very good .well explained for a beginner..Can i ask.... i am having trouble using a pick...it sounds so loud and awkward to strum ,yet yours sounds soft and gentle is there a material and thickness that i should begin with? Thankyou

I use a pick around 1mm thick. The textured grip Jim Dunlop ones are great as they help prevent the pick slipping or twisting in your hand. My strumming analogy is to use the pick as you would a paintbrush to pain a wall with hand firm grip but a relaxed wrist so the pick just brushes over and through the strings. You may have a stiff wrist or be digging in too deep/ too hard with the pick too. Hope this helps!
