Northeast Ohioan here. The GOP has been turning Ohio into North Florida for some time. Our own state supreme court found our educational system to be funded unconstitutionally since the 80s, no action.
(Edit) the best advice I have been able to give my kids is to get the hell out of Ohio, there is no future for them here.

Ohio is a gop cess pool. Regarding bringing issues up for a vote, it would need 60% for regular people to put issues on a ballot, but leaves it at 51% for elected official's to do it.

If we were "used to getting around voter suppression", Republicans wouldn't win. We are some of the savviest voters in the nation, but the GQP tactics have made it horribly hard to actually vote. They did it to us in Florida, we have had some good measures not make it because we only had 57/58 % . The ironic thing is the 60% voting initiative only passed here with 51%.

They tried this in Arkansas in 2022, but it failed. Thank goodness. However, the Republican legislatures are trying to get around it by passing laws to make it harder to get items on the ballot.
