Snake River Whitewater Rafting - Jackson Hole - Lunch Counter Rapid

Stern mount oar/paddle boat with the Snake River near Jackson Hole, Wyoming running about 8000 CFS. Lunch Counter rapid is one of the largest rapids in the Snake River Canyon! This rapid has a large wave that p[people on surf boards like to ride (none seen this day). The wave bake over the boat was large enough to get everyone wet!

Its an easy stretch of water and is real pretty. You will have a blast at Lunch Counter in your kayak! Eddy out below it on the left, hike back up, do it again, or surf the big wave! Your biggest obstacle will be all the rent-a-boat crowd - the ones who straddle their tubes, take a swim, and basically flail down the river - and commercial outfitters. Its a busy river!

That has to be frustrating for the guide lol

They didn't listen to the guide, and almost ran into those rocks. White water rafting is more challenging than people realize.

Yes, this was near Jackson, WY. About 20-25 miles south of Jackson on the Snake River. Most of the rafting businesses that run this section are based out of Jackson, too.The section that has Lunch Counter rapid which is this video clip is the most popular run...and yes, it is really fun!
