Comapred to how expensive Zafiro Anejo apparently is, they pretty much got the bottle for free or next to it. I like how the muchachos have trays of shot glasses at the ready and are nearby in the event a bottle of tequila suddenly materializes..
What if that's a whole separate job, they get paid whatever an hour to stand and wait for alcohol to be available to serve
@@saltystudios8313 I guess if I had that kind of money and people were willing to be paid to stand around all day and be a shot glass caddy, I would absolutely hire a squadron of them!
Eladio's henchman nodded before they opened it which means he already vetted the box and knew it was alcohol, they already were planning a celebration party, so it makes sense that they would have the muchachos ready
If you owned that mansion and that pool you're telling me you wouldn't have a fully stocked bar next the pool buddy
@@AJ0223 Yes, I would absolutely have a twelve cabanas specifically filled to capacity with obscure tequilas, mescals and pulque. I just don't know if I'd have muchachos standing by 24/7 to serve me on a whim. Eh, maybe I would :p
Gus is beyond disgusted with that hug 🤣🤣His hatred for the cartel was almost to much to hide
At first I thought that Zafiro añejo would be a fictitious brand of pisco, due to the fact that Gustavo Fring was a Chilean character and it seemed impossible that Don Eladio would find it so special that someone gave him a bottle of tequila.
Its probably costs thousands of dollars
@@pretzels713 yeah, you're probably right. However, they showed that don Eladio doesn't care about the cost of the gifts through the t-shirt scene, he clearly loved the cheap t-shirt from the first time he saw it.
@@1vezleien1libro well because he likes showmanship as shown when he told Bolsa that after Lalo brought the car and money. Hector tried to with the Sabrosito bobble head but it didn’t help that Gus showed him by bringing in more money that was more organized than Hector’s rubber band bundles
Gustavo didn’t lie when he said Jesse was an addict and he must be sober to work. He used that truth against eladio
Imagine if Don Eladio's henchman was feelin a little extra paranoid that day and decided to vet the drink for more inspection..
I think the fact that Jessie's cook went so well put everyone off guard
It was a delayed reaction anyway. Took about ten minutes before everyone started collapsing.
@@saintroddy probably would have been more like 30. It seems like a neurotoxin. It probably wouldn't kick in until it began digesting.
Or was trying to quit drinking and left early
Fun fact this drink isn’t real because no company wanted to show people drinking their product and then immediately dying a few minutes later so breaking bad had to make their own drink
Not even Sammy Hagar?
I enjoy Don Julio Anejo. If they had used Don Julio Anejo, I would still be buying the brand. Probably because I know that there was no poison, no deaths and that it was all fiction..but that is just me.
I don't get why Eladio was so impressed by a 1000 dollar tequila. Like dude could buy a bottle every minute and still it wont bring his networth down significantly
Unexpected, that's why.
Lalo got him a ferrari.
Fun Fact: Don Eladio is Manny from Scarface.
And Hector is Alberto, the hitman that Tony shot for wanting to kill the journalist’s wife and kids
Thanks Captain Obvious 😊
@@focusone34 this wasn’t obvious to me at all, I’m just starting to see the resemblance
Wow I didn’t notice. He was much slimmer in scareface. But yeah the face is unchanged.
@@Wolf-wc1js Juan Bolsa was also a very minor character in Malcolm in the Middle which obviously starred Bryan Cranston.
Ahh, out of all these years I've finally found an editing mistake from Breaking Bad! Pause exactly at 03:19 as he goes to take the Shot Glass from Jesse, the shot glass is half full at 3:19, same with everyone else's glass - then 1 second later in the next shot 03:21 - the shot glass is full! Looks like the Actor must of spilled the first one :D
Also why do the waiters have a tray of shot glasses all ready to fill, when the contents of the box is not known until it's opened?
@@MathewTizard Looks like the servants/guard knew already. Eladio looked at the guard who gave him a nod. Looks like the guard already inspected the package.
@@blusafe1 good eyes!
Not an editing mistake, but a set dressing one: in the season5 episodes in the TravelWire shop some of the tourism brochures have visible 2011 dates on them
That poor production designer. They must have cutted of his hand
"If you spill a drop, I'll cut off your hand........Come on, hurry up!" The pressure!
8:47 Saul's suit is rumpled in the back and plain in the front, reflecting his own personality. I love those details.
Thank you! I was looking for a compilation of these clips just last week!
I like how he gave that "you know my suspicion" look and Gus drunk some first
He said "if it's safe then you got nun to worry about" with no words
The blue color is really appealing👍
It is an appealing shade of blue. Almost a sky blue. Very tranquil, very calming. Like a gentle wave on a peaceful beach. I think they call it Cerulean blue. Cerulean blue is like a gentle wave.
Eladio - It's too good to share.
Gus - NOOO YOU'LL MESS EVERYTHING UP.
Also I wonder if they kept using the same bottle.
