Slight correction. Quincy Jones was THE legend, bar none. For us Canadians this track Soul Bossa Nova was quintessential. Not only was it used for Austin Powers (starring Canadian Mike Myers) it was the theme for the longest running Canadian game show Definition. Finally it was sampled by Canadian hip hop duo Dream Warriors in their hit My Definition Of A Boombastic Jazz Style th-cam.com/video/LoE5yHMrP0A/w-d-xo.html
Came here thinking just this! Back when this film came out it wasnt so easy to find pictures of people not already on TV or movies as actors or "camera facing". So glad he did a Cameo and I could remember it!
Always remembered this scene fondly growing up. Sad to hear the great Quincy Jones has passed 💔😢 He’s lived an extraordinary life. Rest in peace to one of the best 🎶🕊️

How ironic is it that the movie most people consider the weakest of the trilogy is also the one that features the best, most hilarious opening 'Soul Bossa Nova' scene?
speak for yourself my man (or girl or friend beyond the binary.) While the first is a classic i think the third deserves AT LEAST a solid second-place spot. (I'd give the second a low 7/10 leaning toward a heavy 6.5)
I feel like even the guys making the movie didn't know how goddamned funny it is that Spielberg starts flipping around because that's the funniest thing about this scene.
Rest in Peace to you Quincy Jones 1933-2024 He will be missed as a music producer & singer rip to you 🙏 💔 😢 ❤️ 😔 💙 🙏 He will be remembered doing the Austin Powers Theme
RIP Quincy...you inspired me in many ways. Thanks for the music and calling Eddie Van Halen! Sure Michael thought that was a good move too. Can I work with you, Eddie and Michael when I catch up to you three?
The official theme tune to Austin Powers is "Number One Spot" by Illinois-born Atlanta rapper Ludacris from his album "Red Light District", the Austin Powers-themed music video had Quincy Jones (RIP), my mom's boyfriend has a CD of that album
That's the whole point. Austin Powers IS a parody of James Bond. Thank you, Sir Michael Myers. You've inspired me to do something quite revolutionary. I'd like a study done on newborns to 2 year olds. FMRI scans of the brain to see a response. Hypothesis: If the infant is exposed to photographs of people doing normal things in clothes versus doing normal things nude, the baby finds the nude photos less confusing and more rational. Also, certain former Knights of England won't stop being Knights. I'm upgrading the Titles to Knights of The People. So, Sir Winston Churchill, Knight of The People. If they're still breathing, we'll see what they've done, I suppose
Kind of ironic but sad did they predict the conservitorship? It may not seem like it but never know it makes more sense to me she was used like a robot in a way glad britney has more rights though.
1:15 RIP Quincy Jones (March 14, 1933 - November 3, 2024), aged 91

We all came to write the same thing🖤

R.I.P, Quincy Jones. Nice to know I'm not the only one who remembers his Austin Powers contributions.
Came here thinking just this! Back when this film came out it wasnt so easy to find pictures of people not already on TV or movies as actors or "camera facing". So glad he did a Cameo and I could remember it!

R.I.P Quincy Jones. This was the first thing I thought of. You conduct the orchestra full of angels now, my good sir.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Quincy Jones!"
RIP Quincy Jones. Your music was legendary, and we will never forget you.
I just want a full version of the music that Quincy Jones was doing in this. Seriously that arrangement sounded great.
Did anyone ever find this?

I have been looking for that for years. It's a variation of the original, with the Oriental textures and lyrical flourishes. I'll keep digging.
When Spielberg gets up and does those flips, gets me everytime 😂
Wait... HE... DID... WHAT?!?!
Hahaha IKR that shit cracked me up!!
If you closely Gwyneth Paltrow’s wig comes off as she does her flips.
I absolutely adore how unapologetically silly and cartoonishly fourth-wall breaking the Austin Powers movies are.
People need the appreciate that kind of humor... NOW !!!
It was a legendary time

Rest In Peace, Quincy.
Thank you Quincy Jones for creating beautiful music and iconic songs that we still enjoy today❤️
1:15 RIP to the GOAT of music
I honestly don't see how goldmembers is the worst film of the trilogy? It's my favourite for these absurd little gags like these that make it great
The first 20mins is solid but it really falls apart.
This makes me feel better when I’m in a bad mood.
This checks out. I'm feeling like an absolute oxygen thief right now.
How ironic is it that the movie most people consider the weakest of the trilogy is also the one that features the best, most hilarious opening 'Soul Bossa Nova' scene?
Really, this is considered the weakest? I love all three movies equally.
I like Goldmember the most as found it the funniest.
speak for yourself my man (or girl or friend beyond the binary.) While the first is a classic i think the third deserves AT LEAST a solid second-place spot. (I'd give the second a low 7/10 leaning toward a heavy 6.5)
settle down Roger Ebert... haha na I agree good assessment
Tobar TheFerryman nah, I would have to go for the second one, it was the first one I saw and will always have a special place in my heart
