That's great stuff! My little guy is four and I can't wait to get him on a bike. Watching that brought me back to my first ride. It's a freedom that can't be replaced!!!
I started riding when I was 7 and now I'm over 50 and still loving it. I'm glad our whole family loves it, as there is no arguments about how to spend the weekends.
A toy like that is one of the greatest gifts you can give a child. Teachs them a whole lot about life. It's a great resposiblity for a child to learn early on. Which makes a more resposible grown up later on.
i remember my first ride to, i bought my first 125cc honda and was given a two minute instruction on clutch control, starting and stopping, i then rode home in traffic of central london and practised a little more at home and then went to do motocycle courier the next day, it was brilliant, one of the best things which happened to me. I still ride today at 49
This video brought back memories when i was learning to use clutch, didn't have much problems a bit less than this kid, but after i learned how to use it, it was so rewarding...
My first bike was a 1979 rm60 first thanks to my father we love you and miss you. Keep up the good work little guy before you know it you'll be on a street bike vruuuuum :)
That's the spirit! Who care about how many aftermarket parts you have? It's all about having fun, and making yourself better, no matter when you're starting. Respect.
well done man, I learnt with my dad sitting on the back of the bike and me on the front and him reaching around and showing me what to do with the clutch lever, that was on his full size bike when I was about 10. At least your wee guy can do something that a lot of adults can't do in N America, and that drive a non automatic vehicle. It looks great there with all that open space, better than squashed up old UK.
I always drive on the back when teaching a person to ride a clutch , I show them, the first time around them, 2nd time help them with the clutch, then 3rd time they ride alone and I coach. Has always worked best imo....
Well done m8,I am teaching my son now how to use a clutch and gear box.....He is doing what my lad used to do dumping it and not enough, then not giving enough gas once they,ve got the hang of the clutch! He,s doing very well though keep up the good work.......... BOTH OF YOU !
reminds me of learning my first time. only thing was i was 15 and my bike was a 23 year old xr600. lol good times lots of pain but good times. now im actually pretty good i race and now i ride a ktm 520 =) keep it up all young riders.
it'll be second nature to use the clutch within a few days of riding. If you want, you can pull the clutch, put it in gear and coast it down an incline and let the clutch out. Then when you feel more comfortable, you can let it out while stopped.
I first used a clutch in a car, so it's not so hard on a bike. I admit that I stalled the engine a few times. It's just a training thing and the earlier you teach a kid the easier he or she will have it later.
@bcbackrider Yea man. I love just taking the quad out back and just goin wild. Exp when your racing around the yard (or track) thinking of nothing but when your gonna turn, when to throttle, that perfect rpm 2 shift. It is just such a clear minded thing to do, I absolutely love it. Pushing it to the edge, you have (well you CANT have) anything to think about other than riding that quad/dirt bike. Its such an awesome experience, every time I ride. Good thing to teach your kid man, best of luck.
cool mate! keep riding. :-) i got my first bike when i was 12 for my birthday but it was a honda rs125 :-) now i have a cr250 and honda rs125, and now a rs250! good luck! Tim :-)
i learned to clutch at the age of 9 i think, i was riding a honda CRF80F and 100F and i must say it wasnt easy, but it takes some time and when u know it, its just in ur head and its really easy when u learned it
I remember when i was teaching my cousin to work the clutch. Only took about 4 tries. But i forgot to tell him to pull the clutch in when you hit the brakes. Yeah didn't go so well, lol, good times.
lol... too good,, the suspense from the beginning is great. Just got the 9 year old a 125 chineeeeeese import..too big for him at the mo, (need to see if he's interested) but I'm going down the enclosed video road..with a twist.. straight into the humps & bumps thanks
i used to hate the clutch until i figured out the Blessings there is from one hahah especially out of small tight corners with a jump right out of it :D

