Hello Commander. In light of the recent extraterrestrial incursion, this council of nations have convened to approve the activation of the XCOM project. You have been chosen to lead this initiative. To oversee our first- and last- line of defense. Your efforts will have considerable influence on this planet's future. We urge you to keep that in mind as you proceed. Good luck Commander
I know a lot of people were scared when they saw that streak of orange in the sky, but I assure you, no one was more afraid than those of us standing watch at the PLA Rocket Force's early warning center. No one told us that they knew that thing was coming from deep space, and crashing satellites don't make course corrections, so we assumed--no, we were certain--it was a missile. We put our nuclear forces on the highest alert state that night: codes were input, keys were turned, and only flip-up safety covers stood between nervous fingers and the switches that would start the apocalypse. I must have aged five years in the minutes it took course plotting to confirm the object wasn't heading for China. If it was, we might have done the aliens' job for them.
“Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” ― Arthur C. Clarke after playing that dam game to many times I never really gave it much thought, that was until the sky glowed a vibrant orange and the world changed forever who would have known the latter is so much scarier.
“General Quarters, General Quarters, all hands man your battle stations!” A stern voice shot through an intercom. “Seems like another drill.” One man thought as he got out of his sleeping rack. He dipped and weaved around his fellow crew mates who were all hurrying to there stations as he was hurrying to his. He reaches the flight deck and smells the familiar sea breeze he always hated. He never liked the ocean, but yet he was on an aircraft carrier off the coast of Saudi Arabia. Fate was cruel sometimes. “Petty Officer Darin!” yelled a gruffy voice “Yes Chief?” I replied. “Report to the situation room immediately.” Huh, that’s weird, my job is on a flight deck not a briefing room. “What for?” I asked “Aliens.” Cool… aliens. WAIT WHAT?!?
People are going mad. I don't know how else to phrase it, really. The Landberg was moored in Karachi when we heard the news, and the whole crew got up on deck to see for themselves. A wide plume of smoke and fire in the sky, distant and yet impossible to miss. If the radio and the few news channel we had on board told the truth, this was not a mere meteor or asteroid, however those are called, but a spaceship? I still find it hard to believe, but the captain certainly did so. Just as the crew was settling down and talking about this, he came back from his room and said we had to go. That was odd, we had not even unloaded the containers due there yet, but he insisted and said the owner wanted us gone from there. And so we went. That was six hours ago. The ship is now stuck in the harbour's channel, our pilot gone back ashore and leaving us stranded there. The man got mad and threatened us all, so the captain told us to let him go back. At least here we're safe, safer than those who remained moored or ashore at least. There are riots in the city, I don't know who or what or anything, just that people are protesting. They're probably afraid... or angry? This may well have been the spark of a revolution, or not, everything is so confused here. I regret not learning more about this place before, that's for sure... Nobody's covering those events anyways, all the international news anchors are focused on the spaceship and calling in guests to speak about that. And who can blame them? It's mind boggling, and I would be all over that too if we were not here, like this. I guess we'll have to wait and see. The captain said we'd have to set up guard over the whole ship, check around for boarders, and my watch is fast approaching. I just hope that nobody's going to come and try to take us hostage or anything. People have gone mad, and I'm afraid. Extract from the diary of the second mate Yosefine Baader, serving aboard the CMA CGM Landberg.
What a fun concept - to extrapolate from the geopolitical climate and simulate a transition to a space faring civilization to stop and alien invasion you know is coming in a Cixin Liu-esque way. Brilliant concept
Thomas ended his day like any other. Clocking out 3 hours late, taking the second to last bus home and enjoying a nice hot shower. His phone had been buzzing all day. He had just been too busy to check. While still drying the water from his hair, he checked the news. Something about aliens was all over. After skimming the headlines he we switched on his TV. There was shaky footage of some kind of spacecraft having impacted somewhere remote. "I'm real damn tired of living through historic events." Thomas muttered to himself. More annoyed than anything else, Thomas dug through his fridge until his fingers grasped a familiar texture. As he popped open a tallboy, he fell onto the couch. Letting the reporting fill him in on another annoyance.
Hot dang, that "map scale". From planetary surface up to the entire solar system. Can't wait for the next episode and also immediately added the game to my wishlist 🙂
Hi there. My name's Robert. I work at the local radio station. The day was like any other, warm and sunny day, us playing chill music to relax to, broken by a weather forecast or local news every hour. I was sitting by my desk, listening to our station as there was nothing else to do. Suddenly, a slight static could have been heard in my headphones, slowly increasing until the music was completly overtaken by it. I tried reconnecting my headphones, but nothing changed. I asked my colleauge, Stephen, who was a techician, what's the reason of that noise. He said he doesn't know, all equipent was in perfect state, and that there was white noise on every station, some TV channels not working as well. He added, that the whole city is affected by that, but because the phones weren't working either, the news from other towns couldn't reach us. We went to our boss' room. After we told him what's happening, he said we have a free day and should go home before anything worse happens. We thanked him and rushed outside. I stopped by my car and reached my hand into my pocket to grab the keys. Suddenly, a big shadow was casted upon me and the entire parking. At first I thought it was a big cloud, but then I remembered a forecast from like 20 minutes ago, saying that the sky is perfectly clean. I looked up and... The thing I saw... It wasn't a cloud. Not a plane. Not even a blimp. It was something that wasn't made by humans. It was like the Star Destroyer from Star wars combined with an aircraft carrier, but at least 5 times wider, 4 times taller and 9 times longer than the one used today. It was black and dark silver, but perhaps it could be its own shadow. I dropped my keys, unable to break eye contact with it. It was just floating in the sky, no sound, not even a slight movement. I was dragged back inside by Stephen. I regained concioussness, as if the... thing was hypnotising me. He brought me a coffee and took to the longue. I let out a deep sigh, drinking the slightly bitter black liquid. I hope my family is safe...
Forming the EU is a good option for the early game as you can combine the nations into one, by the time you finish you will have a nation with material output comparable to US or China.
The biggest issue with the EU formable is that you have little military power at the outset from each of its constituent nations. Only France and the UK start off with an initial army of the nations that have EU cores… although Germany, Spain and Italy are all partway through assembling an army. Likewise, France and the UK have 3 and 2 nuclear weapons, respectively.
