      Erm ... the player is not the guitar. The GUITAR sounds good, as you say. It has nothing to do with dude's fingering. Sorry to burst your bubble. It doesn't get my more simple than this, Mr. Adam.
      Exceptional tutorial, by the way.

    At 2:32, when you start with the G, to the F#, then the A, I'm doing exactly what I see your fingers are doing but it sounds completely different when I play it. Yes, my strings are all in tune. Do you know why it sounds different or may you tell what fingers are on what for that verse? :)

      +Jordan Dollente Haha no problem. These chords shapes mimic barre chords but easier to play and present a much more open sound. I've enjoyed working on this song over the last couple of days. Now about that Nashville Number system ha...

    • @nicolasolsonmusic5191
      @nicolasolsonmusic5191 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I'm completely new to guitar and I was wondering the same. Is he playing every note on the same strings, like it was a barre chord, and just not adding the barre or something else? The shapes of the three chords are really confusing to me as I am only a two week old guitar player lol

    • @NaijaBoiTellEm
      @NaijaBoiTellEm 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicolas Olson Haha if you are that new to guitar, this MAY be over your head. You are correct that chords that he is playing derive from barre chords (just incomplete ones). The key is to focus on the 'root' of the chord aka the note being created by his thumb on the 6th (Low E) string. It may be easier for you to do power chords since they are easier to form and are neither major or minor dependent.

    • @marioposella7677
      @marioposella7677 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Matthew Leung They're the scale steps for the key you're in. Most trained musicians relay chord progressions using the number sequence for the key they're in because it's much easier to remember 3-6-2-5-1 in C+ than e-, a-, d-, g(7), C+.

      Le Olaf He is playing the barre chord versions without barring any strings with his 1st finger and not pressing down on the high E and B. They are great sounding chords to get out of the norm of the standard. You can use this way for any chord you want to give it a new sound.

    • @gerret78

      search up d major scale
      It goes D, E, F#, G, A, B, C#, D
      meaning 1 is D, 2 is E (in this case Em), 3 is F# (in this case F#m), 4 is G, and so on.

  • @murielperez9820
    @murielperez9820 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't understand what are those numbers he's talking about :(

    • @sandyonie
      @sandyonie 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Muriel Perez Hi, what he's referring to is the Nashville Number System. The song is in D, therefore D = 1, F# = 3, A = 5, G = 4 and so on. If you search up the Nashville Number system on google, a pretty clear table should pop up in images. Its a pretty great way to communicate chords on the fly esp during worship!

    • @jeffreychenault7395
      @jeffreychenault7395 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Muriel Perez Hey hey .....Nashviulle Numbers system is based on basic music theory and steps in scales....All scales have steps...Western music scales are based on a 7 note scale....While alot of Asian, African and indian scales are based on a 5 note (pentatonic) scale. So following the key this is in..Dmajor...the steps are D=1, E=2, F#=3, G=4, A=5, B=6, C#=7.....I encourage you to learn this system as it is easier to communicate with other musicians what chords to play this way...especially during service....Example....if the guitar player uses a capo or the piano player is transposed they are all playing different ways...so an A wont translate to a guitarist with a capo...So if everyone knows the key...and the number system then you are good to go. Also you can begin to recognize patterns between chords and how they work together more easily. And then songs can be learned much faster and easier. Good luck!!!
