I’ve never had a problem walking out of a salon. One stylist was so rough with me that I asked her, “Have you mistaken me for someone you have a problem with or something?” She said, “NO I’M JUST HAVING A BAD DAY!”.
So I pulled the cape off, & walked out with wet hair.

One stylist didn't talk to me at all, just asked me what I wanted and that's it.
When I was done and had to pay I asked the owner if that's the lady's normal behaviour or if she just had a bad day. He called her over and asked me to tell her me complaints, in a very agressive tone.
When I tried to explain, that she didn't even greet me or talked at all they both got so mad, telling me they don't have time to greet the clients.
While I love seeing a boss having they employees back, that was just weird and I never went there again.

Love Judy D! She has another video on her channel talking about her hair journey. A few years ago, she went to a stylist who left bleach on her hair for 3 hours and a bunch of it melted off, so she spent a long time trying to get her hair healthy again. The video here is still one of only a few on her channel that focus on her hair, and I can't really blame her for not trusting a lot of stylists

The client, a well-known youtuber, received a treatment to straighten her hair, perhaps keratin or some treatment cream, and the color you see is the one she already brought because it was not a color appointment. Let me tell you that in Latin America, treatments for chemically damaged and / or bleached hair are a "panacéa", and they seal the product used with a wet hair straightener. I don't know if that is a correct way to treat brittle hair. There are stylists who say that this causes more damage in the long run ... Always good to see your videos, thanks.

Eating lunch and leaving bleach to cook, washing their own hair in front of clients, bitching about you behind your back, leaving me to wait 40min for a booked appointment, telling me it's my fault that she has to run up the stairs 6 times to check my bleach, using cold water to rinse hair, convincing me the toner colour they picked was wonderful, even though I hated it, bleach burning my hair off and then blaming me for having level 5 hair, i could go on, but I won't. Oh, not washing towels after use but just drying them on rails or tumble dryer, absolutely disgusting 😑.

I can honestly say I haven't had a decent salon experience. Fancy salons or cheap smartstyle/super cuts. All the same. Always end up doing what they want and never what I ask.. even with pictures and explanation of how I style and wear my hair. Last time was back in June. Asked for a Bob... left with a freakin pixie. Like Halle Berry pixie short. Been growing my hair out ever since. Never again. I will figure it out myself before I go back to a salon.

My worst salon experience wasn't during the appointment- it was months after. The cut was great, the treatment to repair damage from a previous color worked great, the people were engaging (though the owner telling me that I shouldn't adopt a kid because it might be addicted to drugs after I said I might have to adopt my nephews and neice due to family drama was so out of line the Space station had to perform maneuvers to avoid it.) I was going to go back in a couple months because my hair grows slow.
Then? Call, after call, after call asking me why I hadn't come back yet. I was growing my hair out from a bob - I didn't need every three weeks. Text messages, emails, voicemails... "what can we do for you? When will you make your next apointment? Is it the price?"
Never. I'll never make another appointment at your salon. I blocked the phone number and told the friend I'd gone with [her birthday treat] that I'm never going back.

They mention a smell of chocolate. In my country there is a treatment used to straighten hair that use it (or at least they claim it's has chocolate).I think maybe it similar or the same, because people who do it gets the same results (shiny, soft and straight hair). It's a huge dose of moisturizer and doesn't use some chemical (formol). But you dry most of the hair before using the iron. I think in English is called Chocolate Brazilian Blowout (escova progressiva de chocolate in Portuguese, sorry if I'm mistaken).