The last crate was stacked, the processing floor was clean, the machines ready for use, the smell of ammonia and dead fish choking out the scents of the late summer flowers of the nearby woods. A loud boom and shout of “hell is that?” shake the work gang from their exhaustion. A line of fire and smoke cross the sky. “That’s not right,” says a bespectacled worker, “that’s too big, it’s gonna kill everything in ten miles when it hits.” “Not here then?” replied a man wearing a hi-vis vest and clean boots. “Nah, slope’s all wrong,” the worker raises his hand, finger’s spread measuring the angle and following the smoke trail. “It’s pretty shallow, might hit Africa, maybe India, the Atlantic if we’re unlucky, China Sea if we are.” A small sigh escapes a few of the men still standing around. “Then get back to work, shrimp peeler ain’t gonna rebuild its ownself.” ... "Well, some poor bastard is gonna have a worse day than us, at least."
I had been on Earth for many millenia. Over time I have learned to blend into this ordinary and unsophisticated pagan society. Such a simple, yet such a good life unburdened by the knowledge I had amassed over my own lifetime. When the bright orange streak zoomed across the horizon I knew that all that was going to change. The natives of this planet were amazed, some bewildered but every one was fascinated and, deep within, asked themselves what it meant - if anything. Was it just another meteor crashing into an ocean, most likely? Or did it have some kind of intrinsic meaning? Some grabbed their weapons, others tried to get clarity by praying or consuming mind-expanding drugs. Whatever was going to happen next, be it benevolent or malevolent, everyone prepared in their own way. And they waited for the first step. It did not take long...
Kazakhstan seems like a pretty good option, easy way to get a ton of boost and you can then either control other nations in Asia to work your way in to Russia and China (controling a nation slightly increases the chances of talking over neighbouring countries) or go to eastern Europe to take Russia and a large chunk of EU.
From what I've learned from Perun, Kazakhstan is just too easy to coup without protecting it from it. He went to get Russia and integrated Kazakhstan into the Eurasian Union or something like that.
Well stealth also got Russia, he just needs to combine the two now. Its not realy a major investment, just an easy grab that gives you some options (and a ton of boost income) heck you don't even need to hold it all that long if you didn't take Russia, just long enough to get a mine on the moon
I'm glad Humanity First is your first campaign through this. Sometimes somebody has to go forth and punch an alien. No senseless servitude, appeasement, or cowardice. Hardline aggression is the only way, as apposed to the more passive defensive nature of the Resistance. FOR THE EMPEROR!!! FOR HOLY TERRA!!!
"Two possibilities exist: Either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying." That was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw it. I saw it. And the unearthly scream it made when it came down. My heart dropped, once I realized that if we were ever visited, I don't think they would be peaceful and friendly. I don't think our lives are ever going to be the same again. Well....maybe now, people can stop killing each other over ideology and religion. This could unite us. You'd think this would be the thing to stop the bloodshed?
Looking forward to seeing the gameplay develop... seems a bit Stellaris in aesthetics... and that tech tree is very intimidating.... but it looks like something I would buy.
I remember the first day, first night really. I was with my wife, sitting on the porch of our farm. Now, it wasn't much of a farm - I was a day trader who bought an old farmhouse and had his brother help him fix it up. It was our second anniversary. We shared a glass of wine, I kissed her while the sky lit up for a brief moment. We made a wish. After that? Bed. And sleep. Too much wine for more than that. But even in the wildest, must drink addled nightmares man has ever had could we have imagined what that falling star truly was.
Bought this game for the sole reason to play as humanity first Funny to think the god emperor is just chillin while all this happens considering his mere presence is going to unite mankind one way or another
You were wondering about the term “stand up” and thought maybe it should be “step up”. I believe they did mean “stand up”, as in start, begin or build up a new program. Also great looking game, very interested to see how it develops as you play! Looks like it has a lot of potential!
@Stealth17 Gaming the first person in your council is *always* going to hail from your RL home country, based upon the setting of your computer. It has no impact on actual gameplay, other than perhaps some government orgs being unavailable for recruitment to that particular character.
"As soon as I heard about the news of the alien ship, crashing in Pakistan, I knew it was going to be trouble. I have seen enough action movies to know, aliens are never good news. It's just like in nature, the strong will take over the weak if the weak cannot defend themselves... Therefore, I have pushed to establish a task force, the "Einsatzgruppe für Außerirdische Angelegenheiten", in English the task force for extraterrestrial activities. And while the ministry of defence has granted me this department, the funding is embarrassingly miniscule. The pacifists and hippies in the government talk some bullshit about an opportunity to make friendship... Yeah right... As if that liberal mindset has brought us any kind of good except licking the boots of autocracies on the world stage... But I will keep on my mission, encourage other NATO forces to join up. Humanity needs to be defended by any means necessary. End memo." Generalmajor Detlef Ziegler, former 1st Panzerdivision, now "Einsatzgruppe für Außerirdische Angelegenheiten"
I think its awesome when we are reminded that Stealth is Dutch. It's obvious when you hear his wife in the background. His English is undoubtedly American, not UKian, which you'd expect due to proximity.
It was the middle of the night when the shelter in the Carpathians mountains was reached. Wet, tired and hungry, we onloaded the heavy rucksacks on the pine benches that, rudimentary formed our resting place for the night. The newbies of our group was sent into the black night to gather wood, frontal lights licking the rocky terrain in search of much needed sustenance for our heavy steakes, beer, that all of us payid a heavy toll, and a guitar, that our most experienced "leader" was about to unleash into our hearts. The heaviest parts of our trek was already in the past, but memorable ones were bringed out with laughter and high spirits, as the one that we needed to swing in rappel from one side of the mountain from the other that our "leader" insisted on doing as he balladed his girlfriend, later his wife, as swinging wildlyfrom one side of the mountain to the other and insisting on finish it. We laughed and drink the beer that burden our already heavy rucksacks, the smell of steaks filling the small refuge with joyful laughter, songs and highlights of our trek, when suddenly the air stood still, the air was thick and highly ozoned and crackling licks of electricity filled the small cabin. The heavy sensation that we are not alone drive us out, armed with piolets rushed out only to get stuck in some muddy air highly ozoned that smelled as burned steak. Suddenly the area around the cabin filled with heavy light in a wide circle and small movements filled the outher rims ; whispering shadows filled our heads with oily words in an ancient language that can we understand and the whole Universe exploded in a thousand ways of understanding it...We didn't struggle anymore on that light, we embrace it becoming one with one another and the whole Universe. The next morning we found ourselves in the sleeping bags, with the smell of steak on de dying embers, and what glorious morning that was... the whole mountain was surrounded by a blanket of clouds, the sun was shining high and the sensation that we slept for a millennia was like a lingering afterthought. We stood baffled into that new sun, we feeled like reborn babies that understood nothing and started to share our " dream" ; the realization that no one actually dreamed hit us the hardest ; the fact that the breakfast in that morning consisted of the steakes that were still cooking on last night and combined with the fact that THAT particular morning the sun was shining brighter, the food was tastier and the air was ... ALIVE around us, made one of our most precious memories. And no, this isn't sci-fi, actual experience of a whole group.
