Many thanks for this information. My hydrant may be of a different brand, as it is painted black, but otherwise it's similar to the one in the video. It was leaking at the underground drain valve. I followed the instructions and fixed the leak on the first attempt.

Great video! My hydrant looked exactly like the one demonstrated and good camera angles made fix a snap.

Very helpful. Glad I purchased from a brand that not only makes long-life reliable products but also fully supports them. Nice job guys!

I've still have water spritzing out the top, despite changing both O Ring washers in the head. Any ideas to why?

Mine leaks in off position only during really cold weather when temp is 40- 50ish & above no issue

40-50 is not cold at all, my yard hydrants are 6ft deep for the actual cold winters and wind that will make your face hurt. -30 or -45 with the windchill factor

Steel shrinks as temps fall. So does the valve rod. Adjust it so that there's a little more tension in to the off position. Otherwise as the rod shrinks, the valve opens slightly.

@@SteichenFamilyBut how much tension when turning off? Resistance and tension in the last inch or so of the handle position?

What if it's leaking from down below under the ground

Loosen set screw and raise handle up slightly. It is sealing at the bottom when you turn unit off and put your finger over end of threads. You should fill a small suction. You can also listen with your ear.

Did you figure out what was wrong?

Unfortunately this video glosses over that situation. Adjust the rod to provide a little more pressure on the valve in the off position. If it still leaks then your valve is shot, and you need to dig it up and replace.

Didn't dig up. Just unscrewed and pulled rod with
      Plunger up and replaced rod

Bought this brand hydrant and have had nothing but trouble since day one. Complete trash product.

@Dane Welkersen Iowa hydrant. If you have to do all the work to replace one ONLY replace with one of them