WEEL DONE DUDE! NOW I WANT TO TEACH MY SON HOW TO RIDE A BIKE TOO,CONGRATS!
Nice job... i can't believe thats his first time on the big bike. He did almost as good as me my first time. Lol. Pretty rare that an adult looks that good with a bike for the first time. Look around here and see all the grown men that can't understand what this kid knows. Keep riding little guy. Just never lose respect for them...Not even for a second. Cause they WILL put you in your place FAST.
I learned at 13 how to use a clutch on a bike i was 5'7 on a 400ex got it on my first few try's switched over to a clutched bike at 14 and it took at least 4 times with the balancing clutching and throttle and that was with previous experience Good Job
i didnt get to learn how to use a clutch till i was about 10 or so (im 16 now) but once i learned ive always wanted to ride quads and bikes that have clutches... so much more fun than just shifting without a clutch....
Congratts to this kid! My stupid overweight Uncle wanted to ride my Yamaha Gt-80 one day after he and my Dad had been drinking. I said no, but my dad over ruled me. He started it up, my Dad told him the gears and a very brief explanation of 'the clutch'. If you had told me that a motorcycle is capable of climbing straight up a fence and then straight down the other side of it to continue on by itself riderless before that afternoon I'd have called you a liar....but that's what I saw happen.
I remember when my dad showed me hot to use the clutch. Right as soon as I got it down I hit a fence. Now I race and have one both races so far got second and first in the heat
hes good and he learnt alot faster at setting off than i did lol i got clutch control and shifting down pretty quick tho cos my dad said that if i didn't know how to shift within my first hour he was selling my bike so i caught on pretty fast i think it was more of a motivation thing tho haha but he is a fast learner like me :)
Sounds perfect. If your still growing though then get one that's too big for you so that you can grow into it. Just like how your Mom gets you sneakers that are too big so that you can grow into them. I weigh 110 lbs and am 5'6 and have a manual (with a clutch) 225cc, it's too big for me, but that makes it perfect. (Yamaha ttr 225, for the trails obviously). Very good bike at what it does.
ive always been shit with clutches on bikes lol :P it takes me a while to get used to em, but fine once thats done :) he's a good father, he knows what he's on about lol
i remember when i learned how to ride a bike i was tired so i went on my dirtbike with big training whelles. You know to humugous training wheels for first timers.
yah its one down 5 up depends if you have a 6 speed or 5 but youll automaticly pass neutral going to 2nd say if your in neutral clutch in of course click down once ur in 1st and get going then second clutch in go up once to 2nd it wont hit neutral then then rest is the same
today was my first time riding a dirt bike with a clutch, ot was my friends new bike and i did great due to confidence and a little teaching from youtube. thanks alot everyone and keep riding!
how to use a clutch the fun way, step 1 get in some dirt, step 2 put it in first, step 3 pull in the clutch and open the throttle wide open, and step 4 dump the clutch and have fun!
i love watching a kid tryin to learn the clutch its funny i remember when i learhed the clutch it takes some practice wait till u will have to clutch fast when your turning on a track so can go faster
i am looking for a dirtbike i am a begginer i was thinking of a kawasaki or a yamaha 2011 i forget the other part but have any tips. I am 5'11. 140 pounds. If weight or height matters or anything
That is exactly what I was trying to explain, but he has since moved on since making this video. He rides a xr80 and 100 as well as a xr650 when I run beside him. The clutch has been mastered.
That's great stuff! My little guy is four and I can't wait to get him on a bike. Watching that brought me back to my first ride. It's a freedom that can't be replaced!!!

My first bike was a 1979 rm60 first thanks to my father we love you and miss you. Keep up the good work little guy before you know it you'll be on a street bike vruuuuum :)
Nice work .. quick learner and good teacher.. Hope he is still into it.. great sport.
That's the spirit! Who care about how many aftermarket parts you have? It's all about having fun, and making yourself better, no matter when you're starting. Respect.
For like 2 years ago I barely knew how to use the clutch and today im rebuilding 2 and 4 stroke engins and im 15 now, well done boy!:)
well done man, I learnt with my dad sitting on the back of the bike and me on the front and him reaching around and showing me what to do with the clutch lever, that was on his full size bike when I was about 10. Thank you for posting this video. "PATIENCE IS KING."

i remmeber the first ride ill never forget. dirt biking is the best hobby i ever took up its a mind free-er out in the woods
Man if I would have learned on a beutiful bike like that.... that kid is lucky to have such nice parents.
that Suzuki is such a premium bike compared to others its age and size. That rider sure has outgrown the little red one.
reminds me of learning my first time. only thing was i was 15 and my bike was a 23 year old xr600. lol good times lots of pain but good times. now im actually pretty good i race and now i ride a ktm 520 =) keep it up all young riders.

i learned to clutch at the age of 9 i think, i was riding a honda CRF80F and 100F and i must say it wasnt easy, but it takes some time and when u know it, its just in ur head and its really easy when u learned it
i bought a cr 85 this summer, would coast start at first because 2 strokes are hard to use the clutch and after about a week i never ever stalled it!
I remember when i was teaching my cousin to work the clutch. Only took about 4 tries. But i forgot to tell him to pull the clutch in when you hit the brakes. Yeah didn't go so well, lol, good times.
He should keep at it. first time i rode a bike with clutch i stalled twice then found it pretty easy it's all about starting and stopping really.
Wow awesome video and great work teaching him
lol... too good,, the suspense from the beginning is great.
Just got the 9 year old a 125 chineeeeeese import..too big for him at the mo, (need to see if he's interested) but I'm going down the enclosed video road..with a twist.. straight into the humps & bumps

It is about 130miles east of Vancouver, BC on Highway 3 near Manning Park.

@xL3gendzzz Your right. But you should only do that when you are on a low cc 4 stroke or you'll flip. TRUST ME.
star in the making!