Journal of Lt Edgar Ross F35 pilot 3rd Fleet USN: I observed from 35000ft as the TOI screamed through the upper atmosphere over the Arabian Sea towards Pakistan. The Shockwave of the sonic boom the object created as it roared overhead rattled my aircraft. No way in hell were we gonna be able to shadow it for long let alone shoot it down over international waters. Command wouldn't tell us what the TOI was but I knew it wasn't an errant satellite like my wingman predicted when we were scrambled off the deck. Radar returns didn't seem to show it tumbling like one would expect a wayward satellite or piece of space junk. This "object" appeared to be heading on a deliberate course towards a remote part of Pakistan. I don't know what the higher ups have planned but I know that if whatever that was wasn't friendly we are in for a world of hurt. We need to put Humanity First and eliminate any threat that any extraterrestrial theat would pose with extreme prejudice.
“And I looked, and behold, a windstorm came out of the north, a great cloud, with fire flashing forth continually--and a brightness all around, coming out of its midst, like the color of sparkling amber out of the midst of the fire. Also out of its midst came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. And each had four faces, and each had four wings. And their legs were straight; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot. And they sparkled like the color of burnished brass. And the hands of a man extended from under their wings on their four sides; and as for their faces and wings of the four of them, Their wings were joined one to the other. They did not turn in their going; each one went straight forward. And the likeness of their faces was this: the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side of the four of them; and the face of a bull on the left side of the four of them; and the face of an eagle toward the rear of the four of them. Thus were their faces. And their wings were stretched upward; two wings of each one were joined to another; and two wings of each covered their bodies. And each went straight forward. To where the spirit was to go, there they went without turning as they moved. And the likeness of the living creatures was this: they looked like burning coals of fire; like the appearance of torches. It was continually circling among the living creatures. And the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. And the living creatures kept running back and forth, like the appearance of a flash of lightning.” These are the words of the prophet Ezekiel, with which he describes a Cherubim, a type of angel he saw in a vision from God. They capture a strangeness and the unknowability of the divine most depictions of angels willingly ignore. They are so strange in fact, that many christians dismiss them outright as being symbolic and metaphoric, instead of physical. I however believe them to be true by the word. Why would a prophet describing a god given Vision dance around what he saw with metaphors instead of writing down what he actually saw? Maybe I should hold a sermon on this topic? But, then again, that is just my opinion and there are much more important things to preach. That’s what I would have said yesterday, if someone would have asked me about it. Today… today things are different. You see, there are some nutcases out there who take Ezekiel's descriptions and see them as proof that aliens visited earth long ago. Nobody took them seriously until now. But I have a hunch that these opinions will be much more popular in the future. When I saw the news today I first didn’t believe it myself. My first thought was some kind of April fools joke. But after a quick reminder that it was September, not April, I thought the station got hacked and switched to a different channel. But they did report the same. I switched the channel again, but the story stayed the same. Then the first footage came in and it dawned on me. It was real. Aliens, life from a different planet, was just confirmed to exist. And they landed on Earth. Well, crashlanded, but the point still stands. My mind instantly went to those words Ezekiel. My thoughts raced. Could it be true that Ezekiel was visited by aliens instead of angels? What about the other visits of angels? No, that couldn’t be. Maybe they’re demons? Some trick of the Devil? Or maybe a test of faith sent from God? Something entirely different? What was God's plan with this? I muted the tv and prayed, I don’t know for how long. Could have been 10 minutes, could have been an hour. My thoughts were clear afterwards. I don’t know Gods plan, but I don’t have to. I opened my King James Bible and read through Genesis. I could rule out angels and demons, since they wouldn’t have needed a spaceship. In fact, the story of creation didn’t say anywhere that earth was the only place with life. In fact, Genesis 1:20 “And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven” could hint at life on other planets, depending on interpretation. And then there was the mysterious race of the Nephilim, only mentioned once in the entire bible, that could also be a possible match. I smirked. The catholic church only acknowledged that the earth orbited the sun in the 1930s. I however was a protestant and as such much more in line with modern science. I would not wait until other priests updated their doctrines. That would cost time. Time in which many will lose their faith if they don’t find answers to their questions. And while I didn’t have every answer, I could already give some. Besides, Sunday is still a few days ahead. I have a lot of time to think. Oh, I can’t wait to hold the sermon! It might become the best I ever hold!
@@cy-one these are loyal servants of the emperor They are a faction so uncaring of human suffering that it won't Terra that is getting invaded it will be the alien's homeworld They will purge humanity first and resistance faction because they were too lenient on the alien and factions like the servants, academy, initiative, exodus and protectorate will be subjected to torture so bad it would make hell look like a nice vacation Also they have a god on their side
I was working on rocket booster that were ordered by Americans. Pivden-Mash makes different rocket parts for space rockets and balistic and cruise missiles. We receive different orders from different countries. When I heard about aliens on radio broadcast I thought "They might need an engineer like me"
E.T.E Log.1 Enemies defeated and cigarettes lit my comrades all celebrate together in victory with a bottle of vodka that probably isn't contraband, I digress, I on the other hand I'm sitting a little ways off closer to the 50 caliber gun in case the secondary surprise attack is to take place as I'm completely ignoring them just laying there I just stare out at the sky and I'm just going through cigarette after cigarette looking at the sky lost in my thoughts compartmentalizing what I have done to keep my head straight but as I'm looking up at the sky I noticed movement out of the left side of my eyes upon snapping to the general direction it's shape is unmistakable it wasn't a disc and it wasn't something I've seen from any video game but it was definitely something that was built I jumped to the 50 caliber shouting out possible tango 900 m out gun trained but not firing yet I'm yet waiting on my officers command to do so and so it begins to move towards our location I didn't even care if the officer commanded me to I opened fired intending to cut that thing in half I had some effect but unfortunately was not enough as everyone around me died and for some utterly f***** reason I'm still here... I'm... still...here
I can imagine a little devil and angel on either shoulder but who’s the devil and who’s the angel?

