On Stage At Wolf Trap - Gunther Schuller & The New England Ragtime Ensemble (1987)

In 1987 Gunther Schuller & The New England Ragtime Ensemble performed in the summer concert series at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in suburban Washington DC. Maryland Public Television produced this program of the concert as an episode of its “On Stage at Wolf Trap" series, which was broadcast over PBS affiliate WETA-TV.

This 1987 performance was great. With the inclusion of seldom if ever music. I hope they have a better preserved copy of the recording.

Gunther was nothing but the best, introducing folks to the background of ragtime leading up to jazz. I toured with him off and on two years with the group, and can honestly say I learned so much just listening to him talk. What an influence he is, still is to this day of my career. Thank you Gunther!
