My husband has just walked in while I am watching this and he has just said to me, "What is it with you lot and sprayed edges??" which made me laugh far more than it should have done. I really need to go to Edinburgh. I really do love finding a book I have never heard of! Like you say, it doesn't happen often!
I love the design of a lot of the shops you went to, especially Argonaut. Their choice of having shelves on wheels is genius. Definitely makes sure that their books catch your eye.
Yay I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip to Edinburgh and got to visit some of the lesser known/newer indie bookshops! Argonaut books is so underrated and it's probably my favourite in the city.
Is it healthy to live vicariously through videos like this while on a buying ban? I mean probably not, BUT these bookshops are gorgeous and I simply can’t be allowed in one in real life or else my ban will be over instantly 😅 Danes Smith’s poetry is lovely! I’m not always a fan of sprayed edges but the Lesbiana’s Guide edges are beyond stunning-I’ve never seen them done so colorfully. I hope you love all the books from your haul when you get to them!!♥️
I understand! It always takes me a solid two-ish months before I can stomach being in a bookshop while on a buying ban without wanting to buy something! I've since read some of these and loved Danez Smith's poetry. 🤎
This was just delightful! So many beautiful bookshops 😍 I don’t think I’ve been in a bookshop all year, which must be some kind of personal record for me. Thanks for a great video!
What a great selection. Love the details like bookshelves on wheels and ladders. As if the one book you were looking for was just out of reach! Hope you can get hold of it soon.
Edinburgh has the best independent bookshops 💜 My favourites were Golden Hare, because the booksellers were so friendly, and I loved Rare Bird Books because the decor was so bright and colourful. There's a new independent bookshop opening soon in Birmingham which isn't too far from me and I'm so excited because we don't have many in the West Midlands!
Honestly, they have such good ones and so many of them as well! Booksellers being lovely make such a difference, right? Ahh I hope you love having a local indie and that it's wonderful when it opens 😍
I think there has a movie for this year called Origin about Isabel Wilkerson. Those rose spredges!! 😍 Great book haul lovely. Favourite independent bookshop is The Bell Bookshop that’s in Henley.
Ahh you went to Shrimpwreck too! 10/10 choice - although Civerino's has the MOST amazing truffle parmesan fries and giant pizza slices. I always struggle to decide which one I want
HOW did I not know this?! We must have been so close D: Yes, shrimpwreck! I actually don't like pizza which is why I probably didn't gravitate to civerino's, but good to know for friends in future 🌟
@@OliviasCatastrophe Literally about 15 mins max from my house haha! It's always a 50/50 as to if Shrimpwreck is open when I go but it's so good! I also adore Nobles arcade - that was my CHILDHOOD.
Looks like you had an amazing time! I almost went in January, but decided to wait a month or two so I could get more out of my days (sunset was at 4pm when I was looking!)
I was in Edinburgh in January and I missed off a few of these because we just didn't have time to do all of them! Next time I'll hit them up! Lighthouse books was soooo good! Topping was my favourite place in Edinburgh- I felt like I was in Beauty and the Beast's library!
It's hard to find time to do them all and Edinburgh how so many indie bookshops to choose from! The beauty and the beast library vibes were truly captured in toppings 🌸
@OliviasCatastrophe I have ordered it from Waterstones as The Lighthouse bookshop did not have any of the beautiful sprayed edges copies in at the moment. I emailed to ask after looking on the website .
When I think of the UK, I think of going to Glasgow or Edinburgh. I hope I survive the cold weather. 🥶 FYI, for those who are reading this, I am from the Philippines wherein the climate is humid, hot. 🏝🌞
When you showed A Little Resurrection I thought that it looked similar to Content Warning Everything - love that it's a whole collection like that! Ahh Argonaut! I'd never heard of them but went to an event hosted by them on Friday (though still haven't been in!) I love Topping & Co so much - did they offer you tea?! Did you get the chance to visit Armchair books?? It's my FAVOURITE - they sell secondhand books and antiques and I adore it.
Yess, I kind of want to collect all the poetry books like it now. Argonauts is one of my new favourites honestly. I want to go back already. Toppings and Co didn't but they were quite busy and I'd walked to all of these shops because I had so much time and decided to be fit, so I probably didn't look tea approachable by that point 😂 I didn't have time to make it to armchair books, even though it was on my list 😭
@@OliviasCatastrophe I need to actually visit argonauts but I'm rarely in that area of Leith during the day with time to browse. I'll need to make an effort! Hahaha valid. I think I've only been asked once and I was so confused I said no haha Oh that's so sad!! But a very good excuse to come back :D
I should research independent books shops here in Latvia, there must be some, even though none come in mind right now. I need to do a bookshop tour next time I go to UK.

Right?! I feel like it's an ingenious set up for a bookshop 😍
Yay I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip to Edinburgh and got to visit some of the lesser known/newer indie bookshops! Argonaut books is so underrated and it's probably my favourite in the city.
I think it might be my new favourite as well -- looking back it was my favourite of this trip 🌸
Bookshelves on wheels? That sounds so cool! Lovely video 🥰
Such a unique feature to a bookshop! 🌟
This made me miss my trip to Edinburgh. They have so so many great bookstores there.
They really do. I'm glad you got to visit as well 🌟
Wow, what great bookshops. Toppings and Rare Birds certainly caught my eye.
They were great! Definitely stop by them if you're ever in the area 🌸

The beach food looks so good 😭😭 Rare Birds Bookshop is so pretty!!
I have decided after rare birds bookshop that I need lavendar coloured bookshelves in the future 🌸
This was such a fun video! Argonaut's shifting shelves sound so so cool!!
It's such a fun concept for a bookshop 😊
This was just delightful! So many beautiful bookshops 😍 I don’t think I’ve been in a bookshop all year, which must be some kind of personal record for me. Thanks for a great video!
Amazing that you haven't been to one yet -- I hope you're enjoying what you're reading from your shelves/library meanwhile 🌟
Yes! I'm gearing up to do a vlog of the bookshops I visited in London and Glasgow on my recent trip!!
I'm looking forward to seeing that vlog!
@@OliviasCatastrophe
I loved getting to see all of these bookshops! Makes me want to visit them all!
Sounds like there may be a bookshop trip in your near future... 🌸
What a great selection. Love the details like bookshelves on wheels and ladders. As if the one book you were looking for was just out of reach! Hope you can get hold of it soon.
It was a shame but there's always another time! It didn't help that I walked between all the bookshops so I was really tired for sure 🌸
Oooh, sliding ladders sound so cool!
A bookworms dream! (even though I would never actually use mine) 🌟
All those bookshops looks AMAZING!!! 💜💜💜
It was such a fun day! 🌸
What cool looking bookshops! Glad you found some good books too.
It was a really nice trip 🌟
Love seeing this one day I will go there as it would be one of my dream places. Loved our London trip 😊💜
You should! It's a bookworm paradise 🌟

I loved getting to browse them 😇
Heather Gregg had lovely things to say about Toppings!!
It's such a lovely shop! 🌟
This was great and is making me want to visit Edinburgh again soon 😍💕
I miss it already as well 💖
Porty Books is essentially my local bookstore and it's wild seeing it on your channel!!

Argonauts does serve coffee and traybakes itself!
So good to know and thanks for correcting me! Are you happy for me to pin your comment? For other viewers

I hope you can find one or two to visit! There are so many good indies all across the UK to check out 🌸