Ömer Kaan "BrokenBlade" [Classified] 13th AME 28th September It was my birthday that day and I was hoping for a some fun with my friends. I needed this since my social life in ruins, well hard military service does that to a person I guess. Still it bothered me that I had really no one return to ot no one waiting at home worried about me but still proud. I got a message from command around midday. It just said ı need to be İzmir Military Airport ussualy they would also add a time frame but this message did not had any, this means what ever are we called for is very urgent. I remember wondering if we were under attack. I had no idea how right ı was. I got my QRF bag ant throw in the back of my car a custom 71 Charger, damn I really miss that car. Everyone was so calm radio were playing music, civilians going on with their days even the military base was calm what ever was going on no one knew about it. Things did not got clearer when ı got into the darkroom. Half of 13th was there but more so there were people from other QRF units it seemed like they called everyone there were even the traniees were called they were standing in theirs uniforms looking very confused. I got to my unit we chatted a bit but none us knew what was going on. Around an hour passed after my arrival entire 13th was there and most other QRF units seemed complete then "Terminator" came in. Everybody in Special Operations knew him he was a living legend he was retired few years back now seeing him here giving briefing made everything even more odd. But our mission was just bonkers. We were supposed to go to location of a suspected alien ship expected to crash site breach that ship and gather anything and everything. Even our allies are regarded as enemy and approached with caution but not to be engaed if not fired upon. It was a very strange birthday present by universe
It was my first memory from once I was a baby I remember my mom and dad were going on a road trip across Europe and we seen this bright flash and a streak going through the sky and now I can't even remember how earth was before the sky turned red for that brief second and it sparked my intrest in what space reqlly was and now that i understand im terrified of what "they" are now I am old enough to defend this price of rock I call home
I can´t wait for TI to come out. Have it on my Wishlist since the first Demo on Steam a couple of Month ago. Played the Demo a couple of Times. Side Note: I WILL write a short Story. But that will have to wait for next Week. Have to write it in my own Language and translate it. Happy to see you play TI.

