      Dana Farley Hi :) I put T10 with 20 developer, after bleaching the roots and ended way too ashy. Would you know what can i do to go back to T11 or more golden blonde without going orange/too yellow? This question is for everyone who can help, Lol. I’m going to Brazil end of December and I’m going nuts over this super ashy color I put on. Thanks in advance! Xo

    I just wanted to say thank you for sharing all of these videos on bleaching, toning and your general hair experiences. I never felt confident bleaching my hair at home but the salon got so ridiculous with their prices that I couldnt keep up with the blonde anymore. Also, for the price I paid, my hair would SOMETIMES come out the way I wanted. I found your videos and I took a leap of faith. within 2 weeks I got my hair back to the color I absolutely adore and found products that really make my hair feel healthy and happy while I give it a rest. I feel confident I can keep my hair the way I love now at a fraction of the cost it did before. Thank you so much! Your videos have been a lifesaver for me :)

    Hi, I just wanted to say a huge Thank You, after watching this video, I used the T11 yesterday. I bleached my roots and being over cautious as usual, I washed off too early! I noticed the roots were not pale yellow, more a bad custard color, plus the rest of my hair had a few different tones from the bleach where it had touched. I have to admit I was skeptical about using the T11, to cover up this mess. But, I left the T11 on for 25 minutes, after watching your video a few times and your comments that the brown didn't stay, and I can say with happiness that this little magic potion in a bottle, actually turned all of my hair the same color in the most wonderful light beige blonde.
    I have used T18 a few times but hated the purple haze it leaves behind, I also use Fudge, clean blonde conditioner as I find this is the only one that doesn't leave the purple haze behind, as its color is fairly light.
    So thank you again, for the wonderful video, it was make or break yesterday, I wondered how I would go out of the house with the color I had, before using the T11.
    Could you do a video on intense hair treatments in the future, especially for us blondes :)

    I appreciate your videos so much girl as I am a total newbie when it comes to dying my hair. Long story short I had my dyed at a salon and it pulled so much yellow...think corn yellow. I wasn’t happy with it even after they guy toned it. So after a couple hundred TH-cam videos later I found yours! I trucked it to Sally’s and got the Wella T11 toner. Have to tell you I was super nervous about the whole process. Almost dyed from the fumes...that stuff is strong. But I absolutely am in LOVE with the results. Only thing I changed was to use a 10 volume developer. Thanks so much for imparting your knowledge and know how. Much love ❤️

    I used to work at Sally's, and you're exactly right, that "bond therapy" by Ion is exactly that. It's version of Olaplex.
    The only downside, that I've noticed, using that is that it's like half full when you originally buy it. I have the spray as well, and basically douse my hair in that.

    For some reason, the t11 tints my hair ends to be a greenish/grey color. I used it with the T18 (which worked for getting my hair more "white" on it's own), but the t11 adds a dustier shade that I'm not soo fond of. It doesn't seem to affect the freshly bleached roots, just the ends that have been bleached and colored before.

    I had watched this video before and then I went out and bought T11. I haven't done it yet, because I have to bleach first, like I have before. That time I used T28 toner and it was a bit too yellow for me but after washing it with Fonolo no yellow hair shampoo and leaving it on for about 15 minutes, it was perfect! But, my hair is virgin dark brown again and I will be doing the whole double process again but this time I will use T11. I have never used T18 and I had planned to use both T11 with T18, but I was afraid if it looking too ashy, or white and since I am in the older side, I didn't want it to look like I just aged..lol...thanks, your hair looks great!!!!. If my hair turns out like this, I will be thrilled! Thanks 👍 and I did subscribe...🤗

Let’s just say t18 gave me more of a 27/613 mixed type color and I just wasn’t happy I wanted more of a pale more or a cool more of white blonde but it was almost impossible ! I almost gave up on my hair being blonde until I had an extra bottle of t11 sitting around that I used to tone some bundles that didn’t come out the blonde I would like ! I would so scared but I bleached my hair again and then applied the t11 I was almost out of 20’developer so I had to use some 30 and it came out perfect thank you !

