  • This video shares:
    1. The principle of filter design.
    2. An example of a bandpass coupled line filter working at 28 GHz for 5G application.
    3. The performance of the designed coupled line filter is simulated in CST.
    4. How to tunning the filter to increase its performance.

    Thank you a lot. It is a best Lecture. Not only Theory but also practical engineering tip can be adopted in work place. :)

    Which book did you use as a source? Also thank you for this educational content.

      The basic instructions come from microwave Engineering, by Pozar. I just increased the working frequency based on my knowledge and experience.

    I was woundering if you help students by any chance? I have designed a 5g filter but im stuck at one point cant really obtain the required results. Do you think you will be to help me with it please ?

    Hi there, may I ask, do you have the step by step method on how to draw the microstrip coupled line on CST?

    • @Fan-vk9gx
      @Fan-vk9gx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, I do not have a step by step video. There are two key parameter for this filter design:1) the length of the microstripline and 2) the gap between each microstripline. We can find the method to calculate the initial value in Pozar's book.

    Sir can we design this in AWR design?

    Hello, Thank you so much for video. I've tried so long to find something like this. I just used the Design Guide in ADS. I have a few questions though. Did you optimize in CST using the optimization tool or just play around with the numbers? Also do you think just using the design guide is easier at 20GHz or more?

      First, thank you for watching. I start the original design in CST since this structure is fairly simple. For the optimization, I first checked the E-filed and spotted the section or stage with low coupling. Then I tried to decrease the air gap between the two stubs. Also, I tried to tune the impedance between the two stages to decrease the reflection since, in the original design, each stage is not well matched. Hope this work can inspire you in your project.

      @@Fan-vk9gx That makes so much sense and gave me intuition on how to go about with the first steps. I understand. Thank you so much. Good luck with your channel.

    大佬是看懂中文吧,我一听这语音典型的中式发音。另外,在毫米波频段加工误差影响很大啊,28GHz左右的窄带带通滤波器我做出来的PCB滤波器中心频率偏差大于500MHz,几乎就不能用

    • @Fan-vk9gx

      Yes, I am Chinese. You are right, there is frequency shift from simulation to real board. SImulation just gives us a start point and we need to tune the filter when we measure the board.