*Reverent Alan Fitzgerald* *Sunday Address* *Sweetwater Church of Christ* *Tennessee* Dear people of Sweetwater. It is pleasure to see you go many of our community today in this here house of God. Even, no. Especially those whose faces I have not seen here since their Communion. Though pleasant it is no surprise why you are gathered here so numerously. People need the support of their community and that of the Lord most in times like this. As you will already know, in these times of hardship and conflicts, our Planet has been visited by Aliens! I know! This is frightening. I feel it in my heart too. It is mans first instinct to fear what he does not know. Especially when he's lacking faith in God and his fellow men. 'What do those Aliens want?' You ask. 'What are these Aliens like?' You ask. Only God knows. But despite this, the leaders of the world are already talking about what should be done about these Aliens. Maybe we should work with them? Maybe we should serve them? Maybe we should breed with them? Or maybe, we should leave this Earth and flee from them?? I do not presume to know the answer to this. But, my dear Flock, I what I do know is that in times like this we must put our faith in God and our trust into our fellow men. That we must stand together as humans, everywhere and that we must remember always: We are made in Gods image. We are his favoured Children. And we rule this earth with the grace of God! We will not bow. We will not serve! And we will not go away!! PRAISE THE LORD!!"
I was coming home from the lab that evening. Spending all day running Atomic absorbtion spectrometry is exhausting, so when I got a push notice on my phone from the news saying something to the effect of "object entering Earth atmosphere likely a spacecraft of some kind, no terrestrial space agency claims responsibility" I didn't really bat an eye. Tiredness combined with the last few years' deluge of misery after the coronavirus and the war in Ukraine, I think, made me say "Eh, what's another earth-shattering event?" But then I got home, sat down, had a cup of tea, and while the news kept updating, I realized that holy fucking shit aliens are real, and all the world's worries came into a new perspective for me. A pandemic comes along, some people's lives are ruined, the rest of us make some memes and life goes on, and we joke about "yeah I'll tell my children I survived 2021 and they'll be totally impressed". But now I don't feel like those things matter anymore. There's no way to know what's to come, but knowing what happened to the Inca... I'm fucking scared, man.
I woke up in my old dirty apartment in New York, half naked and ready to continue this forever cycle of well, boringness. My name is Jeremy Hardwell Berger, I have no job, a girlfriend who pays everything for me and my whole family except my aunt has abandoned me. I thought today will be the same as ever, going to watch the news and eat chips all day long till I fall asleep again, however, when I turned on the news, I found out that something has crashed into earth. I thought to myself "Wait a minute, is it a f* asteroid or a meteor or whatever the hell the scientists call it?". No, it wasn't, I continued watching the news, I found out that it couldn't have been an asteroid or meteor, the impact was way too small. It turned it to be aliens But I couldn't believe that, why would an alien go to earth, no maybe they crashed it. I dug further, however, the internet has barely caught on and no matter my efforts, I could not find anything relevant. Then, I saw a Twitter Post, it showed a video of a boy filming something moving along the treelines, the boy was clearly Pakistani. I thought to myself "It's just editing, can't be aliens". However, it looked real, real real. That's when my girlfriend called and said we're breaking up, I was heart broken and forgot about the Alien thing. I went to the top of the apartment building, thinking to myself that I have lost the only reason to live, but then it snapped inside of me "What if I catch the alien first and study it?". That's when I called my scientist friend working in a small lab in New York couple blocks away from me. We had a long talk and he agreed to study the alien with me, I got the remaining money I've got and bought two tickets to fly to Pakistan. I'm gonna catch that MF and I'm gonna find out what is really happening!
Many people were afraid when the alien ship crashed. It was even more terrifying from space, however. I watched the whole thing from one of the International Space Station's few windows. The thing hurtled through the void, then lit up like a star as it slammed into the atmosphere. The strangest part was, it seemed to slow as it moved, and not at the natural atmospheric-friction-slowing-an-object slowing, but more like failed-to-propulsively-land slowing. It left a bunch of debris scattered in space that caused us to strap into our seats in case the Dragon I went up on had to make an evacuation. I sat for hours, waiting for the pilot to get the signal to undock. Thankfully, it never came. The station narrowly avoided the largest of the debris, and none of the damage was life-threatening. All I know is that I'm getting down to earth ASAP.
This is my first time writing this and i am not a native speaker so feel free to correct grammar mistakes.I want to cover the early day of Humanity First (HF) through the eyes of Stealth 's employee, Date 30/9/2022 Location:Pakistan .On the foothill a mountain a woman is walking with her leather bag,she wearing a shirt ,a coat ,trouser and a hat to combat the heat and humid , .Her name is Iris van Alphen a scientist born in Amsterdam specialize in biology, the reason she here is."Huh so this is the place , not as fancy as i thought it should be" In front of her is a rusted metal door that have been carefully hidden, searching around she find a keypad , open her notebook to type the number when she notice " No dust , this must mean he have already arrived , never think i will meet him back like this" .When she input the numbers a huge sound emit from the metal door as it slowly open. With a flashlight in hand she walk down tunnel full with spider web and dust, the light emit from the flashlight help Iris see a sign" Ras Koh Hill test site , bunker A-555" .After passing through numerous corridors, she find herself in an enormous space. A voice suddenly echo through the room " What are you doing here, madam ? " she quickly reflex to see who it is , there sitting on a table a mysterious man wearing a black suit and trouser with a red necktie, one of his hand holding a smartphone .His polish suit in conjuncture with his pose is stark contrast to surrounding area that are fit to a wasteland." I should be the one to say that" replied Iris, the man scan her for a few second before standing up,putting his phone in a pocket " Right, sorry for startle you.My name is Alexander Berger an evangelist , founder of Alexander Orphan Care and a devote Protestant ,how about miss ? " "Iris just call me that, a scientist" the man slightly raised his eyebrow" wow for such a position ,your way of talk is really raw" " So what" " Nothing".Iris immediately took the initiative and ask back" Why an evangelist is in this place ,if you think you can smooth talk your way out of this, think again " she step back a few steps as she say it, eyes still focus on a man ."Well how to explain this ,just say i received a red envelop and the coordinate brought me here" he then type his phone and shower a picture of the envelope the content on is exactly the same with Iris. Both of them then hear sound of footstep through a wall , a wall slowly open and a man walk out.He wearing an army uniform and a beret ,his long beard along with his big muscle body intimidate two of them.He stand there ,menacingly .Before sidestep ,2 other figures emerge behind him., a girl and a young man " Hey, Stealth what is this nonsense" " Seriously, reunite with an old friend and that the first thing you say, then again that what make you cute" Stealth said with a little smile on his face then turn to Berger with a face that is emotionless " Sorry for keeping you out, i just need to verify the person ,if you need some cleaning my secretary will guide you" he then glance at a young girl around 18 and 19, her wearing a suit and having a glass, however make her look older than what she should be."Thank you" "Hey Stealth where do you get her "ask Iris."Oh she isn't mine ,by the way her name is Arofa ,she was picked up general Hanse Castillo when we were preparing our MOB "S glance at Castillo, Castillo then say" Yes i picked her up because i saw her barefoot selling lottery in a rain, when ask she said she had lost her parent and she was alone , so i took her". After that Stealth speak up" Enough chit-chat,we waste too much time already, come in Iris and Berger".Walking down the corridor Iris notice that the air is cooler and there no weird smell anymore ,the wall and floor also clean spotless, this make her question when did her old friend do all of this.Upon entering the room, both Iris and Berger surprise, not at the sheer size of it but the fact that there are row of modern computer and dozen of monitor displaying numerous statistic, with the biggest one showing the Solar System."Never thought i will be witness a scene that can be describe as sci-fi" Berger commented.Stealth turn around hanging his hand to both side "Get used to it people, this is your new home "
