Miss Josif! I’ve been waiting for you ❤️🤗 They’re all beautiful, I love ombré. I use the ombré brush horizontal and vertical but with the vertical I use a dotting tool to kind of squiggle down the middle first. And yes, you’re practically perfect in every way 🥰

Thanks! Definitely give it another go. It's one of those things that will just click. Practice doing 3 coats; it took 3 coats for me to get it at first, and then you get better and can go down to 2. 🥰

I do this often on clients and don't get it on the skin; I think your brain automatically knows not to swipe a mile each way! As long as it doesn't cure or sit on the skin for long, it's fine! * there is a section in my Nails 101 video where I show a clip of doing it on a person.

Hey Jo. I love your nail tutorials. Are you able to buy the full coverage nails that you use in just one size, or so you have to buy all the sizes at the same time?
Look forward to trying the swiping back and forth technique because the result looks great. But.... You did it on unattached nails. I can only imagine how messy it would be with skin being in the way. The brush would catch on skin as you swiped. But hey- won't know if it's worth it until I try lol.
This is how I do it on people, too! It doesn't get messy - you just have to be aware not swipe a mile each way. I have a video of it being done on a person, will try and dig it out.
I want ombré nails NOW! Mine are so bad my sister even commented on them at the weekend. Shocking half purple half naked style 😳😳😳😳😳 Roll on April 15th for the rescue mission 🤗
@Samantha Outten Try using a little more product than usual (I mean, not gallons 😆) as this will mean you can be a lot lighter with your brush so you don't have to 'poke' right into the product, and you'll get less brush strokes. Also leave it for 30s-1min before curing, for the gel to level out.
@@MissJosNailCo it’s true I love your videos, you are so funny. I don’t think he will use nail glue in a hurry again lol 😂 x
Hi this looks really well explained and you also have other great nail art tutorials on your channel from just scrolling through. Is it difficult to do these ombres using darker colours such as black to blue or black to red/green etc? I'd love my local salon to be able to do this but they have said it's not that easy with darker designs and I currently have a natural to white ombre just using acrylic powder that came out nice but would like to maybe try darker in future as I'm a male and go to some rock concerts and stuff
Hiya, thank you! Yes this can be done with darker colours. Black is always going to be the trickiest, but it's totally do-able! Colours that naturally blend better are easier, like green-blue, yellow-orange etc. If you want black into a another colour, they'll want to do ⅓ black at the top, and ⅔ the other colour as the black will quickly drown out the other colour. Ooh, or...have black as the bottom colour, that would be easier. 🤘
@@MissJosNailCo Yes I was looking for black bottom, navy or dark blue middle and a bright blue tip and I was told it would be too challenging or not possible with gels or powders but I think it is however maybe too time consuming. I had booked a larger slot with nail art but probably wouldn't have looked for much nail art at all with that idea. My first thoughts when I booked was pinky with clouds or things like that and that's what I ended with but was more of a backup plan on the day. I need to check if they have jelly polishes also. They have a huge spectrum of colours but I feel like a lot are just solid
If you're going to a 'nail bar' where they get you in and out as quickly as possible, and everything from a shape change to a single polkadot is an extra 10 quid, then they're probably not the place to go for time consuming nail art. When I said 'bottom' I meant tip, I think that's a tech thing as it's the bottom the way I look at it 😆. Personally I think that combo sounds totally do-able, even if it did take a while. If they have pigments, it could be done with those a lot quicker. It all depends on the tech I think, and their experience/confidence. If someone had asked me to do that when I hadn't done it before, I would practice it before they came. There are lots of ways to ombré so (in my opinion) they should try to do it for you 😬. Have you tried cateye gels? Over black nails you can get some really awesome effects that colour shift, and they're just a coat of polish with a magnet used on it, so super easy!
@@MissJosNailCo Yeah I don't really do my own nails so much. I have just started practicing with regular polish a bit on my short nails but have some acrylics that go just a bit past my finger tip at the moment. Can still type up to 100wpm or 120 on some extracts on typeracer where the last set had index fingers a bit too long. But maybe I will eventually pick up the gel tools and stuff because it would be cool to learn. I am pretty sure my salon won't do cat eye polishes but they do look pretty cool however do require even more advance practice as oppose to ombre or other artwhich you may be able to make work on the day Do you have any concerns about UV exposure or do you work a lot on just nail forms without being on hand? Thanks
I find regular polish harder to work with, but maybe that's because I've always used gel. Cateye requires zero practice, just apply the gel and then move a magnet around until you like the look of it - and it's mesmerising to do! The whole UV exposure from lamps thing is a complete bunch of nonsense. It's the equivalent of being outside for about 3 minutes extra a day, and not even a sunny day, just a regular day. The fingertip-less gloves that you can get make no sense, because if any part of the hand was going to be affected by the UV, the fingertips are the most sensitive. Don't worry about the lamp at all, it's just companies trying to sell things to solve a problem that doesn't exist! Learning to use gel is super fun, and if you mess up then you can just wipe and try again!
NB: The brand I use here (Diamond Glitters & Gel Perfection) has closed since the making of this video, therefore is no longer available for purchase. Any brand gel polish is fine to create the designs seen on this channel. Thank you for watching!
is it okay to use jelly nail gel?

I am pretty sure my salon won't do cat eye polishes but they do look pretty cool however do require even more advance practice as oppose to ombre or other artwhich you may be able to make work on the day
Do you have any concerns about UV exposure or do you work a lot on just nail forms without being on hand?
