a problem with tipping, then tell your server up front that you're not going to tip them so they don't waste their time on you - you're too embarassed? Then you're just cheap. At least if you're cheap just own it so others know to stay away.

    • @squatch545
      @squatch545 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those excuses have nothing to do with whether or not someone is a compatible marriage partner or not. If the guy is cheap at tipping, it means he is frugal with money, which is actually a good quality in a partner.