It was different from Haley's comet. I remember how people had looked up at the night sky with wonder as the plume grew in brightness over time. This time, there was palpable fear of the unknown as the "object" grew larger and brighter over our heads, its trajectory confirmed to impact somewhere in Asia. Surprisingly, however, there was less panic than one might have expected. The Earth's population seemed too tired to riot... COVID, climate disasters, the rise of fascism, political corruption... and on and on... Then the object struck and the existence of alien life... intelligent, ship-building alien life was revealed to the World. With hindsight, it is understandable why so many had welcomed such a sign of salvation from their earthly masters. Too much Star Trek and not enough H.G. Wells. Well... people had been spectacularly naïve and stupid back then. Aliens don't travel the unfathomable vastness of space to make friends, People!! And they could just as well use us as a food source as enslave us or rescue us from our self-created miseries. Not a popular opinion at the time. Humanity First had the right idea... although at first many people compared them to the KKK or that other bunch of well-known a-holes - Speciesism ain't racism, People!!! The whole human supremacy issue was certainly a stumbling block for many people to get their head around, but their manifesto was unapologetic. We were confined to this planet. It could be our fortress or our tomb, and Humanity First were very clear about where *they* stood on the issue. But first, we had to convince the World we were right... It helped to have Alexander Berger. Sort of a cross between the character played by Matthew McConaughey in Contact and Greg Locke. Unfortunately Kazakhstan wasn't his congregation. A small stumble at the start that only served to make us buckle down and get it right next time....
"A space program developed in Sweden - of all places." Given the resources and infrastructure, launching near the poles is beneficial for covering the poles without having to use as much delta-V as when launching closer to the equator. Then again, pros and cons - I don't know what that means for interplanetary launches from near the poles.
Nothing good - the poles are stationary (although spinning on the spot) while the equator gives any launch a starting speed of 1,000mph. Only when you have achieved orbital velocity can you adjust the orbit to give something other than one on the same rotational plane as the earth, but this takes much less power than achieving orbital velocity in the first place. This is why US space program is based in Florida, Russian in Khazakstan (both about as far south as they can get them), China at Wenchang at about 20degN, and ESA in an overseas department of France, French Guiana, in northeast S. America (5.15deg N). This is why ESA has the least expensive satellite launches.
BTW is this verion of game equiped with save/load option. Got to play backers demo and it is "fun" when your 2 top concilors start to fight one another. Realistic in that way to have national rivalry within faction.
A potentially good alternative to Kazakhstan might be North Korea, having a space program, nuclear weapons, and ( I didn't see in the game) a large military.
lol... the initiative chairman is a South African. The name is a bit odd (Soren), but Van Wyk and his accent, is a strong indication that he's a Saffa. I'm South African as well, that's how I know :)
Spaceport, as in control? or do you just mean place to launch from? France, Russia, China, Kazakhstan, North Korea, and the United States of America, and possibly some others, all have launch facilities that produce boost (1 boost = ability to lift 10 tons of material to orbit) of varying amounts. Control is much harder to acquire, each control allows 1 off Earth facility or ship and the list of territory with control doesn't match up with boost, Germany for instance has mission control, but no boost (as the EU launch facilities are controlled by France). The opposite is true for Kazakhstan, lots of boost, no control facilities.
Whohoo, a playthrough from someone who may have an idea what to do. Wonder if you'll go with the unite EU first like I did with the demo. Extra objective: Don't let the servants get nukes.
Is there any good outlines of how exactly the factions play differently? Or are they fairly simular mechanically, with different story beats changing how the game goes?
I remember trying this game back in demo. Manage to took over North America and Russia. Tried to do the same with China but I got frustrated so I just kinda hit the red button. A good way to try to control a big nation is to took over their weaker neighbor first, so for the US it would be Mexico and Canada.
As a Norwegian, I must ask, is Norway listed as a Space-capable nation? We have more successful launches than NASA after all... No, the one that the Russians mistook for a nuke launch is not considered a fail...
The most important thing that is missing is religion. The way the G7, and the major faiths respond to the aliens would basically set the future of humanity. That is an actual an interesting story. Also as this is set now, we should have SpaceX and Elon Musk. Whoever has him, and the will, I would think may dominate "launch points."
I mean, religion can easily play into the factions motivations. Humanity First for example can easily be seen as one possible result of the abrahamic faiths, for example. The Exodus could be a result of whatever pacifist peacelovers I can't think of right now :D
@@cy-one Yes. Religion could have easily been included. And I think it should have. I have watched about 15 hours of game play and just purchased the game. But I am still at work. I am a Civilization player, so I am in general ok with this type of game. That is what it this feels like to me civilization meets Xcom. But what I already see is this game is "jarring." It does not have a "smooth" transition from earth-based to space-based situation. This weakens that addictive nature of Civ of "...just one more turn..." This game has a ridiculous approach to that tech tree. And the way it chooses to include some organizations and not. It is jarring. We have the European Union, but we do not have NATO. We have so many organizations, but we do not have any religious ones. I can easily see the Catholic faith aligning itself with "let's get along." I can see the Mormon faith being "let's get the heck out of here." That overlay on the world. 1 Billion Catholics or Muslims who all get the message. Man what an interesting layer. You can't build a world-builder, especially a "right now" world builder and just not include religion. It is incomplete. Perhaps the first mod? Scientology (Servants)? Sure I love this stuff. Oh by the way, if you are taking suggestions, nation states still matter. Try and take a Chinese Judge and make them effective in the US and you are not going to get very far. But a Chinese politician in China... You would want to recruit agents from the nations you want to manipulate.
God did not prepare me for this, it was a normal day, I was preaching leading a prayer then right through the ceiling of the church came crashing down in front of me, a ship of some sort, the side of it opened and out came a beast right from hell, it hissed at me and crawled over the blood of my congregation, I sat there and watched as it limped away, god did not prepare me for this
Friday 30.09.2022 Dear diary today was interesting the soldiers who frequent my bar were talking about a alien crash. At first i thought its jut the usual drunk soldier talk. Until i turned on the news, and low and behold fricking aliens only 400km away. then the soldiers talk shifted to what the government was gonna. "do send the Military to secure the site before some dimwit touches something they shouldn't" came from one corner. "no the airforce should bombard the site until nothing remains" shouted another. within 15 minutes i had to breakup 3 fights about what we should do about the aliens. i say blow it up there's probably nothing of use left in there anyway, and that way NATO and or the Chinese wont invade. but what do i know i'm just some barkeep
It's interesting that XCOM and XCOM 2 basically stripped all the strategic layer out and were very popular and successful, and yet this game is *just* the stuff that they removed. Horses for courses I suppose, but I'm not sure it's one for me. I quite like xenonauts, and like a bit of strategy with my turn based combat but I'm not hankering for all strategy with nothing to break that up a bit.
It's because the guys that created this game, Pavonis Interactive, also created the Long War mods for both XCOM 1 and 2. Both had a hefty strategy layer.
I'd assume the latter necessarily includes destroying the alien base on the edge of the system, whereas the former just means _disuading_ them from continuing to invade Earth.
The Academy starts wih strong support initially because they are an obvious middle-ground when you know nothing about what is out there. If someone knocks on your front door very few people jump to the "let's shoot them immediately' conclusion and most people are likely to be undecided or cooperative to the stranger ("hello, how can I help you?"). Obviously, if that person then pulls out a gun the possible reactions start to splinter - which is exactly what happens to the Academy support as soon as humanity proves the aliens have weapons. Quite believeable.

