Your comment "Elvis got a bad rap"...really brought something home for me. It is identical to what one of Muhammad Ali's personal friends said in front of me few years ago.
I was standing in Muhammad Ali's family living room in Louisville Kentucky and a man that was giving tour of the home and is caretaker for Ali family history brought up Elvis' name after conversation of Memphis came up.
(I didn't bring up Elvis.. he did).
He was personal friends with the Ali family and was also a Soul singer back in the 1960s. He knew James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Hank Ballard, The Sweet Inspirations.... all those greats.
He has went on to become a personal friend of mine.
    Great guy.
Anyway, I will never forget after I mentioned Memphis, him saying - "Elvis. Man. (Shaking his head) that is one cat that got a bad rap over the years. He was a great dude and a great artist"
I said - "Brother. Say that again so anyone else in the room that don't know the truth can hear you"
Great commentary again. And one of my favorite songs from Elvis during this era of his career. The studio version is great also if you haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.

Thank you for your honesty.. The moves, belts jumpsuit , the band,He begun all of that and more. I also Love MJ and seen all his performances and mannerisms, and he always said that he learned from the best and added more and i know he was talking about Elvis, but he really never gave him much credit, and i think its sad that he didnt. Even the iconic Move frezzing on his toes is from Elvis, Elvis did it first and much more, So i agree with you.

There were three Sports that Elvis loved. He loved playing football and played quite often. He loved karate and practiced every day, he was a black belt. And he loved boxing. He loved Muhammad Ali. He would go down to Muhammad Ali's training gym to see him and they would often play box, they were always hugging and laughing. Muhammad Ali loved Elvis just as much as Elvis love him.

This is my favorite story of Elvis, if you choose to read it. www.iheartelvis.net/general-elvis-stuff/elvis-july-20th-1975-the-touching-story-of-elvis-and-the-little-blind-girl. Elvis actually wound up paying for the girls surgery so she could see.

Great song. I think in this case the studio takes are more dynamic. He did this a bit faster because it was live but I will still take it to the bank. Elvis was the best interpreter of music I have ever heard. You are spot on we don’t know shit. You always crucify the great ones especially at their weakest. The older media waited 18 years to destroy this man out of jealousy for what he was able to accomplish. It was he can’t sing, his music is the devil’s music, he is on drugs, he is too heavy, he is racist, whatever. It still happens today, unfortunately. I will say it again and again. ELVIS IN HIS PRIME WOULD DOMINATE MUSIC TODAY. There is no entertainer who can truly touch him. Sorry!

Well said. Elvis, like all creative people, subsumed all that was around him--ALL, from gospel, country, blues, and ended up melinding all that had entered his creative DNA into what was then called rockabilly, soon called rock, and he was quickly and forevermore crowned the King. He never copied any one person; rather, he put it all together and created something so unique it set the standard for all future performers. And, yes, I never took my eyes off of him during the one Elvis concert I saw, not for one second.

Thank you so much for playing my all time favorite song. You must listen to the album version. There are more instruments, etc... The writer of this song, late country singer Eddie Rabbit, had every intention of recording this but somehow Elvis heard it and fell in love with it and asked Eddie if he could record it. He said as badly as he wanted to record it, who could say no to the King? Later, Eddie was happy with his decision as I was. It's perfect in every way and it's been my favorite song my entire life and will always be. Thanks again for playing my request. You really need to listen to the album version. It'll really blow you away!

Amen to you brother...fills my heart to hear your commentary and observations. Elvis was a gift to the world... A fusional artist, a man who
Blended his love of all things that impacted him. There was no divide, no fragmentation of unity. Elvis was like a lighthouse, he shone a light on the music that so inspired him and in turn brought light to many of those black artists that weren't given the respect their talent and music so richly deserved. He really was ahead of his time, and one of the most misunderstood individuals of the 20th century. Your videos are changing this perception for those that were never told the truth, or in a lot of cases believed the falsehoods and rumours. For that I am eternally grateful to you sir, thank you. The road is long but a little further travelled.

