- Cheers for watching, super easy mod that everyone can without a doubt do at home!
big thanks to Joao AVR and his video, didn’t even know these existed prior to seeing it, just figured i’d make my own video for the english speaking audience.

It took around 6 days to arrive from china so nothing too crazy. Cost £8.74 at the time of filming.
Watching all the way from South Africa. loving your channel, i recently started building my 9N3. Hopefully you'll keep posting more videos about mods
great stuff, really glad to hear it mate. i’ll definitely keep the mods up! 👍

Fantastic job 👏
3 questions please:
Cigarette lighter still works?
Also,what Pioneer radio you have?
Do you have an installation video for it? 😁
Thanks Tom, I've ordered 7 and will have one in every slot 👍
Haha nice, enough power for a family
😂😂 living the dream mate
amazing just ordered mine, never knew these existed
nor did i mate, crazy value for under £9!
got mine for £6 @@tomharvey 😉
Is there any chance you’d be able to wire it up to the head unit so you can have car play to work while plugged in instead of wiring it to the cigarette port?
yeah that’s definitely possible.
Im waiting for mine to be delivered. But ill be deleting the cigarette lighter and replacing it with a usb/aux extention socket with the usb connected into the stereos android auto lead. So to plug in aux or android auto ill essentially be plugging my phone into the cig lighter :') hoping it looks ok but for the ali express prices its worth a shot
Brilliant mate, you’ll have to let me know how you get the usb connection working!
Great stuff Tom definitely needed, any chance you could do a video on how u added the screen car play and where I could get one much appreciated thanks
mines a pioneer sph-da120, the install is stupidly easy tho, just get a halfords adapter harness and it slots right in.
@tomharvey how did you get the OG radio out. Buggered if mine will just pop out as I'm told it should!
just grabbed a set of cheap radio keys off of ebay, mine came straight out, just make sure to insert the keys all the way in 👍
@@tomharveydo you know what adapter it is thanks?
VAG halfords adapter

Great video, what kind of radio did you install?
i believe it was a pioneer sph-da120 at the time of filming
can i please get the model of your headunit
its a pioneer SPH-DA120, it has wired apple carplay and bluetooth etc, but no DAB.
Cheers Tom, do you know how many Amps those ports will do?
Not a clue, sorry lad
Tom mate I have dummy switches in those ports I’ve found a generic on off switch. I want to install that switch so that my interior LEDs turn on and off with that switch have you got an idea how to do that mate?
sorry mate i dont quite understand, i’m taking it as you’ve got interior LEDS which aren’t part of the factory sunvisor/ switchboard setup.
i’d just run it off of a piggyback fuse from the fusebox, use a local ground wherever’s convenient, then just run the live wire through the switch so it switches on/ off
Done this to my 9n3 today, great little mod! Would love to connect it to my stereo for data tho, do you know what part of the loom is for data, or how I can connect that up? Cheers.
Hiya mate, great stuff they’re really convenient aren’t they. So just from looking at the loom i could see that on the little plugs that connect to the back of the ports (the two smallest connectors in the kit) there was four holes for wires, but only three were filled, i reckon the three being illumination, ground and power. If you hacked up a normal usb lead and figured out which cable carried the data, i reckon you could splice the two together and effectively pin-in the data connection into this kit. Hope this clears up what i said.
@@tomharvey Legend, thank you very much, will definitely have a look at doing that!
@@calumhaywardgood luck mate! keep us posted will ya?
@@tomharvey How you doing? Never had time to connect the data port to the stereo in the end, found out which wire was responsible for data connection, just never found time to actually go through with wiring it up. Ended up buying another USB port for a different car, which was made to be plugged into the stereo, swapped the cables around. Only costed £10 on AliExpress, for both the ports, and saved me the time of trying to wire it up myself.
@@calumhayward yeah not too bad mate, yourself? and yeah that definitely sounds easier, considered doing that meself but i quite like the stealth “out the back” cable run, ive ran it into the storage tray bit under the steering wheel where i pop my phone, the usb port in this vid is ideal for passengers tho imo 👍
Hey you mind me asking where you pulled the AC controls from? Mine are all battered and the ones you got look really nice!! :)
Hiya mate, they’re just from a polo 6R SEL spec. The actual knobs themselves are a straight swap into a 9n/3, just pull out.
Just make sure to also transfer the clear plastic piece from the 6R ones, as the 9n one leaves them feeling pretty tight.
The headlight switch is a straight swap though, plug and play.
Hello, are the cables included or I have to get them elsewhere?
Thanks
All comes with that little kit mate, thats what blew me away the most, no idea how they can turn a profit with it being so cheap 😂
I have a question, is the cigarette port removed?
no mate, it is simply splitting power from it
@@tomharvey after you took out the power, how will the port cigarette work
@@t.c.gamers4235 please watch the video again, it piggybacks power off of the cigarette port, i explain it.
Mine is falling out every time can
hiya mate, maybe try a dab of super glue, or a bit of electrical tape on the top and bottom to wedge it in better.
@@tomharvey ok thanks I’ll try it
@@tomharvey post new videos that would be great
that will be listening to your every move now...
if they wanna track where joe average is going then they can feel free, all they’ll see is me going to the bloody shops 😂
Hiya. Just in my car finishing this but the whole thing comes out every time i try to unplug the usb. Any ideas on how to make it stay in place?
maybe a dab of super glue if you’re not fussed about removing it often? should be able to snap the glue fairly easily if you do ever need to. another option is to wrap the ends in some electrical tape to thicken it up then ram it into place.
@@tomharveyi like your thinking
Got the bodger's mindset 🤣
@@tomharvey I ended up using a hot gun glue. Put a dab of glue to on the actual piece to make it thicker, let it dry and fitted it
How do I find this item on Aliexpress?
its all in the description mate.

@@tomharvey ahh Sorry, I'm just slack 😅
@@alintad9969no worries man, glad i could help 👍
do you have to disconnect the battery for this?
i wouldn’t say so, i didn’t and had no adverse implications, but maybe read the install manual if you wanna be extra safe.