    That Ion version of Olaplex also comes in a "step 1" vial that you could add to the toner right when you're about to put it in the rest of your after you're done with your roots. Then follow up with the step 2. I love watching you dye/tone/touch up your hair lol please always film it!! So we can see the results each time you try a different toner or toner combo!

  • @HRHDMKYT

    Huh... I just watched a few videos where they used Wella T18, and left it on for 30 minutes. When I went to the beauty supply store, I almost bought the T14, thinking I don't really want my hair to look "silver" (my hair is currently yellow, because I think what I thought was a home hair colour kit was actually home bleach kit). But the lady who runs the shop told me the T14 just seems to take away the 'shine' and makes the colour appear "muddy", and I don't want that, so I bought the T18. But maybe my compromise will be to leave on the toner for only 15 minutes, and then wash it off. If it's still too yellow, I can always go back and get another bottle of T18 in a couple of days... at CDN$7/bottle, it's worth experimenting. Thanks for your video, Jess -- very helpful to me today, in my panic with yellow hair! Hoping to tone down the brassiness.
    ~Diana from Canada
    p.s. I also like that you just used a squeezy bottle, and it turned out just lovely. I bought the balliage brush and plan to use it with a margarine container, but it's tricky to do that to your own hair vs. someone else's, so I may be all thumbs. If I have to do it again, I may just use a squeeze bottle like you did!

    You're so lucky your hair takes so well to this stuff. I've tried all different things (including getting it done at salons) to try and get it a platinum or ash blonde. All different toners, bleaches, hair colors, purple shampoos, etc., and it will just stay yellow or gold. I don't really get it, because my hair isn't naturally that dark, about a level 6. I'm part Irish, so I have a lot of underlying red pigment, but a lot of people have that and don't have this much trouble. I may try that bond therapy or this new aphogee treatment I've seen and see what happens. I guess one good thing about having such stubborn hair is that it doesn't get damaged easily.

Left on for 2 minutes and it still has some yellow, particularly on lower section of hair. After you did the T11 toner, when your hair was wet, was it still darker than your roots? Hi Jess I’m wondering if you have used the T35? My hair is super light like yours. The T18 always turns it purple and uneven. It doesn’t matter whether I leave it on for 5 minutes or 20... it never turns out pretty anymore lol my hair is just too light for it and I am actually wanting to darken up my blonde a bit so I picked up the T35. Only thing I’m worried about is it going TOO dark since my hair tends to do that lol help!
    P.S. I’ve been doing my own hair my whole life. I know exactly how to mix, apply and use these toners. For some reason the T18 just doesn’t like my hair anymore lol I do like how yours turned out here with the T11. But my hair needs a break. If I can darken it a little bit with a toner and just let it fade and eventually just grow out that would be amazing but I am weary.

    Hi Jess.....love your informative videos!!!! I have a couple of questions for you. Could you tell me which toner would give me more of a gold blonde? I am a natural blonde, just has gotten darker over the years. I bleached my hair, turned out a level 10 with both yellow and orange. So your best guess as to how I can achieve more of a light golden blonde. I too have very pale skin, and you mention something about make-up. Can you tell me where to find those videos? Thanks so much, Janet

    Question ....
    you might not know hahah! But, I bleached my hair and it's a pale yellow. Toner helps but it's not gone.. anyways. I am joining the Army and, I am not allowed to have unnatural looking hair and they will make me go brunette again if it's not fixed. Can I put a blonde PERMANENT dye from say, like Ion on top instead of a toner? Because toner washes out, and I won't be able to use toner at all for 3-4 months.. thanks.

    • @somegirljesskent
      @somegirljesskent  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Army Belle the short answer is yes, as long as it is the same level or darker than what you currently have. I would suggest a level 9 colour. I'd also suggest a demi permanent colour (which uses 10 vol developer) for less damage.

      somegirljess what toner should I used i have spots that are light orange and I just went to the salon and he gave me some ash highlights only where I have my roots and I would like to even my roots with the rest off my hair so what should I do? Should I just used a toner or do I have to bleach it? Pls give a advice thank you

    • @somegirljesskent
      @somegirljesskent  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nuria Flores I'm not a professional so I'm not really sure! My best advice is go to a professional to lighten some of the darker and brassy parts to match the lighter areas. Otherwise, I'd put like a level 7 or 8 (dark/medium blonde) colour all over to even it out. Sorry I can't help more!!

