People have said this moment is cringe, but you know what, there's nothing I respect more about the FF7 Remake team than that they were willing to not only keep the goofy stuff in the og FF7, but crank it up to 11.
I haven’t played the remake yet (maybe when all parts are released and it’s in a sale I will), but I didn’t cringe to this. I think it gives character and charm to the game. There’s nothing worse than a boring and “safe” game.
Yeah, the new stuff back in ff7 remake were kinda bland, it tries itself to be serious yet fail to execute it. What makes ff7 so great are the fun, wacky moments. So glad ff7 rebirth embraced those moments.
To quote streamer Kyle Fergusson of Grinding Gear: > "Sci-Fi/Fantasy is the best when ridiculous things are happening and it’s played completely straight."

Red emulating Scooby Doo and it unironically working is *priceless* Now all we need is for Tifa to start yelling : " COSTA DEL CATION!!" and we're *golden*
At first I was disappointed, that he didnt get to wear the Uniform at the ceremony like in the original. But THAT SCENE was pure joy and made the whole joke from the original game much better!
I love this kind of shit in my animes/games. I love seeing the party interact through comical events and build rapport. Sure we gotta save the world but there's a card tournament to win!
So grace and smoth moves, i didn't see such ability since Kiryu destroyed Kamurocho discos dance floor a long time ago. THunderhead really did almost lose if he did also get his moves back there. Edit: But really, this is the kinda of thing that make this games such a master piece, this mini card game reminds me of FF8 one, hope this is a signal of the possibelity of a remake in near future and Red mantain the illusion even when they not watching, such a master of desguise indeed.
I have a doggo at home too and he can't spin like a beyblade, do triple axels or summon the frickin sun. I feel walking on 2 legs isn't the most over the top thing about red :p
dang, didn't know Red's got some dance moves, we should be lucky there isn't a Smash Bros dancing game, otherwise he would be the go to character to boogie down with.
This part took me by surprise as it was legitimately funny. They really nailed the comedy aspects of this game which they failed at in Remake. Red XII as a whole is just full of hilarious little one liners though, they really improved his character 300% between the original game and the remake trilogy

After learning nanaki’s actual age (and yes I’m using his real name, the games how old now so spoiler don’t mean shit) this scene makes more sense to me for why he’d go through so such lengths just to join a card game
And here I was thinking they couldn't top the Honey Bee Inn bit from Remake...how wrong I was, lol. Moon-walking Red XII Michael Jackson impression and over-the-top Yu-Gi-Oh antics were not on my bingo card.
This payoff after seeing Red go full Karen after not being allowed into the tournament was beyond my wildest imagination, and this music for an optional card game side quest has *no right* to go this hard!

Square: " "You damn right, he's gonna moonwalk"

Red channeling both Scooby Doo and Michael Jackson and Cloud pulling a "Its Time to Duel!" Yugi vibes lol.
A powerful new entity was thus born.
And Puss in Boots "Face me, if you dare."
They even used a facsimile of "Bad"'s bassline. what even is this timeline
The fact that he knows he can't quite pass for a normal person, so he covers it up by acting flamboyant is so adorable.

Yes, FF VII was cringe before cringe existed, this is something the remake did very well.
Let them call it cringe.

Glad they remembered that Cloud is secretly a huge dork.
Barrett sang the theme outloud a lot in the first game. Maybe Cloud picked it up from him.
god I love this - its so small and if youre playing without a headset you might not even hear it - but it happened and its important to Cloud lmao
Barret and Yuffie did it as well, nobody can get enough of the victory theme.