What do you mean with "kept using the same bottle?"
@@aclosh2983 In the production of all the scenes it was used in. I would guess, yes.
They likely had 2 or 3 duplicates Incase one broke
That way you don't have to shutdown the scene all day while a prop guy makes a new one
i like how Eladio praises Jesse and degrades his previous cook
@Steve Wolcott exactly, the chemist boasts about having degrees and stuff
Rough day for that chemist,
Gets roasted by jesse
Gets roasted by Eladio
Dies
2:47. He says " ill cut off your hand". Using the spanish word for hand. MANO, people think mano a mano means " man to man, like in combat , man to man combat , but it means HAND to HAND combat.
Mano can also mean brother, or very good friend, someone you can trust, in portuguese, so yeah, the expression is correct, man to man
Even though he may seem vulnerable and not caring he is not stupid he looks at his guard first before opening and makes gus drink it first just shows he smart enough to know that he is always a target even by those who are in his inner circle
How much does a bottle costs in universe? I mean, Jimmy was able to buy one before being super rich, which implies it is expensive, but don Eladio threatened to cut the waiter's hand off if he spilled a drop, which implies it is SUPER expensive.
Yeah I always wondered too
I think they are different drinks añejo is probalbly the rare and expensive type whereas the bottle Jimmy bought is a cheaper version, for example the bottle looks different compared to the one in the bar or Don Eladios (golden logo on the bottle instand of pure glass for example) so maybe Don Eladios was super expensive and Jimmys was less expensive
Based on the fact that they were partially inspired by Hardy Perfection Cognac, which are also relatively rare, about 8700 and only 300 were ever made, with each being one of 5 themes
Well if you use the bar scene at $50 a shot. A shot is 2 oz and the bottle is 750 ml which is roughly 25 oz it would break down to about $625 for the bottle.
@@jamesfair9751 regular shots are 1-1.5 oz per shot 2oz would be a double shot in most places
The way Eladio's face changes, waves his finger "None for you!"
🤣
I can't even imagine being in a position like this, having everyone's attention completely locked on me. I'd have a nervous breakdown. Also i love how Fring pauses right before he drinks the shot. He's savoring the moment, memorizing Eladios expression.
From the wiki: "It was created after attempts to find a product placement fell through after being told that the scene contained people dropping dead minutes after drinking their placed product.'
i wish brands had the foresight to see it in better call saul cause i would TOTALLY buy it if i could, maybe even with gus's special mix
I see Eladios charming smile whenever Lalo smiles.
Damn I just realized the guy Saul and Kim scam at the bar is the same guy who’s car gets blown up by Walt
at 12:45 the genius behind this transition; kim consoling jimmy, pouring him shots, yet slowly fading along with the color, till jimmy is there by himself, alone, all in black and white
@0:42 Mans was STILL salty about getting shown up at his own lab earlier.
Yeah. He's a severe hater.
exactly🤣🤣🤣 Bro's salty jesse owned him hard
Don Eladio and Gus hugging was the most awkward hug in television history.
I totally oversaw how many times Zafiro Anejo Tequila was featured in Better Call Saul, great detail!
Steven Bauer just loves speaking spanish, he enjoys every word that he's saying, I'm learning spanish and I really sound happier when I say it
Imagine pouring in a drink with the danger of getting your hands cut off when you spill a drop. In really small glasses.
I love how the charming performance hits pause, while he waits for Gustavo to drink his
Even after all that, there is still an undercover suspicion, he hasn’t forgotten how bitter he is
Don: we’ll drink this some other time
Gus: welp i failed
That would’ve just a) killed him later, b) prevented Gus and Jesse from potentially being poisoned, or c) all of the above.
@@lionsden5123 who's to say it wouldn't have sat in a wine cellar till kingdom come tho
Though he doesn’t look the part he is a very cautious man. I don’t think he would’ve drank it without seeing Gus drink some first
Eladio: I don't like tequila, gustavo
Gus: nooooooo
Possibly the greatest marketing strategy to sell a tequila...ever.
Not a real brand.
The cap of the bottle fell from Jimmy's Cocobolo table in Season 6 opening episode
I love the unspoken words between eladio and gus. eladio standing there waiting for gus to hug him, and then eladio waiting for gus to drink first. really shows how important combo was to the operation.
One of the few things they missed is a real tequila drinker like Don Eladio would never do shots of fine tequila, he would sip it.
I think if they thought about it they probably thought Don Eladio is a guy who likes to appear cultured but is not as educated or sophisticated as he thinks he is
I think in season 6 the price of a single bottle of the fictitious tequila Zafiro Añejo is revealed to be around 500$, which would explain why the mark is so shocked to see the restaurant bill.
Damn, BB invented this untouchable off label stuff
Fun fact: When buying tequila, it's not usually the drink that's expensive. It's the bottle.
