    They should have the ELO range shown to take it into account

    5:21 stoutland was one of my first UL moms that I had built and saw even the slightest success with. Such a wide array of moves. Cool lil doggo that guy.

    QOTD: I think we can all agree everyone running spice has AT LEAST reached Ace. considering that, id like to see a floor of 1800-1900 elo because someone tanking to verse worse players than rank 20, spice or not, is extremely lame IMO. also Callum i appreciate you showcasing the communitys battles and for bringing more attention to the game! your casting is one of my favorites here

    There shouldn't be any elo/rank requirement but it should be taken into consideration when we're voting for the winner

    @KelKav 14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +4

    The elo should not have a requirement, but it should be listed. Sure, you can eventually get a win with absolutely useless stuff, but against a three year old it means less. It is so much more impressive to win with almost useless pokemon against good trainers.

    Might be a bit difficult, but maybe have ELO brackets for voting.
    Like best of 2500, 3000 etc.
    That way, people are being compared to battlers of their own skill level.

    I would like seeing some higher Elo spice, however it is kinda difficult to implement. Earlier in seasons you won't have as high elo, later in the season having lower elo doesn't necessarily mean opponents without meta picks. Not sure what a solution might be but also don't think that a strict elo level should be followed

    There are two camps
    1) Spice alone & 2) Spice + gameplay
    Camp 1 is simply about the grind. Make the team as random as possible. The more obscure the better. The battle itself is largely irrelevant: a good show only adds a bonus but poor play doesnt count against.
    Camp 2 puts the emphasis on game play. They believe there is a point where spice transitions to just garbage. Teams are certainly spicy but tend to be less extreme in terms of randomness/obscurity. The battles tend to involve higher skill levels in both the player and competitor
    I dont think its hard to prove majority opinion lies in camp#1. Simply look at voting patterns and the last World BOS Championship. The biggest prize went to a really cool team that featured possibly the worst gameplay. As such im not sure displaying ELO will really make any difference. Adding a cap will sacrifice inclusivity and the threshold will still be low enough to not sufficiently highlight those in camp2. This may mean those in camp2 slowly move away from submissions but youd probably lose even more the other way. Perhaps you can find an alternative way to somehow reward those in camp2? But as a whole it seems smarter to stick with majority.

    • @ManCityCityMan
      @ManCityCityMan 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      Exactly! To top it off camp 1 is never bothered by camp 2 bc as u said gameplay irrelevant. BUT camp 2 be frustrated watching that shitty game play always grabbin top prize.

    QOTD: Probably an unpopular opinion but I think you should be at the very least Ace rank to submit BOS submissions, anyone can get wins with spicy teams if you're battleing at low ELO especially late in the season.
    Nothing against battlers that are genuinely at low ELO but it takes away from the people that get wins with spicy teams against other people who actually know what they're doing.

  • @collinl3120
    @collinl3120 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +9

    QOTD. Maybe just separate the lower ELO battles into a different category. For example, anything under 1900 ELO in the Great League goes into its own voting pool.
    Personally, I really enjoy the lower ELO battles. They can be really entertaining with their questionable plays and wild teams.
    I think forcing an ELO/rank restriction may deter people from submitting since not everyone takes the game as serious as others.

    • @flygonnagetyou
      @flygonnagetyou 9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      This does seem like the most viable option; ELO brackets.
      Submission amounts should be modelled to the normal distribution; 5 battles for sub-2000, 10 for 2000-2500, and then, if anyone is able to win with spice above that elo (above 2500) then they should also be considered.

    • @wuguxiandi9413
      @wuguxiandi9413 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I agree. I am barely over 2500, and I am by no means a good player.
      Half my teams make no sense, which is why I win a lot of matches, since you can't plan for a team that makes no sense XD

    QOTD: Seems like I’m in the minority here but I think ELO and Rank should absolutely matter for future Battle of Spice entries, or at least be visible and taken into consideration. If you win at Legend Rank with an ultra spicy team, you’re playing against the best of the best, and that should matter more than someone who wins with the same team in an unranked match or at sub-2000 ELO.

    QotD: high ELO should be bonus points, but definitely not required. I find it way more impressive that people make big investments in strange Pokemon or have interesting themes over a number being big. I also appreciate some of the lower ELO battles because you get to see spice from the opponent as well instead of seeing Clodsire, Shadow Feraligatr, etc in every battle

  • @khaos288

    Boo on ELO. Who cares what the ELO is if you're running bidoof, Haloween pikachu, and Bellsprout? If you spent the time and resources to build those up, who cares if the win comes against some toddler with their dads phone. Still spicy af.

    • @chrisefindlay
      @chrisefindlay 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +10

      Because it takes exponentially more skill to win with spice at 2500 as opposed to say rank 19. And so on for 3000. That makes it more impressive and so should be displayed imo

    • @khaos288
      @khaos288 15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +3

      @ displayed is cool. Gated is a no from me. I def agree if you win master league battles at 3,000 elo with a team of 2500 cp mons (or whatever) is better

    I do respect involving any ELO range / skill level to give others a chance and feel included, but I do have to say that seeing someone win with spice + skilful plays vs competent players at higher ELO does make me more inclined to vote for that trainer.

  • @robedigiov17

    QOTD: I'd be OK if ELO is displayed and I like the idea of grouping submissions into voting polls based on ELO. I understand the value of winning at a high ELO but I don't think there should be a minimum requirement

  • @YoshiJoshi1994
    @YoshiJoshi1994 9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    QOD: Having the elo range displayed would be a great quality of life and more information for the viewer. Can help players make a decision to run a team if it's working in a certain elo range as well as avoid unfortunate tanking of elo. But I don't think there should be an elo requirement for the submissions themselves, or we'll never see some Pokemon shine xD

  • @faro7780

    I think if people tank just to run a spicy team, they are most likely already tanking for something more valuable than. I think the fun of spice comes from it being spice, not the elo.

  • @ellisbrundrett2563

    I think it should be displayed and even maybe posted in the polls. I usually vote for a battle that has an actual opponent and not just a RPS hard counter

  • @piff8067
    @piff8067 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    QOTD: I think this all really just comes down to the opinions of each individual voter, but as a voter and fellow competitor here’s mine
    I don’t think there needs to be any requirement or separate category or anything of that sort, but I do think the ELO should be displayed out of fairness. As a voter it’s definitely something I’ve noticed in the past when considering a vote but it’s not the deciding factor, someone winning at 2500 is certainly more impressive on paper than someone winning at 900 ELO, HOWEVER the largest factor in my vote is a combination of the most entertaining battle and the most skilled battler, if the battler at 900 ELO is making catches, calling baits etc. and the 2500 battler just RPS’d for the win, 900 gets my vote.
    Edit: As a competitor, I personally won’t submit anything under 2000.

    QOTD: I'd say no ELO requirements but their ELO shoud be displayed.
    And if possible i'd like that it gets gets discouraged that the good players tank their ELO on purpose, just to get a minute of fame by bullying a weaker player.
    I mean, you can tell that some of these matches are between players of very different skill levels.

    It may be reasonable for the BOS to remain as is without any restriction to be as inclusive as possible. The championship version though id argue should be far more strict.
    A callum fav pick or maybe if another content creator would be willing(if you wanted to remain neutral) would be most likely to reward on the balance of spice and gameplay. This prize could simply be an invite to the championship.

    Meh I think ELO is not the measure to disqualify though, pay attention to the enemy team though since some people may be running under 2500 or under 1500 and that’s where it matters, not necessarily ELO

    No to elo. Spice is spice. It takes dedication to tank enough elo to get a win with a cool team.
