  • Today I'm going to go show you how to re-energise your tired coneflower so that it will re-bloom in the fall. It will be fuller, stockier, and full of new blooms.

Hope that you are saving all those great seeds! The Leander Library could use some for the ie seed library.

Perfect timing! I’ve been planning to cut mine back and now I know how! Had also wondered about fertilizer and you answered that too! Thank you from AL!!!

Do you have heat in the 100's. How do they look after you trimmed them? Mine are very stressed.

@@therockyhillgardener Temps are pushing 100 with heat index 100+. They don’t look stressed. No new growth pushing up. Think they’re hunkered down waiting for cooler temps!

I'm going to check my coneflowers for potential buds! Thank you!

I’m in Hewitt. My flowers are struggling. I got a surprise Tithonus this week tho. Yay! I can’t decide if I should let my Lilliput zinnias go, or just keep pruning them. They add a small pop of color but a lot of dead leaves, and they are about four feet tall with tiny blooms . Not the best looking plants. I don’t wish to have them again next year. I prefer the big zinnias. Should I just cut my losses?

I'm wondering if I've done the right thing by pruning mine so much in this hot sun. I'm going to do another video on what NOT! to do in the garden. My coneflower look pretty bad right now, too. I should have cut off dead flowers but now leaves that were shielding the lower leaves from the sun. Gardening is definitely an experiment.

I enjoy watching the yellow finches eating the seedheads of my cone flowers.

Me too! So many birds have come to eat. Save some seeds for more plants.

This is exactly what I needed to see today. I am giving my coneflowers a haircut today here in Georgia

Yes, the supports were needed for mine too. If we pinch them back when they're young it helps them to be stockier and they don't need as much support. Glad you're trying them out.

I’m in zone 6B in PA. I wasn’t expecting them to bloom anymore this season.
