Mario treats himself like a professional. It's kinda like with drug dealers: you don't get high off of your own supply. In hindsighr, this might not have been a very good or positive analogy to use.

Sonic meanwhile talking about why Super Mario 64 was one of the most revolutionary games he ever experienced for nailing the jump from a 2d into a 3d platformer so perfectly, pun entirely intended, and how giving the character multiple ways to move outside the typical jumping helped cement it as one of the best ways to handle movement for a game of its type and that the castle layout was beyond perfect for a level select as it helped add in objectives to play each level in a certain order while still allowing freedom

The funniest part about this to me is that I KNOW that Max can do a more-than-decent Mario impression, meaning the use of a synthesized voice was a purposeful creative choice

Sonic meanwhile talking about why Super Mario 64 was one of the most revolutionary games he ever experienced for nailing the jump from a 2d into a 3d platformer so perfectly, pun entirely intended, and how giving the character multiple ways to move outside the typical jumping helped cement it as one of the best ways to handle movement for a game of its type and that the castle layout was beyond perfect for a level select as it helped add in objectives to play each level in a certain order while still allowing freedom