    FYI I recommend use 10 volume not 2o is nor necessarily needed cause toner only deposits no lift is needed. Just dries your hair out more after bleaching.

    I have a question! I want to tone my hair, I'll probably do what you did in the video here mixing the toners. However, my roots are a dark blonde. Am I supposed to bleach them before I dye my whole head? Will the toner match better with the rest of my hair if I bleach my roots?

  • @ooohlaa13

    Next time you do the toner and add the developer, put a sharpie marker line on the applicator bottle where the liquid ends, then next time and thereafter you don't have to fill the toner bottle twice, just pour developer up to the line, probably saves a few seconds of precious time, and a few drops of wasted developer left in the original toner bottle.

    I bleached my hair a couple of days back and it's all golden i need it fix fast! To put the wella t11 toner is the hair suppose the be wet or can it be dry? Or are the results better if it wet?
    Also most importantly I don't know how much of the wella t11 I'll need my hairs just a couple inches longer than yours did you use up the entire product mixture with no problem or did you have some left over?

      @somegirljesskent  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use exactly one bottle for my hair so you might want to get 2 to be safe. That being said, doing it on damp hair means you use less product (well, it spreads easier so you don't have to use as much). I believe the directions do say to use on damp hair. I shower, towel dry, wait 5-10 minutes. Then apply.

    Hi Jess
    :)
    Before I’d like to say that i love you channel and I’m always trying to watch all of your videos, specially about hairs/colors/style...
    I gotta a question, please;
    I put T10 with 20 developer, after bleaching the roots and ended way too ashy. Would you know what can i do to go back to T11 or more golden blonde without going orange/too yellow? This question is for everyone who can help, Lol. I’m going to Brazil end of December and I’m going nuts over this super ashy color I put on. Thanks in advance! Xo

    • @somegirljesskent
      @somegirljesskent  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michelle C. These toners aren't permanent like they say they are, so honestly my best advice is just wash your hair a lot and it will fade. Your other option is a "bleach bath" where you add shampoo to your bleach mixture to dilute it, and apply to your hair for about 5 minutes, just enough to lift the ashy toner. Make sure you don't get this on any natural roots. Hope this helps!!

    Hi, Jess! I wanted to ask what brand the precolor Treatment? I really want to use it!

  • @idontusethisever
    @idontusethisever 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Jess! So I have ashy blonde hair naturally and right now it's more of a golden blonde after I dyed it with a ammonia-free box dye a few months ago. You can see my current color in my icon picture. I want to dye it platinum blonde from home but I have a hard time (anxiety) because last time I went platinum at the salon my hair was completely ruined. It took me about 2 years to grow out and now it is at a decent enough length (past my shoulders) to where I feel comfortable dyeing it. I am scared to bleach it because I don't want it to be completely fried again. It was in serious shape! Do you think I would be able to possibly use a wella toner with 15 volume to succeed a light platinum color? Without pre-bleaching it? Possibly the t-11 or something? I just don't want it to become super damaged and I know bleaching my entire head would probably kill me. I want to get it as light as possible and avoid bleach if I can. Let me know if you have any recommendations. Thanks!

    • @somegirljesskent
      @somegirljesskent  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ashley CC hey Ashley! It is not possible to get platinum blonde with just a toner. Toners do not lighten hair, they just change the tone of the level you already have. Wella t18 and t11 (and t10) only work on hair that is already bright blonde. Your only option to go lighter is to bleach it first. The higher the volume of developer, the
      More lift you will get. However the higher volumes also mean more damage. I would recommend 20 or 30 volume developer with powder bleach, followed by a toner or demi permanent colour depending what level you reach. If you reach a bright yellow, wella t28 or any demi permanent colour that is a level 9 will do. If you right very very light pastel yellow, you can use wella t18 or t11. As far as damage goes, obviously bleach will damage your hair but that is also a risk that you'll take when you want to go lighter so I guess that's up to you! I also advise people to do a test chunk of hair underneath before they do the whole head, just to be sure that your hair doesn't turn out fried (or a funky colour).

