  • In this video, I restore the paint on the roof and trunk of my 1960 Impala , she gets new exhaust along with my dads 1960 el Camino, she gets a new radio, rear window trim piece, license plate door and wiper washer kit. The 1946 international gets new tires. Dad and me also fly on the Ford tri motor airplane from 1929. We end the video off by going to the duct tape drags where we brought the Impala and international out and meet some of you cool subscribers and hangout for the day.

How doe that even work?! Like the top clear coat rusted? I've seen some nasty clear coats but they were just yellow and cracked, never rusted.
Maybe that's some metal flaking in the top coat?

    * Hey Travis & Dad ! Haven't check in in a while. Everything is coming along nice. Personally I would have used the red rims to add a little "Pop" to the old gal (46IH) I still love that one. I subscribed to follow her when you dug her out of that yard. I want to thankyou for the Trimotor Ride. Seen a lot of those in museums but never footage from inside during a flight. Couldn't believe how much paint was hiding under the rust on the 60 Imp. I believe that color combo is called Ermine White & Horizon Blue. Both sound great with the new exhaust. Cheers ! 🍻👊😎👍🍻

@MaxGiganteum I'm clear on the run off from the roof... the rust on the roof could come from tiny pits in the paint and then it spreads over the entire surface like moss over a rock. is that correct?
is there anything in the paint itself that could rust over decades? it's actually a serious question coz I have seen run off stains but not from a rusted over intact roof. that why I'm a bit puzzled over this roof.

I'd love to see you do a full replacement on your headliner. Mine is cloth and wearing through in places. Not falling down into my head or anything. Just showing it's 64 year age!
I got a "Fix Your Chevy" book with my car. The people who bought it kept it all this time. Shows how to do anything and everything! 👍
Had a couple of service receipts. First service was 5/1960. Was purchased at Edge Chevrolet in Baker, Oregon! Lol Baker isn't very big even now. I can't imagine how tiny of a town it must have been in 1960 ! Lol
That book and these receipts are pretty darn co0ol! One stick-on oil change tag on the door jam too. These are little treasures of these old classics! 💯
Trust me when I tell you I am riding with you whenever you make a video about your 1960 Impala. Too bad I'm in Beaverton, OR and you're in Tucson, AZ. If you were closer I'd drive mine over for us to have the "Sisters" have a chance to catch up! Lol
I wonder if they both came off the same assembly line...
    Co0ol channel, Bro!

I would never have thought the paint would be under there. That Impala looks amazing. And now, sounds amazing too.
That old Tri Motor tail dragger had to have been a hoot to fly around in. I've seen one at a museum, but I don't remember which museum.
Your Dad's El Camino, that metal work on the truck bed is just phenomenal. Especially when compared to the IH with it's basic sheet steel bed.
I miss having a car where you can sit on the fenders. Where the car is designed to be driven with the windows down. One of these days I'll find another 67 Fury III.

Travis, if I remember correctly, mechanical car clocks evolved to a point that they would self-adjust a little bit when you reset the time, meaning, if the clock ran slow and you advance the time to correct it, the mechanism would slightly speed up the clock, after maybe several resets the clock eventually ran correctly. not sure if this was true in 1960 or not, but if your clock lacks the adjustment the '56 Caddy has, just let it run until it gets like 20 or 30 minutes behind, reset it every time it gets 20 or 30 behind and see if it starts doing better. if the interval between resets gets longer and longer, it's working!

That tri belongs to EAA up in Osh Kosh, WI. Hour or so north of me. Glad you enjoyed your flight. They have other restored WW2 planes to see and take a flight in. Yesterday I received an email from EAA that they now have a B25 bomber for flights. Several years back I got to go up in their B17 bomber. Even had the best seat in the nose where the bomber sat. Expensive flight, they use a lot of fuel. Pilot said that if you're walking through the plane while it's in flight and you lose your balance please don't grab onto the cables along the inside of the fuselage. If you do that, you're flying the plane now.

      Hey Travis
Both cars sound pretty awesome and it’s really cool that they’re the same year and same colour!
I wouldn’t ditch those old manifolds with the broken studs, they are easy enough to get out, if you heat the stud area on the manifold up cherry red with a torch, they’ll unscrew with some vice grips or drill and retap if they’re broken flush. Always good to have extra manifolds on hand. Love the wide whites on the truck, I have them on my 41 Ford pickup and look really cool.

Great video Travis! Love to see that 60 coming back around. Dad had a black 60 Chev Bel Air 4dr sedan back in the 1960's and my brothers and I spent a lot of time in the back seat of that car. It even had factory air conditioning (blue Chevrolet logo decal in back window that said "air conditioned") although I never remember dad turning it on. Dad was military and we went cross country a couple of times in that old car and it even spent three years In Germany before being whacked in Maryland in 1968. It was a really quiet car so your car still sounds a little loud to me. Oh, and I think your dad got the tail pipe outlets in the right place. ;-) Love your videos, keep up the good work!

That looks just like the car Mortske had...same color and everything. Good work, but I'm not a patina guy myself...I'd just do the body work and paint it back the original color...I just can't see putting all that work and time in sanding rust and it still looks like it needs a paint job. Love the El Camino, by the way. I wish somebody made a snap-in spacer ring for 15" wheels so you could use the original 14" wheel covers on 15" wheels....

Guarantee the muffler shop moved your generator out of the way to work on the drivers side manifold and they didn't route the belt correctly afterwards.

The paint looks awesome! But for the love of god clean the dust off of the dash! I’ve been looking at several videos with an inch dust on the dash

Darn … You should thrown a 100.00 set of headers on since you had the exhaust manifolds off anyway!
