I would really love to reach Tom Lehrer to share with him that my 3/4 grade students performed L-Y at a spring concert. It was by far the biggest hit of the night- adored by young and old! I'm thrilled I could introduce a new generation to this witty talent! He generously put his music in the public domain. Thank you, Tom Lehrer!
It was delightful to find these clips featuring my dear friend Tom Lehrer! When I show them to my granddaughter she will love them as she adored the man she always called Uncle Tom!

Wow; one of my favorite "Electric Company" songs. Even before watching this again, I could still sing 4 verses from memory. I believe Tom Lehrer contributed 10 songs to the show. Some of them (like this one) he sang himself, while others were sung by one or more of the main cast members.
I like the retro Electric Company over the 2009 version because of 3 main reasons.One,they had Letterman and Spiderman episodes,Two,they had the three and five second word reads even though it was originally five and ten in earlier episodes.Finally 3,I loved the retro shows much better than the later version,only 4 best friends,Special Agent Jack Bowser,Captain Cluck,the 3 gorillas,24 to read a message and just barely escape the trouble spot.I liked that OK,but not the other corny skits.
I almost forgot some LM sketches,the one with car,cart,dart and tart,soup and soap,Letterman,wetterman,betterman.chair,air and hair.boay and coat,coat and goat.Did Wilder and Mostel voice all of the episodes as their respective characters?
Wow. That music reminds me a lot from the movies, where there wacky, chase and musically every scenes that listen them. Really love this one because it has 70’s cartoon and great voice actor.

I performed this in kindergarten and I just came here for some nice nostalgia. I didn’t realise how old this song was. I’m 12 and performed it with my class in 2016. 2016 is nostalgic to me.

my mom insists this is a schoolhouse rock song. i remember as a kid we got this dvd with all of the songs on it and she was desperately looking for this one.
Our english teacher played this song in the 7th class, we have enjoyed it very much, sadly he's in pansion now and wan't a very good teacher, but he was a great person if I look back at our time together, now I miss him ;D
See, stuff like this introduced me to Tom, even though I didn't know who he was at the time, or that he did these songs. Then years later I heard his other stuff. And put the pieces together years later and was stunned.
And Tom was always happiest as a teacher, he only wrote songs as a sideline. If his friends had never convinced him to release them on albums, we might never have had these songs.

It's too bad this kind of teaching is gone. It's so frustrating watching tv, where it seems no one knows how (and when) to use an adverb. There are so many adjectives being used incorrectly that it's appalling.
I just remember as a child , learning about LY but being confused about what eager meant... Because he's using it ironically LOL. I thought eager meant reluctant.

I hadn't seen this in probably close to 45 years, and the second I started watching it, I remembered there was a scary part at the end that I loved!
Lehrer was a total genius.
My mind recently recalled this song from my youth in the 70s and bam!

Schoolhouse Rock has a more "old-timey" adverb song called Lolly Lolly which I found when searching for this one.
