- Jóhann Jóhannsson presents “A Song for Europa” from his highly anticipated new studio album - the first in 6 years! Orphée traces a path from darkness into light, inspired by the Orpheus myth. A story about death and rebirth, the elusive nature of creation and art and the ephemeral nature of memory. It's an album about change, love and art - a reflection of our relationships, as is the film Flight from the City directed and produced by Clare Langan.

Did i hear the Swedish Rhapsody in this music? If so, Johann was truly a genius for combining the audio record and music so perfectly.

For anyone wondering, this piece is part of a larger collective of songs from the album Orphée. Majority of the music follows this motif and creates an other worldly experience for the listener. The final track is an amazing closer and when I first heard it, it cemented my love for this album.
Highly recommend for a quiet night right before sleeping.

I was just listening to his music last night and wondering what he would come up with next. He had a very unique sound that will be missed in film and music. So many talented people have been passing away the last couple of years. I wish the best for his friends and family.

I'll do you one better; The sample of the German girl is entirely synthesised and is taken from recordings of the infamous German Stazi Operative AM broadcast operatives' number station, titled "The Swedish Rhapsody". the station itself was active up until the fall of the Berlin wall.
In a poetic wall, I feel this song pays homage to the unification of Europe after that day, rather fitting.

I could hear a mixture of Swedish and German numbers. I’m sure I heard ‘fyra’ (Swedish for ‘four’). But I absolutely love this track. It gave me chills from the moment I heard it.
