You actually dont want to let your brush fully sit in warm water. It will weaken/soften the glue inside the ferrule and the bristles will warp or fall out.
There were some techniques used that combined with a few other can create nice faux stone walls. But it takes several coats with separate techniques or you're painting it solid and starting over.