    • @idontusethisever
      @idontusethisever 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much Jess!! My hair is actually lighter than it looks in that picture. Would a 15 vol developer work to lighten it? I know 15 and 20 are a little better on your hair than a 30 or 40 developer. Also do you have any bleach suggestions as well as developer suggestions? I know you have used sparks bleach with ion's sensitive scalp developer but I was curious if those are still your go-to. Also if I do bleach it, how long should I leave it on for? I know you are not a professional but any tips would help because I've never bleached from home (I've only used box dyes) Thanks :)

    • @somegirljesskent
      @somegirljesskent  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ashley CC hi! I would go with the 20 vol. the 15 is somewhere in the middle between no lift (10) and minimal lift (20) so I don't think you'd get more than 1 ish level of lift with 15. I almost always use the Ion developer, and I also like the wella powder lightener :). I would recommend leaving it on for minimum 20
      minutes, but you can leave it on up to 40 minutes. definitely keep checking it though - when I do mine, I legit sit in the bathroom in front of a mirror haha that way when I can keep an eye on it. But be warned, it always looks lighter with the bleach on it. So I scrape some bleach off a little section with my nails so I can actually see what's under the white bleach. Also make sure that you make enough bleach to cover your whole head...get two packs of bleach and have enough developer for both just in case. And when you are sectioning and applying the bleach, make sure you are going in thin and very neat sections to be sure you don't miss spots. And if you have hair dye on any parts, like say your ends, apply bleach to those parts first before you get your roots - this is because it'll take longer and more power to lift pre existing colour vs. Your natural colour. Good luck! Oh and set up a mirror in front and back of you haha it's pretty hairs otherwise to see the back 😊

    • @idontusethisever
      @idontusethisever 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Omg thank you so much!!! One last question!!! Is the lightening powder from wella bleach? I know some "lightening" products (I think you have used one before possibly by ion) don't contain bleach. Is the wella lightening powder just a regular bleach? Also if I get the wella lightening powder, which toner do you think would be best? I know the t18 can turn hair silver and that is definitely not what I'm looking for haha!! Let me know :) I will for sure do a strand test first because I grew my hair out and don't want to ruin it again like I did a few years ago!!

    T11 is my go-to...love it. But still trying to figure out the perfect length of time to leave it on. I have so much hair it takes a solid 5, almost 10 minutes to apply...do you time from when you start, or when you finish applying?

    • @somegirljesskent
      @somegirljesskent  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      KJ Konkin funny enough I usually start roughly timing after I'm part way through applying. I'd say 5 minutes after I finish applying to the roots.

    • @cjk7269
      @cjk7269 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      somegirljess what would happen if you left it on too long? Fall out, dry out turn purple??? All things that happened to me in one way or another. Approx what is the total time you left the product in your hair? I think mine was so messed up, was bc I was scared and didn't leave it on long enough, lol. Thanks!!!

    • @somegirljesskent
      @somegirljesskent  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kathryn Harder I only left mine in for 2 minutes after I finished applying it all over. For me, if I left it in for too long then my hair would go darker than I want and it would be find of dull. My hair would get over toned and might also turn the undertone of the toner...aka grey or purple. My hair has never fallen out or anything like that from just toner

    Do you have Well Water? I know Wella is basically the only brand that makes a shampoo and conditioner for both Well Water and Chlorine (I used it when I lifeguarded, but fried my hair, so Wella was always something that freaked me out.)
    I'm curious bc I am afraid that I may tone my hair into the reds (or even brassier) shades when what I want is the color that came out in your video. We also have the same shades of skin and root color, that's why I wanted to check if Well Water was what was causing your brassiness.
