Profar SIGNS With Braves, Everyone Hates The Dodgers, Alonso Blue Jays Drama, Bregman Back To Hou?

  • The Braves have signed Jurickson Profar & I LOVE it for the Braves & don't understand why other teams didn't step up sooner? Everyone hates the Dodgers, but is it misdirected anger? YES! I'll tell you why. PLUS, Bregman could go back to the Astros & I think will and Pete Alonso to the Blue Jays gained momentum on Thursday until Blue Jays "insiders" came in and tried to squash it.

      Why? Cause they have the resources to buy the best players on the market. If you want to find the best organization you should look at the Rays, the A’s back in the day. I don’t think it takes much brain matter to sign Ohtani or the other superstars.

      If that were true u wouldn't have to sign so many players from other teams. If u want to say "we have made incredibly smart business deals that allow us to have a payroll higher than 26 teams total revenue" than yes I agree

      But the Mets are closer to the brave when it comes to being a destination for free agents than they are to the Dodgers.

      @carterhawkins113 Not referring to the farm systems in this case...
      The Dodgers won the Word Series and found a few hiccups along the way.
      This winter they did what ever they had to do to make sure 2025 would be an easier path to a championship, nothing is a guarantee but I don't see a Dodgers Mets rematch in the NLCS based on what these 2 teams have done so far this off season.

      Disagree. Other teams are looking for specific and strategic pickups for their rosters. Dodgers are taking talent off the table off the table just because they can. You can't play 15 all stars every day. These guys could be being showcased all over the map, with huge fan bases rallying around them. Each team used to be defined by their core group of stars. Now I couldn't tell you who leads half of mlb teams .. and any stars they do have are just waiting their turn to run for LA or NY* now. The sport isn't in a good place at the moment.. not promising to be a good product this year. (40 year fan .. and I live in LA!)

    You need to create an incentive system for winning and consequences for not building competitive teams, then bring the entire league under one tv streaming service so no one team can dominate the shared market. Honestly, that should be able to get ratified by all the owners as your not putting an ceiling or floor on spending so each team is able to decide its own future

    • @davemartin5735
      @davemartin5735 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Jim… place your bets now while the odds are good! In my opinion, the signing of Profar just made the Braves chances of winning the World Series just as good as everyone else’s, especially if Acuna Jr comes back 100% healthy, and AA is also talking about signing a starting pitcher and maybe a reliever as well. Also wouldn’t be surprised if he replaced Arcia at SS at some point.
    Bichette’s chances of making it to Atlanta? Thoughts? You already know I think you’re the best in the game, hands down. Appreciate you brother!

    A trend that seems to be happening more often is teams who offered insane contracts to players just to get them and then within a 1-3 years trying to salary dump cuz they cant afford them or realized it wasn't a good deal after all. There are downsides to spending more and bidding wars. It can spiral out of control very fast if not in check. The next Ohtani or Soto to pop up will want a billion. Who is going to offer a billion besides a few teams?

  • @willpina
    @willpina 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Jim, don't trust anything that Heyman says, specially when it involves a Boras client.
    Also, no other team outside of both NY teams, the Blue Jays and Red Sox can spend like the Dodgers can.
    In order to make deferrals, the team still needs to pay into a bond for an amount that will cover the deferred payments.
    I like your line up for the Braves with Profar, I would probably swap Arcia and Kelenic at the bottom.
    One last thing, both Kelenic and DeLaCruz have 1 option left, so there's no need to DFA them.

    We know that top players want to play on winning teams. That eliminates 20+ teams every year. It's an uphill battle to win over top talent regardless of how much money is on the table if you are not in contention to win. Lets not pretend that teams other than the top 5 had any chance at Ohtani, Soto, Sasaki and several others. We know where they were going.

    I think the expanded playoffs have shown owners that the teams that spend the most don’t win the majority of the time. This last year was an exception but what is their incentive to spend? They have the mentality of just barely putting a competitive team to make the playoffs and then see what happens. We need a salary floor more than we need a ceiling.

The $4 billion in appreciation of the Cubs doesn't do anything for paying for players or putting profit in the teams account. Back in the late 90s and early 2000’s the Yankees were the evil empire, now the Dodgers have taken over that title. Some ownership groups are willing to spend what it takes, some teams that can spend will not spend. Then there are some owners that should not be allowed to have an MLB franchise. I’m not sure I agree with deferred money. MLB needs to get its shit together and create a little more parody between the big markets and small markets, but the MLB players Association will never agree to any sort of cap. I don’t have a good answer how to make small market teams and big market teams have an equal chance. Football has big market and small market teams, but they all seem to have a chance.

      How is that their fault they got the last big tv deal? Thanks to us fans for the high ratings and highest attendance 12 yrs in a row and the biggest away attendance is what made that deal possible. They still have to pay huge luxury tax and still have to subsidize other teams with profit sharing. All that deferred money still has to be paid. The Dodgers just better at the business side of baseball.🤷‍♂

      Dodgers have a massive business advantage over almost every other team by virtue of their location, hence the TV deal. Solution is to have all 29 other teams move to LA/NY, but obviously that is not good for the sport so the league must hold teams to certain regions/locations. Other solution is to balance the playing field by preventing teams with permanent economic advantages to also translate to permanent on field advantages via salary cap

    • @Mistr_Anderson
      @Mistr_Anderson 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ Location? All sports teams started in the Northeast. It was a disadvantage anywhere else other than there a half century ago. lol Now it's an advantage? hahaha The reason the Dodgers got the last big tv deal was becauz of it's HUGE fanbase all over the country and now world and their championship legacy. Same with Cowboys (not in LA orNY) same with Cubs (not in LA or NY) Same with Greenbay ( not inLA or NY) Same with Kansas City (not in NY or LA) Same with Warriors (not in LA or NY) No one even knew where Golden State Warriors played until they became champions. Stop it.

    Dodgers can spend and sign players to their hearts content but they should not be able to use deferrals to avoid having to pay increased amounts for exceeding the luxury tax threshold. Deferrals should count against the current year for luxury tax purposes. Same would apply to all teams but it may impact the Dodgers willingness to give out the number of contracts that they do. If they still are willing to pay the additional luxury tax, then more power to them.

    • @afluffybuffalo
      @afluffybuffalo 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Cry harder, deferrals aren’t the problem here. It’s not just the dodgers, blue jays and Santander 2/3 of his contract. Burnes deferred his contract, Mets have deferred Maena contract. Problems are the owners not spending money and crying poor and trying to “break even” and letting franchises cheat and get away with it and oh here you can keep it.