Great reaction, very insightful. It's amazing how many of Elvis' contemporary artists did not understand him or his musical tastes...he never ever wanted to be just a rock star. From day one at Sun Records in 1953 when he recorded a demo for his mother he stated he sang all kinds of music and he didn't sound like nobody else. He craved the challenge of different genres...take a look at his flawless interpretation of My Way from 1973, it's rumored Sinatra said "well I guess it's his now" after hearing it. th-cam.com/video/ixbcvKCl4Jc/w-d-xo.html

Your words are Church, my Friend. Thank you for understanding the true artist he will always be. Thank you for being honest and true for the respect that is conveyed as others need to school themselves of what they do not know or rather, don't understand. Elvis once said on stage before singing the song, Walk A Mile In My Shoes, he said, You never stood in that man's shoes or saw things through his eyes or stood and watched with helpless hands while the heart inside you dies, so help your brother along the way, no matter where he starts, for the same God that made you, made him too, these men with broken hearts. Elvis was and Entertainer and he was human. He was passionate of being both. Thank you, sir. Well done.

It seems like back in the day people thought it was ok to down grade black people and belittle them, Now days people are doing the same to white people and they want to pretend like Elvis stole all of his moves and music from black people. Elvis grew up with black people and attended their churches and of course he would have gotten some of the rhythm and things like that from them, however he put it all together and gave it his own style. He really didn't have much education in music and didn't take acting classes like most movie actors, but he was able to do it all, that my friend is someone with talent and perseverance. You don't make it as big as he did pretending like you have talent, you either have it or you don't. It shouldn't make any difference what color your skin is, all races have contributed to the vast selection of music we have now. Elvis was that rare breed who had natural talent in everything he did and he should be remembered for that.

I feel sorry for the people that miss out and never have that awakening. Your reactions and your knowledge let's me have a renewed appreciation of the one, and the only Elvis. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Elvis Presley all from past generations. What are the artist today, that has that caliber of talent? Are there any today? I don't know and would, if you will, give us your thoughts on that. Also, I just do not get rap, I don't hear the talent and it might gave a good beat but after a while one song sounds like another. And the words that are used, well I'll end with that. Thank you.

This live version is from a soundboard mix which you do not get the full musical arrangements such as the drums being mixed out. The master recording is so much clearer and priceless. I'm glad you pointed out how his influence is all over the music world and how MJ got his look from him. Others don't like to admit that fact.

I had In the Ghetto stuck in my head the other day. All these years I didn't realize it was an Elvis song. I have part of my parent's record collection and I haven't ever had an inkling to put Elvis on. Anyways, looking that song up led me into a rabbit hole of these reaction videos... I not once watched a reaction video unless my son makes me watch one he is into about video games. That is when I came across you just watching video after video of In the Ghetto. After seeing many comments through these I then took the next night for If I Can Dream. I have discovered there were several songs I loved growing up that I just didn't realize was Elvis. Always heard the legend of him as common knowledge and I dismissed him as overblown. Now that I am learning how he put himself out there to recognize that black lives matter I have gained such a respect of him and I am wanting to learn more! It is fun going through this discovery process with you the last few days because I am in my own process with him as well. I just subscribed to my first reaction channel!

The thing about history is that it is hard to place yourself in it. We are quick to judge by current standards without the ability to place things in context. Pioneers are called pioneers for a reason. Hence the phrase, "You had to be there".

Studio version is slower an much nicer I think. Elvis did speed up a few of his slower songs when doing them live. Glad you are finding the love of Elvis and I love your honest comments.

If you get the chance check out Heartbreak Hotel from the Dorsey Brothers Stage Show. Elvis is 21 and just on the brink of major stardom. You can see why he shook up the 50's and influenced many to come.

I've been listening to Elvis for a while but I feel like I'm going through a journey for the first time with you my friend. You may not get many requests for Sylvia, but I recommend it highly

You are on top of it dude. You are by far the best at reactions. And not just because it's someone I grew up with (Elvis) but you are bringing other things to light that I have never thought about.

Thank you for noticing how others took from him the style the fashion I've often said if I had the guts I dress like Prince who really took it from Elvis from Purple Rain
