    I have the G10 version and have been happy with it. I own a lot of crossbar lock knives and they did a good job with it. Its not quite Kizer smooth, but very good. Super utilitarian build with this, and although a bit small, highly functional

    Love at first sight. After seeing Zaks demonstration and hearing the Yonder story, bought two of them. If Zak makes larger Yonder, I'll probably by few of those for stocking stuffers.

    I'd like a video or 2 on the premise of: When should I spend more than $50 or $100 for a pocket knife or fixed blade. - Not so much specific knives but what to look for that makes the price worth it.

      I mean… you look for good, well executed materials and steels for the price coupled with build quality. Paying more generally nets you better blade steel, more premium scale materials, between manufacturers potentially better machining and manufacturing, or a combination of all 3.
      There is no general rule of thumb as what different people want from their knives is incredibly, incredibly subjective
      For 50-100 which is already a pretty wide price range when it comes to knives, and is by far the densest and most saturated market segment for knives, it’s almost impossible to buy a bad knife from a reputable manufacturer.

    I bought the micarta handled knife and love it. You can't beat it for the price. Better than the Mini-Grip or the Pyrite.

    Good video, I like the filming aesthetic, easy to watch. I listened to Zac's story about the development of the knife, and I can dig it. I like the design, and I think I will pick one up in the future. As I keep trying out different knives to hone in my preferences, I'm drawn to a crossbar lock due to the ambi-nature of the lock (I'm a lefty), the fact that the lock itself is an opening method, the strength, etc. I can tell that this is going to be a huge hit, it just has a good vibe to it that I think can speak to a lot of people. When I get one, I'm probably going to grind in a choke position since that is a bit of dead space to me, and it will make the handle feel bigger than it is, and maybe make some custom wood scales for it as well. This one is a homerun for both Civivi and Zac.

    I don’t buy knives as much anymore because I find my Spyderco para 2 and 3 are the only knives I end up carrying. However, I really am a fan of Zack’s content so I’m definitely buying the Yonder to support him. It’s also a good looking knife; something I would definitely like carrying.

    From time to time someone I know will ask for recommendations - people new to carrying knives, EDC, etc. There have been a couple of Civivis that I've suggested in the past and I wouldn't hesitate to point someone to the Yonder. That damascus version though... I think I've got to get me one for myself.

    Hey I was looking to buy my first pocket knife do you think I should get the civivi praxis polished ultem for $59 or the bench made bugout mini mesa red for $106 what’s better value?

    • @MarineX
      @MarineX  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The praxis is better value and better to learn to sharpen knives with. If you jack up the sharpening, you've spent less money. Although Benchmade has free sharpening, you have to send it to them

    • @the_swinging_axe
      @the_swinging_axe 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Ultem tends to crack under pressure or in contact with loctite. I'd get it in g10 or micarta.

    How is the crossbar? They released the Yonder and the We Banter 2 as their first crossbar knives. I am always wary of the first knife with a new lock. The Yonder and Banter 2 are almost exactly the same size. Just a slight variation in handle and blade shape. Banter 2 is $135 with S35VN. Yonder is half that with 14c28n and seems like a much better value.

    "Damascus" is a misnomer. Especially since very few knifes are made in Damascus.🤣 A more correct term is laminated steel. Which was created for swords for strength and because high quality steel was in short supply, so they would only make the core of the sword out of quality steel. With the plethora of steels available today, laminated steel is purely aesthetic.

    I like it!!! But really how is it any different than the Vosteed Racoon, Bestechman Cicada’s Wing other than steel on that one and numerous other knives that look the same? That’s why I don’t understand the award winning or him going off to the woods to conjure up the design. It’s been done over and over again. I’d still buy it but it’s nothing original or different. With that being the design has always worked well.

    • @flapxjackson
      @flapxjackson 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I agree with the bit of nothing original or different. I know it’s hard to design something that stands out. It looks like a well designed tool. But it looks a lot of knives out there.

    Great design, great uuhhhh. Too damn small. Why does everyone always have to make these great looking knives so dedgum small? Make one called the yonder yonder at least with a 4"+ handle with at least a 3.25" blade. Y'all don't know anything bout "yonder" unless you're from GA or AL.