    • @Indahowse

Well once a hairdressing salon went into the back and "discussed" what they would do with my hair
I had asked to go blonde and had an appointment the day before to discuss my needs and see if it was a realistic expectation etc.
Well after bleaching my hair and thinking they had gone into the back to mix up toner or blonde dye, 2 of the hairdressers decided by themselves to make me a ROSE GOLD. Suddenly I found myself in the chair with Rose gold being applied to my newly bleached hair and it was pretty much too late to do anything about it

I go to a pretty high end salon. I’ve been going to them since they started out and they have grown immensely over the years. I follow my one master stylist and he is perfection. But I had a few not so good experiences with one master stylist. She had the type of schedule that has people in between so when I was waiting for my hair dye to process, she would start her next client. Which is fine, but then from there her attention to you would decline and she would seem to be overwhelmed every time and rush and most times her assistant would finish you out. Honestly, that’s okay sometimes, but I’m paying for the stylist, not for two people to work on one simple task. 🤷‍♀️. I was fed up after the last balayage she did because she flat out did not listen to what I wanted to achieve. If she knew it wasn’t going to come out as I was thinking, she should have said it. Needless to say I ended up dying my hair back to cherry red at an Ulta which was half the price and the girl was so incredibly nice and did an amazing job. She was honest and so personable. Sometimes some high end salons have a few bad apples where they think they are the shit and think they are Superman and can do 10 clients at once.

Also recently I've been going to the salon as I cut my dreads off and I really appreciate that even though where I went is definitely not top end the staff were friendly, informative, and since I wasnt sure what I wanted they discussed options and choices and it was really nice. I had that happen once. I went in to get a pedi and mani at a new place that opened in town. The woman doing my pedi started talking crap about me, and all my tattoos. Literally saying I must be a gangster or prostitute. The other woman told her to stop and she was being rude. I then told her, in Spanish, that I actually I am a network engineer, wife, and mother of three. I also told her that in the future it would do them well not to gossip about the customer, especially if they do not know whether they speak your language. The looks of shock on their face were hilarious, and the other lady telling her to stop said "I told you!" I did record the conversation as she was talking crap. So, when they were done I went to the manager and showed her the video. She was pissed, didn't charge me, and gave me a gift certificate for my next mani and pedi. I never saw the one that was talking crap there again, and I still go there.

Hi Hair Buddha, I feel very sorry for the lady who got her hair done in this salon. I personally understand very well that she is afraid of going to the salon in general. Finding a trustworthy hair dresser took me over 30 years, but I finally found one. I have fine and sensitive hair myself and nobody should be shamed because of their hairtype. I think it is very unprofessional to let somebody wait, and talk behind their literal backs in a foreign language in order to make fun of them. That is a big no- no!

    • @joane24
      @joane24 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I had so many hairdressers comment on, criticize, or straight mock my fine hair! (They're naturally that way, no bleach, no dye, no damage, they're just so fine and delicate).
      It's truly disheartening.

    Yes this !!!
I always allow a buffer between clients! Best case scenario I have 15 minutes before my next clinet arrives to collect my self, worst case I make my next clinet a cuppa and get them comfortable, I always assure them that I allow some wiggle room in each apt and that the 10 minute wait will not at all compromise their service ... most of the time the client leaves pleased because they have a little bit of extra time and their service is completed early, in reality I book my appointments accordingly like that :)

Took my son for a haircut at a barber and the person who was supposed to be cutting his hair disappeared. The owner (?) started bad mouthing them throwing a tantrum. When the AWOL barber comes back, a full scale slanging match started. He eventually got his hair cut but I never ever took him back there. By the way, Budda you rock my friend ☺️

The last time I went to the salon

I showed her a picture with views from the front, back, sides
my hair was below my shoulders

    Dried it
    Paid BIG BUCKS

I have a nearby barber that is run by one guy with one barber chair and I have seen him build the business from the ground up. He has got really good at his job but at the beginning sometimes he would have me waiting 20-30 mins after my appointment time because someone else took a bit too long. I always forgave him because I saw him working so hard and his haircuts were worth the wait.

Went to hair dresser yesterday and NOT happy. $50 for the hair dresser to wash and condition my hair in the sink, only once touching the back of my head at the neck. Shampoo and conditioner left my hair DRYER than it was before I went in. I told her before hand, my hair is a combination of Irish and African, very curly and extremely dry, it can not be treated as one or the other. She didn't listen.