Well that's a scary thought of what could happen

“General Quarters, General Quarters, all hands man your battle stations!” A stern voice shot through an intercom.
“Seems like another drill.” One man thought as he got out of his sleeping rack.
He dipped and weaved around his fellow crew mates who were all hurrying to there stations as he was hurrying to his.
He reaches the flight deck and smells the familiar sea breeze he always hated.
He never liked the ocean, but yet he was on an aircraft carrier off the coast of Saudi Arabia.
Fate was cruel sometimes.
“Petty Officer Darin!” yelled a gruffy voice
“Yes Chief?” I replied.
“Report to the situation room immediately.”
Huh, that’s weird, my job is on a flight deck not a briefing room.
“What for?” I asked
“Aliens.”
Cool… aliens.

@@zanaduz2018 I don’t usually invade until at least 5-6 years in, by then you will have a bigger army.

A loud boom and shout of “hell is that?” shake the work gang from their exhaustion. A line of fire and smoke cross the sky.
“That’s not right,” says a bespectacled worker, “that’s too big, it’s gonna kill everything in ten miles when it hits.”
“Not here then?” replied a man wearing a hi-vis vest and clean boots.
“Nah, slope’s all wrong,” the worker raises his hand, finger’s spread measuring the angle and following the smoke trail. “It’s pretty shallow, might hit Africa, maybe India, the Atlantic if we’re unlucky, China Sea if we are.”

This seems like the Fear Saga. A book series about a coming alien invasion.
"Two possibilities exist: Either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying."
That was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw it.

I remember the first day, first night really. I was with my wife, sitting on the porch of our farm. Now, it wasn't much of a farm - I was a day trader who bought an old farmhouse and had his brother help him fix it up. It was our second anniversary. We shared a glass of wine, I kissed her while the sky lit up for a brief moment.
We made a wish.
After that? Bed. And sleep. Too much wine for more than that. But even in the wildest, must drink addled nightmares man has ever had could we have imagined what that falling star truly was.
Ah yes, the glorious start to the Imperium of Man. Gonna have to buy.
Bought this game for the sole reason to play as humanity first
Funny to think the god emperor is just chillin while all this happens considering his mere presence is going to unite mankind one way or another
You were wondering about the term “stand up” and thought maybe it should be “step up”.
Ah makes sense, thanks
That's a cute little detail, tbh.

And the living creatures kept running back and forth, like the appearance of a flash of lightning.”
These are the words of the prophet Ezekiel, with which he describes a Cherubim, a type of angel he saw in a vision from God.
For Terra! For Mars! For the Golden Throne!
FOR THE OMNISSIAH! FOR THE EMPEROR! FOR THE IMPERIUM OF MAN!
Lemme guess, you're both totally supporters of The Protectorate, yes? XD
@@cy-one these are loyal servants of the emperor
They are a faction so uncaring of human suffering that it won't Terra that is getting invaded it will be the alien's homeworld
They will purge humanity first and resistance faction because they were too lenient on the alien and factions like the servants, academy, initiative, exodus and protectorate will be subjected to torture so bad it would make hell look like a nice vacation
Also they have a god on their side
I was working on rocket booster that were ordered by Americans. Pivden-Mash makes different rocket parts for space rockets and balistic and cruise missiles. We receive different orders from different countries. When I heard about aliens on radio broadcast I thought "They might need an engineer like me"
They do mean stand up. It's used in government and the military to mean establish an organization as in "stand up the 1st Infantry Division."
I can't wait for this game to be released
I'll try to come up with something for a story and put it in the next episode
i can help read my story