Even though it's completely unreasonable for the following to have happened, I think it'd be funny for the bottle Saul left behind in season 6 to eventually be the one Gus used to poison Eladio's men
1:23 - back in 2004, Nacho was having a conversation with Eladio right here on this table.
I like how in the BB scene, Don Eladio makes a toast but waits for Gus to drink before him to make sure it wasn't poisoned.
Imagine if they actually came out with that certain brand of tequilla in real life😂
release season 6 early PLEASE
Don Eladio roasted the crap out of his chemist
Anejo is the darkest of the 3 tequilas (blanco, repasado, anejo). That sure looks pretty blanco (white/clear) to me....
Something that looks White but is incredibly dark?
I wonder if that's a metaphor...
True. "Anejos" are usually golden, amber or light brown in color
Am I the only person who have ever picked up that skyler is the one who pours the tequila in bcs. Time stamp 5:20
Definitely a strong episode, even to face off which is my favorite. Giancarlo's speech when the entire cartel is dead by the pool is amazing
3:34
Gus on the surface: I will now calmly drink this pleasant alcoholic beverage.
Gus internally: Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck
I know they had to create a fake brand to use since no one wanted to be associated with the cursed tequila, but if I could afford it and it existed, I would definitely buy it.
Ken would be the type of guy to run a millionaire mindset Instagram page
The second scam is pointless. They didn't have the expensive tequila for free. The price was having to listen to the broker's bullcrap.
It was never about the price. I was about showing a low lvl scammer how its done.
Comapred to how expensive Zafiro Anejo apparently is, they pretty much got the bottle for free or next to it. Also so long as the scammer occasionally talked about sports or cars or whatnot during the evening instead of just talking about his "great financial offer", it probably was still a nice evening for them.
To drink fifty-dollar shots of aged tequila, I would pretend to listen to his crap.
It was not about the money it was about the thrill
Like Howard said, they get off on it
I’d like to think Ken, a few years later, saw the Better Call Saul commercials and put together what happened to him lol
Its just crazy that Gustavo was planning his revenge way back in Better Call Saul and he finally executed his plan in Breaking Bad, so what like 5, 6 years?
01:30 Don Eladio is very happy they are friends once again
Am happy for them hopefully this time it goes well
Such a wholesome reunion 😇 the world needs more positivity like this
The awkward moment when Eladio keeps the drink in his wine cellar as a token and does not drink it...
This guys car was really nice, really hope it lives a long and fulfilling life. I am so glad he got a 99% discount on his cheque, no wonder he was asking if it was correct.
I remember when they had Zafiro Anejo in Better Call Saul and I had a nerdgasm basically I was like oh HELL yeah! That's the same kind of tequila that Gus gave to Don Eladio when he took out the entire cartel in one day armed only with his brain basically.
Nice guy to share his expensive present with the whole gang. Muy generoso!
Gus's revenge scene was Breaking Bad's Red Wedding
I would likely compare The Red Wedding to the Prison murders 🤷🏾
That drink is cursed
I always wondered why this man made so many millions of dollars but still lived in the same house after 20 years
Perhaps he has other houses, and this house with the pool is just a common place for cartel meetings
What's wrong with only living in the same house lol? If I was a billionare I would invest most of my spending money into refurbishing one home property.
It's a nice house
A series so special that even a Bottle is a cast of this epic saga..
8:49 “you gotta stop and smell the roses!” There’s an episode in season 6 called “Wine and Roses” Jimmy is talking about roses whilst holding a beverage.
Who would have thought that "Manolo" from "Scarface" was not only still alive and kicking, but - HEY! - he's like wine! - IMPROVES WITH TIME! :) Steven Bauer! Great performance, man! ...and what a career! He's a living Museum of Cinema at its finest - and with a SMILE THAT IS CONTAGIOUS! :) :)
PS. All the Best to you, Steven and have a nice day everybody! ;) :)
Is this ken guy who gets finessed by jimmy and kim the same guy who gets his red bmw burnt up by walt ?
I like the call back to Breaking Bad, but they really devalued the special nature of Zafirro Añejo. Don Eladio made it seem like it was some super rare, hard to get, extremely expensive tequila. Then in BCS, some bar has it and Jimmy waltzes into the office with a full bottle. I dunno.
True
The series happen like 4 years apart. I assume it went out of production and prices skyrocketed in the mean time
Thanks for this
I did not know about this reference .
I’ve had drinks/shots with people from many cultures, but never seen anyone put their empty shot glass over their Adam’s apple before; one guy in the background of the pool scene does.
I think the extra was just holding the shot glass in that location after he swallowed the shot. I don't think it had any meaning.
3:18 im dead I love the way he said that
My dad thought I was nuts when I said I recognised the bottle while we were watching Better Call Saul.
I had to show him the first clip to prove him wrong
That's the clearest añejo I've seen. Unless it's a cristalino, but it would be branded as such.
