The process I used to replace the fuel pump in my 2007 nissan versa. Pump had pressure regulator installed in the pump assembly, which is a known cause for these to hard start at times.
This is super helpful! I have a 2010 and sometimes when it is not used for multiple days it cranks and doesn't start until you pump the gas pedal and I think this might be the culprit. Would you recommend the generic pump over the manufacturer's? And what's the name of the tool I would need to remove the lock ring? Thx
I don't know the name of the tool, but a Google search will probably get you that information. As for the hard start, it still does it but not nearly as much. I'm thinking at this point it is a fuel pressure regulator that is bleeding off when it sets for a while. You might want to look into that before changing out the pump. Good luck!
I have the same thing nissan same metal piece too it's still hard to come off I been using that same flat tool and using grips to hammer it has well just like that but still won't open it u can also tell its never been open so it can also be because of that as well any advice?

I probably have to use a hammer but I was able to slide it to the left couple inches so I'm happy about that
How did you take the back seat
Pull up hard on the front of the seat near the retainers. It should release

Can u change just the filter on the pump as them seperatly?
The only fuel filter to my knowledge is a filter sock on he bottom of the pump in the tank. There is no external filter

Yes. No hard start issues anymore. The pressure regulator was definitely the issue.
