Promoter wanted a Cup date saying he lost money on the Nationwide race. NASCAR said its nationwide or nothing. Shame because it was time for cup, these races were packed and would have been crowds similar to F1 for cup. One rumour I heard is NASCAR was worried about attendance at NHIS and Watkins Glen
