- Something different today. Don’t worry we’re still a car channel. But you guys said you wanted to see me work on other weird things. So while I crack on with some intense Aston work, here’s my strange buy of the week!

This video just made me smile , a nice change of content. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed! Just a bit of fun! :)
I can't recommend smoking to anyone, but smoking does hold a weird kind of positive nostalgia to me. I however still need my lungs so I'm not going to.
These things do! I’m sure it marks a time in your life, nice to reminisce
Remember when popping down the pub for a quick drink meant smelling like a chimney for the rest of the day.
The good old days when grumpy old people propped up the bars and your shoes stuck to the drink sodden floors.
This is the LockPickingLawyer and what I have for you today is a cordless drill….bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I used a machine just like this one a few months ago in Gran Canaria, it took me back to nights out in my late teens, good times! Now an ex smoker which is something I never thought I’d be able to say..
Great video and great channel, you seem very much like me, interested in all sorts of weird and wonderful things! 😁
Congratulations! That’s great news you’re off them! Very glad you enjoyed and like the channel, if it’s weird, I like it!
I used to fix ATMs, my first job after high school. I was also fascinated with the mechanical workings and how they could tell the difference between notes. It worked by shining an infrared LED through them. Our notes are different colours and it would detect that in some way.
They’re such cool machines. Really cool that you got to work on ATMs. I’m hoping some more old machines will come up at my local auction!
i like seeing you do random stuff like this
I’m glad! I’m going to try for one a month of random cool stuff. Cars will always be the main thing, but smaller projects helps move things along!
@@HudsonAutoFilms you never did specified what you gonna use this thing for... also if you don't smoke where did you get the pack of Marlboro menthols?
9:18 don't know why but that just made me burst into laughter 🤣
Haha I’m glad 😅
When I was a kid I figured my adult home would be full of vending machines and arcade games. Not a single coke machine in sight here
Time to get one!
Waiting to see what "sweets" you stock it up with, now. I gave up sweets 15 or so years ago, but your options are limitless.
So many choices! For the price, I didn’t think it would work. So I’m excited that it does :)
We had earlier versions of those actually in one of the sites where I used to work. Also we had regular visits by Chinooks and other military helicopters at another site (same company), as part of it was and emergency landing area for them and they had to test it once a month. I well remember watching a Chinook sinking into the mud!
Amazing! I see the chinooks fly over fairly often. One got super low for some reason, maybe 10 meters from the ground of my field. I waved but then they left!
Interesting video thanks.
Glad you enjoyed!
Ahhh ciggie machines. The easiest way for kids to buy smokes when underage. In Australia they would round the price up to the next full dollar and tape your change as coins to each pack!
munchin them durries
Haha I would have never known that, funny times 😅
Item 1 10mm spanners. Item 2 1/4" 10mm sockets. Item 3 3/4" 10mm sockets. Item 4 13mm spanners. Item 5 1/4" 13mm sockets. For me this would be the most useful thing in my garage and it's a way to save to replace all the 10mm and 13mm tools that disappear while you're working on cars.
Hahah that’s a great idea. That would save a lot of time!
Wouldnt the vending machine then vanish when you need it
@@186scott you are right. Might be worth building in a GPS to see if these are actually staying on earth or being transported to another universe.
You can change the "price" by changing the settings behind the door, under the grey sheet metal (or the white panel). just put 20 pence for each column. and find empty packages, which you can fill with mechanical parts or chocolates or caramels or whatever you can fit into them.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll give it a go!
can you use washers to replace the coins? cut up some wood into sweets packets.
Both great ideas!
have it dispense all the car keys you've inevitably collected over the years
That’s my favourite idea yet!
I'd like to see you change the value of the buttons (dip switches maybe?)
I’ll give it a go! Possibly beyond my intellect!
There could be a free-vend testing mode, so it could be cycled through by a repair technician without having to go through the rigmarole of feeding coins in. It might not be obvious though, in case pub staff accidentally left it on, or used it to get themselves free “sweets”. Pub staff might have had a key to the machine so they could empty the money out of it periodically. There might be manuals for the machine somewhere online, or a technician who might know how.