Enemies defeated and cigarettes lit my comrades all celebrate together in victory with a bottle of vodka that probably isn't contraband, I digress, I on the other hand I'm sitting a little ways off closer to the 50 caliber gun in case the secondary surprise attack is to take place as I'm completely ignoring them just laying there I just stare out at the sky and I'm just going through cigarette after cigarette looking at the sky lost in my thoughts compartmentalizing what I have done to keep my head straight but as I'm looking up at the sky I noticed movement out of the left side of my eyes upon snapping to the general direction it's shape is unmistakable it wasn't a disc and it wasn't something I've seen from any video game but it was definitely something that was built I jumped to the 50 caliber shouting out possible tango 900 m out gun trained but not firing yet I'm yet waiting on my officers command to do so and so it begins to move towards our location I didn't even care if the officer commanded me to I opened fired intending to cut that thing in half I had some effect but unfortunately was not enough as everyone around me died and for some utterly f***** reason I'm still here... I'm... still...here

Humanity First & The Resistance are like match made in heaven
Looking forward to more episodes of this series.
China and US butting heads over the crash site in Pakistan is pretty realistic. Pakistan is very divided between Chinese and US influence.
I can imagine a little devil and angel on either shoulder but who’s the devil and who’s the angel?

It was my birthday that day and I was hoping for a some fun with my friends.

Dear people of Sweetwater.
That we must stand together as humans, everywhere and that we must remember always:
We are made in Gods image.
Tiredness combined with the last few years' deluge of misery after the coronavirus and the war in Ukraine, I think, made me say "Eh, what's another earth-shattering event?"
But then I got home, sat down, had a cup of tea, and while the news kept updating, I realized that holy fucking shit aliens are real, and all the world's worries came into a new perspective for me.
It turned it to be aliens
But I couldn't believe that, why would an alien go to earth, no maybe they crashed it.
You do a kickass job on your vids. Keep it up
Thanks!
Looking forward to the campaign!
This looks interesting, and very complicated.
This is my first time writing this and i am not a native speaker so feel free to correct grammar mistakes.I want to cover the early day of Humanity First (HF) through the eyes of Stealth 's employee,
Date 30/9/2022 Location:Pakistan .On the foothill a mountain a woman is walking with her leather bag,she wearing a shirt ,a coat ,trouser and a hat to combat the heat and humid , .Her name is Iris van Alphen a scientist born in Amsterdam specialize in biology, the reason she here is."Huh so this is the place , not as fancy as i thought it should be" In front of her is a rusted metal door that have been carefully hidden, searching around she find a keypad , open her notebook to type the number when she notice " No dust , this must mean he have already arrived , never think i will meet him back like this" .When she input the numbers a huge sound emit from the metal door as it slowly open.
Come men do you want to live forever? Charge for humanity!
A dude from a trailer park in Alabama gets sucked up into a UFO where he is mercilessly gange probed by extra terrestrials with big "probes".
Somewhere, someone is screaming into a USB microphone: They're making the aliens gay!
@@cy-oneimagine using a usb microphone I just use a neural link to my computer and use my voice box
BTW is this verion of game equiped with save/load option. Got to play backers demo and it is "fun" when your 2 top concilors start to fight one another. Realistic in that way to have national rivalry within faction.
I am pumped for this series
omg the door bell
its been a while since i had a heart attack while watching your vids
Yes more of this
Always good to see new XCOM style games.
Can you show is the supernations that can formed?
"Keep earth pure"
mmmmmmm you had me at Big Tech Tree
Just for curiosity: what are the nation at the begging of the game have a space port?
Just from looking at that tech tree, I can tell that this game has not been designed by the creators of XCOM:Short War
Not exactly no. I came across somebody saying the campaign will last about 30 in-game years
Whohoo, a playthrough from someone who may have an idea what to do. Wonder if you'll go with the unite EU first like I did with the demo. Extra objective: Don't let the servants get nukes.
Thanks. I still have a ton to learn. Federations and "nations must have a claim" confuse me. Not sure how to unite nations into a supernation yet.
"If you will"
I will, all 58 times :P
Is there any good outlines of how exactly the factions play differently? Or are they fairly simular mechanically, with different story beats changing how the game goes?
Humanity First are the group that read the 3 Body Problem by Cixin Liu
Also wh40k fans
Polarization in the US should be much much higher
I remember trying this game back in demo. Manage to took over North America and Russia. Tried to do the same with China but I got frustrated so I just kinda hit the red button. A good way to try to control a big nation is to took over their weaker neighbor first, so for the US it would be Mexico and Canada.
This game is awesome
Im not even going try to make a story because I don't fully know what the Lore is about
bump from SPACE
Question will this be available on mobile
Looking good
great video
Yay !
As a Norwegian, I must ask, is Norway listed as a Space-capable nation? We have more successful launches than NASA after all... No, the one that the Russians mistook for a nuke launch is not considered a fail...
it looks damn interesting
Holy shitfuck that tech tree... I am quite excited now
The most important thing that is missing is religion.
God did not prepare me for this, it was a normal day, I was preaching leading a prayer then right through the ceiling of the church came crashing down in front of me, a ship of some sort, the side of it opened and out came a beast right from hell, it hissed at me and crawled over the blood of my congregation, I sat there and watched as it limped away, god did not prepare me for this
Just to let you know: your video popped up on the recommended list in 1st place.

Dear diary today was interesting the soldiers who frequent my bar were talking about a alien crash.
@@Stealth17Gaming I think I'm thinking of it like an XCOM game when really it's more like a Paradox grand strategy

Yep, it's more like EU4 in space with the dressing of XCOM, not XCOM in space with a seasoning of EU4.
What’s the difference between resist the aliens and destroy the aliens?
Tbh, I did LOL when Stealth17 mentioned the Iraqi Space Program 😂 🤣
Beard of Doom rocket and everything!
@@Stealth17Gaming remember, it has to be pointy!
@@icyarc8859 remember remember, if pointy end does not point to space, you're not going to space today.
any r/hfy regs here?
I technically count
Technically been there for several months now, but just lurking.
Did making EU and CSTO as two super countries still valid? In demo they are the strat to quickly conquer resources and control over the globe.