If you can get it into free-vend mode how about using it as a key dispenser for your various cars? They could be popped into little “sweetie” boxes, so it all worked properly and didn’t get jammed in the works.
Fun random video.
Back to cars next week!
Love it. Just like me, funnily enough I brought a broken Russian Oscilloscope last week for £30. Not sure what for, I think I might make it into a computer.
There’s got to be a chocolate bar that would fit lovely in there.
That’s awesome! Now I wasn’t one 😅 love the chocolate idea. I’ll get measuring
I never thought ‘I wonder what’s inside’ but as always, you’ve made a fun video that I’m watching for a second time already!
Very kind! I’m glad you enjoyed!
These cigarette packs are a Standard size and apparently there are cardboard packs the same size you could use to pack various things. In the shackspace (Stuttgart hackerspace in Germany) they have (or had) a vending machine where you could buy electronics components you might need.
Interesting. I’ll looking into that, I’d like to have a practical use for it!
Ahh smoking a dying art! 😂
😂😎
Wow...takes me back!
I worked for 12 years vending for a company called "Fags machines" yes correct name lol. I even remember installing the match adverts......
They owned this machine! If you look under the Azkoyen tags inside there is a little blue one! Saying who owned it. You may have held this very machine!
Put box's of some kind of treats, and change the price to what you want...
Cool, and now you can sell cigarettes at home 😁
That’s the plan! 😂
That is a very modern looking machine compared with the last one I used in the late 1970s.
Look at the prices. A pack of 20 used to cost half a crown.
This is one of the last here in the Uk, I forget what year they disappeared. Early 2000’s? Price is cheap by today’s standards. £20 a pack I think!
Hey up mate cool video and a bargain price for a worker, i travelled to Europe about 1985 and was told England's 10 pence was same as one German mark in size and weight for cigarette machines so took some with me, made for cheap fags, on a side note resharpened masonry drills work well on hardened metal really nice that you put out such an odd ball video
That’s a brilliant story! Glad you saved some cash! Also good to note about the drill bits, I’ll try that. I’m glad you enjoyed! I’m going to do a random video once a month, I have so many odd bits that need fixing!
@@HudsonAutoFilms 135 degree angle on drill bits also work wonders instead of the standard 118, do cut alot better in harder steels
Those vending machines have not disappeared they are still around just contain different items and have been updated
The last pack of cigs I purchased cost me 2 bob, looking at those prices they have gone up 100 fold. Yikes.
And they’ve gone up since! 20 quid a pack in my corner shop. Even if I wanted them, I couldn’t afford the habit!
Not as classy as the ones about in the early 90s, usually 'brass plate' and brown 😂
They certainly cared about the looks 😂
@HudsonAutoFilms 👆🏻💯 Saturday's playing pool in the arcades, winning jackpots on the nudge machines buying Embassy Cigarettes.....the life of the Trainspotting generation
Saludos desde México
Hello!
Wow, I didn’t know they still made cigarette vending machines in the 90s
They’re still around in lots of countries!
I love those vending machines. One day i might getting one to dispense something dumb. By the way, am i the only Italian Patreon member?
They’re cool right! I think you are yes! What part of Italy are you from? I lived in Rome for a year
I’m from the north, about half an hour south west of Milan
Not what i expected..
Full of surprises haha
I dare you to fll it up and put it outside and see if you make any money
Haha alright maybe
I honestly thought you were shouting to a friend called Chinook who had dropped by unexpectedly :)
Hahahah
Hmmmm. Spanish company, and the price are in Euro too.
I did see lots of these in Germany, and a few in Italy and a few in Eastern Europe, they are still around and in use.
Also....First
First 🥇. They cleared them out of the Uk so rapidly. It’s funny how certain things imprint on you, when I saw it I recalled the graphics on the front so clearly
@@HudsonAutoFilms We had a few in Australia when I was growing up, but only in Pubs and I hadn't seen one for decades before moving to Europe.
Germany takes the cake, they have them in every single little town, and most are 1970's or 1980's vintage outside of the big cities.
You didn't really good anything, you just drilled the lock out. 😂
I would like to see you customize it for a legit purpose though.
